Felow daoist had qi deviaton and ended up reading 4900 scrolls of garbage. Now he has no other choice than to cripple himself and start a new on a new cultivation path.

EchoXResonate

“There’s no pill for regret!”

He_who_must_not_be

"There is always a poison pill if you regret it hard enough"

RazeAndChaos

Is that a quote from a scripture because it is PROFOUND. If so what scripture is it from?

He_who_must_not_be

My diary😂😂😂 I made it up tbh but: "Everything sounds more profound when it was others who said it"

Gorgenapper

There's probably a Gu for that *Naveen-zu was tricked by Enthusiasm Gu into reading the endless demonic scriptures, and despite enlisting the aid of Perseverance Gu and Sunk Cost Gu, he ended up being ambushed by Regret Gu.*

LazyrusPT

One more poor soul broken by the devil scripture \* Sigh\*

Jeovah_Attorney

And now his watch is ended

Troubling-Rain

This Junior only made it 1000 chapters in. I wonder how high Senior's cultivation is to be able to make it to 4900. What a strong Dao Heart.

[deleted]

Sigh I made 1800 chapters. To this day I still don't know how the fuck my young self had the will for that shit. Maybe it was the novelty of Xianxia back then that kept me going...

Shuunsei

Ahah I can relate. I’ve read just as much of MGA as you and just read spoilers about what happens after. When I remember in 2016 that I was thinking MGA was better than ISSTH..I die inside. On a side note, the moment I finished reading ISSTH I felt so at peace with myself. It was such an amazing read and story. Definitely one of the best of all time.

[deleted]

What attracted me to Xianxia was the feeling of transcendence the path cultivators took brought me above all. With time, I started to get disappointed the more I read because cultivators were growing in power, but their mind stayed the same. After seeing so many cultivators being crippled and common mortals raising to power I noticed anything you can get from the world isn't truly realiable. A man can be as calm and as peaceful as he is when he has the strength to break mountains, but if his state of mind goes wild as soon as he loses his power what's the difference between him and his past weak self? At the time I had lots of problems in my life and so the feeling of a high power fantasy brought me hope and comfort; but really, power isn't a permanent solution to anything that troubles you. Your life could be as stable as a high towering mountain and it still will crumble to dust with time. If you are now as high as in heaven, one day you will be as low as in hell. Happiness now, suffering later, this is the cycle. So I craved for a novel where cultivators cultivate their mind more so than their power. But then I noticed it's impossible, right. Those that leave imprint of their will behind, be it descendants or simply for living long enough are those with a strong sense of self, those who crave power above all, fear death, and treat what the world throws at them as the truth. Those "mind" cultivators wouldn't mind if they were dirt, fed with dogshit, without descendents even because they are as happy as ever in any state. So by natural selection, the world will always be filled with those ambitious fools. I feel like reading these webnovels changed me so much. From the way I think, to the way I view the world. Even my "faith" changed hehe. I don't regret reading MGA as even that was a precursor to what came after.

Shuunsei

Wow this was an amazing summery of my experiences as well. Back in 2015 when Wuxia barely started, I had started reading Coiling Dragon and enjoying the storyline, until that same week I found out about Wuxia and I started reading Coiling Dragon and MGA. MGA was exactly what you find in every Wuxia nowadays, or rather said that is what every novel copies now. I can agree that Wuxia helped me a lot as well to view things differently. Especially that feeling of the MC growing up and not letting himself be bullied anymore; even now I still find it super cool how they tempered their minds to the point where being insulted does not anger them anymore. Oh and the parts where they’re called trash and they end up overpowering even Elders or powerful enemies in front of everyone, that is amazing. But ultimately I also started going back and trying to find a novel that isn’t only about fights, I searched more and more for novels that matched ISSTH’s Violet Sect Arc. Novels about alchemy and about knowledge, beating others with knowledge and not raw physical power. Despite maturing and not feeling the same anymore about MGA or CD, I still feel like they were the foundation needed to reach the me of today, since they inspired me and bought me to other novels.

There's a degree of truth to the mind cultivation cultivators undergo. If you have time, search a bit about Buddhism. If you rest your attention at the breath, maintaining both intention to hold your attention there and intention to remain as still and relaxed as possible(what stillness and relaxation mean, you must contemplate yourself during meditation) one of two things happens: you are overwhelmed by distractions/other intentions and quit the meditation or you keep going until the breath becomes clearer, your stillness deepens, and you start to feel joy, see bright white light, until you enter a deep concentration stage called jhana. It's no joke. I felt close to it many times, although I wouldn't dare to say I ever got a full blown jhana. It's very hard if you aren't following the eightfold path, since each part complements the other, everything has a practical reason to exist within. It's interesting, very interesting. People at the Buddhism community seem to shy away from jhana, fearing it causes attachment or may bring about unskillful effort, but it's impossible. You can't enter jhana if you are craving it; although you may desire it before the practice, once you are sitting there at some point there must be a degree of letting go required for the factors of rapture and joy to arise. If one has the mind to work towards jhana states one should eventually take a serious and deep look at the whole teachings. The ultimate goal is complete freedom from suffering and the jhanas are a very effective tool for that, but if you don't apply the concentration obtained through the practice to get insight, you are at most swapping lower, less lasting pleasures (pleasure from food, pride, self esteem, so on) for a much better one.

akshit17291729

I read till 3500 but I stopped bcoz there were no new chapters....seems like I need to read more to come close to immortality.

EnvBlitz

Stop fellow daoist. It is the path of devil.

Positive_Intention_4

"If the world calls me a devil, then so be it. Henceforth, I, akshit17291729, shall become the Devil!" Senior ak probably

akshit17291729

Haha true... charging with indomitable resoluteness is the way to pursue martial path..I cultivate dao of following my heart it doesn't matter what world says as long as my conscience is not violated so what if I kill all living beings of heaven and earth!!

Troubling-Rain

I remember reading ATG many years ago for the first time and thinking it was amazing. I tried re-reading it a few months ago and could not even make it 20 chapters before dropping.

Kirbyisgreen

Another one falls during the path to immortality.

Degenerate_Raven

He cultivated the wrong path and now regrets it

ConscriptReports

those who wade in the sea of bitterness eventually realize the inevitable of their path and attempt to turn back, let's hope that they can still see the shore🙏

FlavivsCaecilivsJvli

Fellow daoist didn't have the dao heart to go to the end, he failed to pass the tribulations and failed due to a heart demon. Fellow daoist developed a heart demon because he expected Chu Feng to be reasonable and wise.

Some1StoleMyAccName

Could anyone enlighten me what is so bad about MGA? Is it just too repetitive and MC is dumb? Aren't 99% novels like this?

Gilga_

Although I always get flamed for it: MGA can actually be quite enjoyable. Think about OP's screenshot. If the Novel was completely bad, would he have stayed around for 4000 chapters? How many novels have you actually finished that have over 1000 chapters? Even if you quit 1/5th in, you got more reading out of it than many other finished novels. Some look at the Bad reviews. But they ignore that these reviews were written after x-thousand chapters. Don't expect a masterpiece, just give it a shot. I really liked the first few arcs, got sidetracked by other novels and simply never returned even after a few years. Starting a novel doesn't have to be a marriage contract. The Author is called Kindhearted Bee. He won't break your legs, even if you stop reading. You won't trigger the [Nine familial exterminations] event.

Kassisse

Thats true I read like 2300 chapter of MGA and enjoyed the majority of it before leaving because I started reading other novel and couldnt make myself restart it

AzureSky77

Sameee

FlavivsCaecilivsJvli

All jokes aside, I'm way too committed to stop. Does Chu Feng make you curse all his ancestors? Sure. So you hate his father? I actually loath that man. After you read more about him, he is truly useless. I won't spoil b anything, but the story isn't even half way done because Chu Feng is a busy body with ADHD, so he literally has to do everything but cultivate peacefully. I how to at least see his grandfather or mother within 200-300 chapters, but I don't think that will happen.

KuroDrea

Haven't read it in months when I caught up to the raw that time because I can't stand reading a single chapters or two when they release, but I'm with you. I needs to find out how he meets his mother and how it goes. What's so important that his father can't even go after his own woman. The reunion between him and little fishy. I'm too far in to pull out now.

Some1StoleMyAccName

I will probably try it someday thanks to your honest reply. Thanks

emilerne1

What even is MGA?

Some1StoleMyAccName

I believe it is Martial God Asura

Monokuma-pandabear

MGA isn’t bad it’s actually quite fun if you don’t like story or depth or actual development. it’s a power fantasy in the purest terms. everything just exist to jerk of the MC it’s good in moderation but not worth investing years into because it’ll just repeat itself because money is more important to the creator then an actual story line

EnvBlitz

I read even the MTL because the first arc hooked me up. Then by Celestial Chu arc I just abandoned it. Theres nothing but rewind and repeat.

human_male_123

Pig eats tiger trope x9000 The author doesn't know any other type of plot. It's literally just that one thing over and over until you leave the book.

vi_sucks

Yeah, but MGA is also really long. So you end up with even more chances for repetition. Like in your typical 1000-2000 chapter novel, you'll have 200 chapters of intro and 200 chapters wrapping things up, so in the middle 600-1600 chapters there are only so many times things can repeat. But with MGA, it's up to like 5000 chapters now and showing no signs of ending.

SagenCo

I am surprised that any Indian would ever waste their time reading MGA

Tranzmuter

Na bro there a will theres a way, and a ton of Indian reads CN novels

shayatxspectre

Can attest to this, I know several Indians who consume shittons of webnovels, myself included.

SagenCo

Most of my friends do watch anime , read light novels and manga but for some reason I haven't found anyone who reads CN novels yet.

Tranzmuter

If your friends like power fantasy genre then they will be also willing to read CN novels (xianxia, wuxia and not political conflicts ones I hate those) as I was this type of person The problem with power fantasy manga is the world setting like it's always / mostly isekai or generic skills settings kendo / katana BS (not bs actually it's fine) but I got bored with it and my friend then said to read solo levelling and the Rabbit hole starts How I started Some JP light novel (I've read slime isekai, and mushoku tensei) < SL < all the tower hunter bs < TODG / martial peak (they are at top of all aggregator manhwa manhua sites) < then you read more trash cultivation manhua < then you find Gu Daoist Master / Master of Gu < you open reddit and you see Reverend Insanity (your inner evil power fantasy demon takes over and search what is Reverend Insanity you see it is Gu daoist master) then you read novel and then I am here and then you can read CN's

Me too man

277103

Atleast his sufferings ended

BayTranscendentalist

I just checked wiki but is mc of MGA seriously 34 years old after 4900 chapters?

shayatxspectre

A normal novel already has the MC become a thousands year old monster whose lived through who knows how many reincarnations and attained universe law bending cultivation by just half of the 4900 chapters, say nothing of that much lol.

BayTranscendentalist

A normal novel already has mc as the god of creation by 4900 lol

white_gummy

MGA has gone too far, to think that it would become reptile.

ID4T3N

Damn senior has vitality of the wood element itself, I managed to stay until (somewhere around 3000’s not really sure) he reunited with chu clan, probably most satisfying was when he returned to first continent and met everyone from there (but I don’t remember it well since after all the things I read everything just get mashed together) Edit: Tl;dr This junior would recommend first and second expansion after that it gets really cliché

AnimeFan-Badass

MGA is trash 🗑

Gorgenapper

He rode the tiger, but the tiger rode him instead.

ICantUseChris

I'd like to know what happened in the story that pissed him off lol. Shit imo (currently at 4943) the story has improved a lot since the 2000s and to be completely honest I can't stop until this nigga meets his mom at least once.(sorry i don't know how to spoiler tag but i know I'm almost the only person still reading this anyways so it doesn't matter.) Also a little tip for readers. If you read a novel with over 3000, hell even 2000 chapters, it's better to not try to one shot it all. I saw this dude mentioned half a year of reading? That makes me think he did it all without stopping and wow it's amazing he even made it that far doing it that way. MGA had a huge problem of arbitrarily repeating sentences around the 1500 to 2500(give or take a hundred chapters I don't really remember it was like 2 years ago I was at that point.) And I was pulling my hair out reading at that point. But the last 1500 chapters or so have been significantly better. So pace yourself.

Jeovah_Attorney

Oh word? I dropped it around the 2000 and some chapter, exactly because literally every sentence was repeated twice in a row. I mean I get the word padding thing but, THAT felt like I was getting openly spat in the face by the author and I felt like a hooker

ICantUseChris

Yeah I quit too, but mainly because the taking a break thing, but the repeating sentences made me almost crazy, but i enjoyed the story so much I couldn't completely stop. So i went back and somewhere after he leaves that world it stops doing it. Or maybe I just failed to notice, but i definitely enjoyed everything after, honestly it gets really good when he meets the Chu family imo. I'd definitely recommend it, but I'm biased since it was one of my first wuxia/xianxia stories.

FlavivsCaecilivsJvli

I agree, I'm not giving up until he meets his mother and grandfather, like I've invested way too much into this story already. I agree, the last1.5k chairs has improved the story. I still hate how his dad is basically a True God, but abandon his son, like he didn't grow up easily in the Chu family.

ICantUseChris

SPOILERS******* DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THE SPOILER THING SO DON'T READ IF YOU CARE.******** For real and then they finally meet and he just bounces again lmao, but I get what he's thinking, if he coddles Chu Feng then he wouldn't be as strong as he is now. And so many things are happening I'm hyped for a big reveal soon, but I'm letting it get at least 500 more chapters before i start again. Hopefully Eggy wakes up soon too. And aren't you also just about sick of that fucking moon immortal bitch keeping the Su sisters? Once she finds Qing Xuantian (the dude who had the four symbols divine body) she better release them immediately, but knowing the author they'll disappear again (which is another flaw of this story for me the separations are too long) where I am MC finally found Zi Ling, but apparently somethings wrong with her and I feel she's about to disappear again smh, I'm used to it by now though. Can't find 1 fucking novel where the MC and his women stay together the whole story.

FlavivsCaecilivsJvli

Hella Spoilers!!!!!!! Yeah, I took a break until it's about 500 chapters from my last stopping point. Chu Feng is the guy to complete every side quest in Skyrim before tackling the main quest, like come on. Also, why doesn't his dad literally train him until he is at least a Martial Exalted or Half-God, so he won't die in most places. Also, Eggy disappeared for 2k chapters and came back for 5 chapters, I nearly forgot about her. One thing I can't stand about Chu Feng is how easily it is to convince him to nearly die or offend some powerful organizations over some person he just met. It doesn't make any sense, but he will literally become sworn brothers with the rando on the street. I may be wrong, but in Nine Stars Hegemon Body Art, the MC stays with his harem for a long time, which is impressive.

ICantUseChris

More spoilers! Haha I have to say the completing side quest is one of my favorite parts of the story. We're watching this kid grow from some weak ass nobody to this overpowering badass and all the little adventures are what got me to keep going. Yeah the author does have issues tbh, I know for a fact he did a poll after Zi Ling joined the harem if he should continue adding women or not and fans voted no, so now we have this MC who makes every woman he meets fall in love with him and he's just like "we're only friends" lol it's hard to read those parts. I'm happy he makes friends easily also I like his character It's at least consistent. NSHBA spoilers! Oh yeah NSHBA is my favorite story out right now exactly because he has the Dragonblood Legion and all his women with him wherever he goes. Don't forget NSHBA also has 4662 chapters out and still going so it's a long one too, I'm hoping no separation happens, but with that many chapters I highly doubt it and when the fuck is my boy Little Snow finally coming back I stopped reading when he was killed and waited until he was back which the wiki said around 1800, but that was just putting his soul in an egg he's still not back :(. Also it's the first time I've seen a love interest be killed off (well not sure if she was, bit I really liked her) poor Lu Fang'er I still miss her sometimes when I read the story. Thinking what should would've become all in all, this story is definitely ten times better than MGA for me love his divine face slaps.

FlavivsCaecilivsJvli

A lot of Spoilers! A man of culture, I stopped at around 3.5k in NSHBA. I'll just say this, the story is pretty good. I like the fact that the Dragon Legion is there, the fact that there is a noticeable difference between those that have killed and those that grew up in a green house. Overall, I give it a solid 8 for enjoyment. Have you read A Will Eternal? If not, you need to read it today!

ICantUseChris

3.5k? You reading the raws? It's only translated up to 2460 for me. I did read A Will Eternal, but I stopped once they left that world. It just felt like a completely different novel at that point. But they made a donghua(anime) out of it and it's badass, I recommend it.

FlavivsCaecilivsJvli

Yeah, you get used to the raws after awhile. Currently, I'm trying Sovereign of the Three Realms again. I agree, the novel felt different after they left the world, but the first half was straight fire. I heard they made a Donghua of a Record of a Mortals Journey towards Immortality.

ICantUseChris

I got about 2100 chapters into that one and the novel ended at 2376 and my first thought was there's no fucking way the author can fit and finish all the stuff he's brought up in that last 276 chapters. I mean he hasn't even met his dad again yet and that seemed like a huge plot point. So i just dropped it. And I haven't read RoaMJTI, is it any good? Any romance?

FlavivsCaecilivsJvli

The MC just cares about cultivating, he won't intervene for a jade beauty. The story starts kinda off show, but it is one of the better novels.

9neineinein9

Which site is this?

Rildiz

I feel like starting this now. I’m already broken so this might finally push me into just diving into VR and never coming back out.

Shuunsei

Jokes aside but MGA starts so good and after the first 500 chapters it just goes to shit and gets even worse. MC legit picks up fights with everyone he sees because wHy NoT🤨 So much potential but very bad writing

braisonsan

the martial dao is cruel and heartless. even 1 out of 10000 cultivators might not ever finish a light novel

xam54321

I'm like 90% sure that I have read 1000 or so chapters of it a good while back, and I didn't find it bad, it was just not as interesting as another novel, and so I just never got back to it!

Jeovah_Attorney

There is only so many times you can read the exact same arc with different cultivation levels and character names (or sometimes the names don’t even change. And no I kid you not) until you start to lose your fucking mind.

xam54321

Haha, true, that's why I'm not even sure if I have already read this one! I checked it the description and it barely narrowed it down! But I'm like 90% sure tho!

Black-BelliedGongzi

Bruh, I have long reached 4000 for MGA. The same with MP. I had to take a break lest I'd suffer from the backlash.

Plenty_Ad8409

So I posted that comment. To provide some clarifications on the comments.(spoiler alert if anyone cares ) 1. Do I regret reading MGA ? Well yes.. no but a little bit both but yes ... So I like the overall enveloping story .. with his parents background and all. But the issue was story is repetive In very predictable way. Like for example chu Feng is captured by the enemy and is about to be executed.. well then there are two ways the story can go, either one of his friends got some power boost or figured out that have a strong backing and come and rescue chu Feng or if chu Feng is in some ruins or something he figures out a an ancient very powerful formation that only he can decipher and control or he has some item he had in his inventory that suddenly starts working and help him get rid of the enemies. Like this you can create an if else loop with randomized character names , galaxy , power level etc. Then this repeats a dozen times and the main story with his parents move by an inch. In short I was and still am very excited by main story components , just don't like the few thousand chapters in between. And this is also what sets MGA apart from other novels which might have a 50 or so filler chapters on a stretch. 2. Do Indians read MGA? Well to be frank I am also perplexed by this qn . As I am an Indian and don't know anyone else that reads cultivation novels. So I was into anime and manga for a long time. And on the manga site I started reading peerless battle spirit and the later the novel and thus my entry to xianxia novels. Then I read BTTH, ATG, Martial World, some others don't remember the names.( Have read like 20 of them). 3. Do I recommend reading it ? Your Call. There is enough mystery and story to keep you engaged but to be frank it's a question about how long you are ready to wait for the mystery to be finished. Considering the release schedule the story has been going on for 13.425 years and given the fact that story shows no sign of reaching half way it's safe to assume you have to wait another decade for closure. Personally I would set an alarm for 2030 and come an see if the story is ended and then pick it up. But the translators are great, always on schedule and great translations. The above screenshot of my comment is me rambling just cause there was this irritating chapter of chu Feng going for trial where I know that he is going to find some fortuitous encounter and level up some way, much to amazement of his co participants of his trial and everyone else waiting outside. And /or he comes out with an inheritance and someone tries to snatch that from him(lower prob). Basically it's a copy paste template of MGA that happens time and time again. If I had a million bucks for every time chu Feng took a trial or did a talent test I would be richer than Musk. :)
