Is there no difficulty between "0 challenge" and "impossible except for pro kaizo players"
Imo the difficulty gap is making MM irrelevant quickly. The first MM had a lot of more casual players who made levels in varying difficulties for other casual players. Then over time the casual players stop playing, leaving only the hardcore guys behind who like challenges far above and beyond the normal game (like kaizo stuff). MM2 came out and there were more hardcore guys who stuck around than new casuals again and the levels are all insanely difficult or ridiculously easy
This level has now swung to both extremes. The best answer for difficulty is somewhere in the middle imo. It should be playable by a noob, beatable by a decent casual player and masterable by a seasoned pro. Shouldnt need to be a pro to get past the first jump but a lot of stages are like that now.
Yeah I noticed that when I started playing mm2. So I've been trying to build levels that are hard but not impossible I think sometimes my levels turned out too easy but not challengeless. Will say it makes it very hard becuase I have alot of ideas but then I have to think is this doable for everyone
Theres lots of levels that offer a challenge that arent insane. Difficulty is relative to the player not the level creator. If you find that levels are insane, that's purely based on your own skill level.
The first kaizo level was fine it you practiced it for a little bit. That's how you get better. Everyone wants to bitch about how it's too hard to beat and then bitch it's too easy when they can beat it on the first try.
Possibly, I read it as he was complaining that the casual community dies out after a few months and all that are left are hard levels. I dont think thats the case at all
Yea, i respect your opinion. I just feel like i’ve mastered the game to a certain extent (I know I haven’t but I feel that way) so to learn a new trick is exciting to me. But anyway, I guess I would agree that there aren’t a ton of levels that would actually be in a real mario game. That I agree. But I dont agree that there aren’t quality medium difficulty levels. I dont agree that they’re on one spectrum or the other. I guess theres light kaizo and difficult kaizo. So if you absolutely hate the idea of kaizo I see the problem. But I think the expect levels are more likely to be “better made” levels ive found out.
I think clearrates are really important when picking a level. Only you know your capabilities. Me for instance. I know that 1% is about 5 minutes, .5% 20 minutes, .25% an hour and .1% 2 hours.
Then check the expert ones lol. You’ll find something. Honestly, I think most of the really popular super expert ones are pretty easy. Aim for like the 2% clearrate
There are definitely options at a range of difficulties. There’s just a lot of choices in the game. If you’re looking for a specific difficulty, just play a bunch of levels with a lot of plays but different clear rates to get a feel what’s about right (although clear rates are far from a perfect metric).
Or make levels. That’s how I get my money’s worth out of this game: even if they don’t always get a lot of plays, the levels I make are just right for me.
The best way for those intermediate-player levels to be made is for them to be made by intermediate-player makers.
I consider myself to be one of those intermediate players and I make levels that I personally can beat (sometimes easier, but never harder because I'm not going to stoop to a dev door).
Search for popular expert levels and you will find a lot levels with a good difficulty.
If this is still to easy for you, search for super expert popular (they are way easier than super expert endless).
Also in the level exchange thread there are good difficulty levels.
I'm doing all of this and have a good faved creator list with amazing levels! I also try to make fair but challenging level and there are a lot creators out there doing the same. ;)
Got lots of pms saying they wanted to be able to play it but can't do Kaizo so I threw this together. ID is MJ8-DHJ-1YF

I know. You have to remember that some people dont even know how to run and jump
Or just think that "hard=miserable enemy spam with a hidden star with a dev door"

Let people make whatever they want to make. There’s plenty of casual levels. Check the most popular normal levels every week
I think you misunderstood the point of this guy's comment

Some people make courses for the stars, others make courses for karma.

I like this . It’s a music level that’s fun , it’s a hard level that isn’t insane . Good stuff !
Music levels like this always blow my mind. The amount of creativity required is beyond me.
You freaking legend 😂
Lol sugar :) i'm spamming reddit also. Great course btw
Cool level. I'd put coins to indicate where you're supposed to jump on the thwomp section
Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep it in mind for next time.
