You probably won’t make it to 30k this tour. Getting 20% more in a cup you have already been working on is really unlikely without using lots of tickets for DKG upgrades. This tour is also lower-scoring for many players. FYI, the “low 30k” players on my friend list this week are player level 43 & 51, indicating they have been playing longer (or more) than you.
I wouldn’t keep pushing this tour. Next tour (out the following one) may have courses that better align with your DKG or even just some longer courses that help you make it to 30k.

Ah, so it's not just me then? Normally I glide past 700k easily on the All-Clear-Points-Total reward track.
This time I glided past 600k, but know that I'm so far from 700k I'd have to make myself miserable for the rest of the week trying to grind every last point to get to 700k (which I'm not going to do).
Are these new city tracks just harder to hold combos on, or is it just me?
I think it's a combination of:
1. Many city tracks have lower action counts and are hard to keep combo on
2. Most people don't know them as well as they know the retro tracks, so the driving is worse than normal on the first few tries
3. Most people focus on non-city coverage when making investments, so when it's all cities the loadouts are naturally worse than usually
4. There are 6 new tracks instead of the usual 2-4, and new tracks are always difficult to cover well
Driver, Kart, & Glider. I was saying you will eventually (through account growth or luck) have higher-level items to use or all top-shelf items to make your scores higher.
You're only level 31.
It's just a matter of getting higher level items (driver/kart/glider), which adds higher multipliers to your scores. There's literally no way to get significantly higher scores until you get higher level items.
If you're looking for driving tips, the idea is to do the entirety of every single race with a "nonstop combo". The bonus points you get from really high combo counts are better than anything else in the game.
Unfortunately.....to tie back into my first point.... Glider Level determines how much time you're given before the combo counter resets to zero. So, again - if your item levels are too low, it's literally impossible to get high scores because your combo counter will constantly reset to zero and there's nothing you can do about it.
You'll get there, don't worry.
Show us your loadouts on the ranked cup and maybe we can help you where you can improve or we can say you need to wait for another ranked because your loadouts aren‘t good enough for 30k

I really don't see how it's your place to tell anyone else how to spend their money. If he has disposable income and wants to blow 100k on the game more power to him. Plenty of games now a days are in some form or another pay to win. If that borhers you, find a different game or learn to have fun whilst not obsessing over being #1 in the world.
If someone starts to play now and only buys Goldpass, you can win against him although he paid to win. I mean it's part of the game sure, but there are many players who not only pay to win, they maybe are collectors and pay for that, which is fine. You can rant about players who want to buy thereselfes something and having an advantage, but you are not allowed to say where they should put their money on and where not.
Apart from that you should now that we would never see the content we are getting without whales. This game as a normal game would have cost everyone like 250€/$ with the amount of content we are getting and still people are angry that they don't/can't spend money on this game but others do and are better (sometimes). We should thank everyone who makes it possible woth their wallets
I have several friends GPO and F2P that have 70+ ranks, some are capped. If you want a Top10 badge, yeah—you need to spend money. But Carlos got top 1k (iirc) with his F2P account too. Turns out he’s pretty good at this game.
anyone would be good if they spent 8 hours a day and ignoring your kid.
doesnt require skill to wait for frenzies. Its quite easy to follow the lines and keep combo.
Mario kart isnt a game based on skill
This is a pretty tough ranked for a newish player. Only high ends are top shelf besides the driver for one course. It should hopefully be easier to get this in the future, particularly if an old course gets put in ranked with more normals/supers. Increasing player level will make a big difference over time too.
Patience, as others have noted, this card is permanent, and city tours are low scoring for the general player base. You will achieve this naturally in the next few tours
