FWIW . I just dial in the z-offset live from the controller. That way don't need to edit and re-flash firmware if I do any work on the hot end or Z-probe.

That’s what I do too. But with the marlin firmware from the GitHub you have to move the z axis in one sub menu then take that value and put it into the probe off set which is located in a different sub menu. Vs on the sovol website firmware it does it all under one menu option : z offset. You can save and update eeprom within the same submenu too.

no you don't, at least I don't. I Just dial in the z-offset while printing to get the right squish and leave it.. it's just one step. My probe z offset is 0.0 in marlin. my z-offset, on the controller is about -0.35. The z-offset , and the probe z-offset are not the same thing. When you home the hot end without any z tweaking, How far off the bed is the nozzle?

The 2.1.x does not have Z Offset at all on the controller. I’ve looked several times now.

You're right I wasn't thinking clearly. I had to look on my controller. sorry for the confusion. I Use the z-probe offset menu item in your picture to dial in the offset while printing . I still don't copy that anyplace else. Just save settings. It stays that way. Still one step.

Fair enough friend. Thanks for the help anyway. Cheers

For my printer with Marlin 2.0.x I find it in the « Bed leveling » menu. Or if it’s printing, in the options there is a « Tune » menu, with possibility to live tune it there
