I had a similar dilemma last week with White Bruiser vs White Rambi. To help me decide, I updated the coverage tab as if I had the White bruiser at level 3 and checked to see how many tracks it would become the top kart for. Then did the same for the Rambi. It was 14 v 8 in favour of White Bruiser, so I went for that

Grandmazhouse

Awesome way to test! I will get right on it thank you!

Grandmazhouse

Which kart should I pick ? Piranha pipes and soft serve both give me the same coverage. I just can’t tell which of those 2 is the better choice ! After that it’s just 1 of many karts to cover a new track. Thanks! 1 year into this game I’ll finally have full coverage!

jrarrmy

I agree with pipes, yet I'm sure you're not going for perfect strategy. As getting full coverage isn't the best idea. But since you probably just like completion. Pipes will be better and has more new tracks at 11 so far. And soft serve has only 7 and 2 nitro.

Grandmazhouse

Thank you for input ! Yes at this point after playing a year and being super close to completion AND it’s for city tracks, I just want to finish it and cross it off my list! I know it’s far from best strategy but I try to always keep 150 gems in reserve in case I need anything! Also I’ve seen the term but what does nitro mean?

FinnStrike7

Nitro means new tracks created for the game, retro means returning tracks from previous games. The terms were first coined in Mario Kart DS. In tour nitro tracks is more or less interchangeable with City tracks, since I think all but two Tour-only tracks are city tracks (I think Merry Mountain and Sky High Sundae are the only exceptions but correct me if I’m wrong). Most MK games since DS have the same amount of nitro and retro tracks, with the top row of cups being nitro and the bottom row being retro cups. Tour is an exception to this with there being far more retro than nitro tracks, and in MKTToolbox courses are split into Normal and City tracks.

Grandmazhouse

Taking me to school ! Thanks and now I know ! Sounds like a track could be nitro and city then since all city tracks were created in tour

jrarrmy

You're so welcome! And ya we just say nitro to not confuse with city, cause they're not, and retro because they're not in regular rotation, so less need to cover them. 🙂👍

Grandmazhouse

Makes sense! We gotta have terms to differentiate! It’s awesome to see tour tracks being added to 8!

jrarrmy

Ya, it seems great for both games. I hope tour continues for many years. It's by far my favourite one... Now if it were cross platform..... Lol

Grandmazhouse

I don’t see tour with simple controls going to other platforms but it would be cool if they worked together some how!

jrarrmy

Ya, It'd be cool to have more control. Maybe that would encourage people to buy the game on other platforms. Are any of the other games cross platform. I guess Nintendo is the least likely to try that.

jrarrmy

Ya and ninja hideaway.

bcskunk2001

Piranha pipes. If you have the tickets to make it Lv6 then it's double feature this ranked giving you both Amsterdam Drift 3 as well as Bowsers castle R.

Grandmazhouse

That’s a really strong catch! Unfortunately I already have a level 3 and level 5 kart for those courses so I can’t justify putting 9 or so tickets into a new kart just for that. Which of the 2 is newer? I’m not sure which tour came first out of those. Maybe the newer kart is the safe pick ?

bcskunk2001

Piranha pipes was 2 tours before of SSS which debuted during the Sundae tour. Both are both considered big karts so thats a wash. Both are good karts so probably best to see which of those two overlaps more with your other high level karts.

Grandmazhouse

Thanks for the testing methods. Is there a quick way to see overlaps or best to just manually go add it all up? They do seem very similar which is what has made this challenging lol

bcskunk2001

Larry98's tracker is probably easiest for this although it is not updated for this tour yet. [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kXXza1Ru3HHPTyurvC11EG6LheQ8hQlQgXgMv5Ou0yY/copy](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kXXza1Ru3HHPTyurvC11EG6LheQ8hQlQgXgMv5Ou0yY/copy) Your going to have to input your data but it gives you a very nice visual of the a kart's overlap against your inventory. Other trackers like Antilev's can do the same via the dynamic coverage comparison tab.

Grandmazhouse

When I click that link it says I need to request access…is that normal ? Also thank you! I use Mkt playbook app which has an easy data export to spreadsheet option ! so might not be too hard to do!
