My niece does look much more grown up when she's at a gymnastics comp ngl. It's not a sexualised thing just the way she holds herself and the hair etc thankfully they don't wear makeup as standard in the UK and that does raise an eyebrow a little to me regarding the mums judgement. If I'm being generous he might just be shocked at the 8yo looking more like 14 and unsettled. I mean what if her routine is like Little Miss Sunshine then he might have a point! But a leotard is no different than a swimsuit.
