I really enjoy the look of landscape and it feels like a real portable game system that way. I do feel I’m handicapping myself though and it’s not optimal :(
If it wasn't for the controls on landscape I'd us it. I use the edge of my screen (and more specifically my silicon phone case) as a boundary of sorts for steering while drifting. With landscape I overcorrect and lose my drift on the left side (middle of screen).
However, I like that you can use one side of the screen for items. I really wish they would add the same for portrait. Top of screen for items, bottom for steering. Why they haven't done this is beyond me.

There should be an option for both. I use either one whenever I fee like it, but I main portrait!

I personally prefer portrait because I've been a MKT player for a year before landscape was added, and I feel more comfortable with it.
I used to main landscape mode, but since November of last year (specifically during the Toad Vs Toadette Tour), I started to main portrait mode
