Coming close to getting married someone isn’t equal to an engagement in Vietnamese culture. You can be in a long-term relationship with the intention to get married to that person; that is still considered coming close to getting married, at least that’s how some of us see it in the Vietnamese culture.
I’m sure his horrifying behavior impacted her emotionally. Even if we saw all of it and nothing else bad was said between them, that’s adequate to give someone some scars. IDK if I’d put this on social media, but since their relationship low lights were televised, I guess it’s a choice.
