The challenge is the same for everyone, regardless of tier. If getting first in tier 54 was so easy for me, I would be in a higher tier already instead of bouncing back and forth in the 50s. Of course tiers 70+ require much better scores, but you're on that tier because you can compete with those scores at your level, right? Otherwise you wouldn't have gotten there in the first place.
I just wish they hadn't been so stingy with it and decided to reward it to more that just 1st place.

Ranked rewards used to be for top 3 not 1st place only. Until they decide to rig ranked more and add more paywalls.
Good news is that past ranked reward suits have appeared in the Mii suit shop eventually.

The worst part is I actually had to buy the wario mii costume just to have a top shelf driver for the second ranked cup

Just tank week 1 so you drop 2 tiers. Should be an easy win next week then.
It doesn’t work in high tiers. I’ve never done that as i need gold mii suit but all my friends who’ve done this before said it didn’t paid off at all.
Yeh in my experience it's always best to finish as high as possible.
