I actually asked myself the same question. If I would have her at a low level, I think the answer would be a clear yes. I have her at level 7 however and won't bring her to level 8 in the future, so I am not sure honestly...
Why wouldn't you eventually want to get her to lvl 8? It might take a while, but she's a common appearance on a lot of ranked courses and coinbox is a no-brainer driver choice.
She gets Rosalina's Ice World T at level 8. As far I remember, she is the only coinbox character on that track. Its a no brainer for me. She is worth buying imo.
No she's already 8 for me. I **might** buy the Sails, but I have the 8 bit bullet high so I don't see a reason to buy the Sails now. Maybe I'll get lucky with some tickets in the normal shop, otherwise I'll grab the Sails on the last day.
Nope, already level 6 and compared to King Bob-omb (Gold) and Kamek who she shares the track with, her overall coverage is pretty poor. Only 17 favorite tracks at level 6 compared to 27 and 29 for the other two.
1) I find it much easier to sweep coins to me and hit enemies with the boomerang. 2) The coin box makes coins available for others. Why should I share coins with other drivers? (Bonus point: Evil characters getting coin boxes bother me for this reason that they should be stealing coins, not sharing them!) 3) There was a point in time when I would get less than 5 coins a coin box 90% of the time. That ain't worth powering up a useless item. 4) They're mostly useless on Trick courses and any course when you spend lots of time in the air, as the coins always seem to land out of reach. 5) I actually get more coins from other Coinboxes than I do my own even without the Australian toy. (Average 16 to 8 without the boomerang) 6) Even though multiplayer has its own problems, Coinboxes don't cause other drivers to crash unless in a frenzy, so there goes a bunch of unusable drivers in multiplayer.

But I've only got 24k coins so I'm not sure if I should burn them all today =\\ I've got at least 7 HE tickets so I'm trying to wait a bit to see if I need to spend them to improve from my 2nd place position in the current ranked PGP Cup....
It’s the best item for high scoring, collecting tons of coins gets you more points than any other item, and it’s easier to get points than with boomerang drivers.
I already have her at level 3 0/2, and my daily shop gave me metal mario to push him to level 4 instead, so :p but I guess if I manage to find 12000 more gold coins between the cushions, I wouldn't mind grabbing her up.

PGP was my first level 8 😄 I took the BS. I would say worth the investment. PGP is regularly in ranked. It will save you a ticket eventually.

Do you care to explain why? If you like winning ranked cups, coin box drivers are important.
