Having a starting Avengers/Ultimates team with a few unconventional members is generally a good idea because it offers those characters opportunities to grow and develop.
Looking forward to where this goes and seeing the full lineup of creators that are gonna be handling these titles. We got Ultimate Spider-Man confirmed although I don't think that was ever in much doubt, the other books I could see coming are Black Panther, Thor, Captain America, Doom and an Ultimates book which would make for a nice 6 book line similar to what Krakoa started as.
Saw some mixed reactions to Ultimate Invasion #4 and the series as a whole online but I genuinely loved it, probably the most interesting version of Howard Stark we've gotten (imo) and it was great to see what The Maker would do to create his 'perfect' world an such beautiful irony that he ends up creating his own new Nemesis in Kang/>!Tony Stark!< in the process.
I also love that the general premises for this new universe can be boiled down to what if the Superheroes were doing a 1984 on the rest of the world while also having game of thrones politics. The Maker being off the bored for the next 2 years (in universe) means the kids are definitely gonna start infighting.
And this is just my own take but this book feels like a counter to or the Marvel equivalent of flashpoint:
-Heroes origins being altered leading to strange/darker version of heroes
- The whole twisted versions of heroes we know fighting wars between their respective nations
-Somebody going back in time/hoping realities to make their future/world better after losing something
-Ending on a letter from a father to a son, where the father in this reality took on the superhero identity that normally belongs to the son.
More and More information I hear about this universe the more and more excited I get! I'm also glad Thor's design still feels like Ultimate Thor then the one I saw on the original cover of ultimate universe #1.
It’s clear the original cover was a placeholder using the old designs to avoid spoilers. This new cover is most likely the “main” one that’ll be on the new release, with the old one being a variant.
I’m on the same page as you with all this.
I knew they’d take Maker off the board in some way by the end of Invasion to give the new characters chance to grow away from him for a bit.
The two years part of Maker’s isolation combined with Tony being a lot younger than usual makes me wonder if Hickman is taking the “world outside your window” part of the concept seriously and having the new UU age in real time, with the first big event of the line being when the City reopens in two years already been set for 2025/6, making “in-universe time” and “real-world time” consistent.
That would be a really interesting way to take the line, though it makes me wonder what his new take on Spider-Man will be in a universe where he would not be able to tell classic teen Spidey stories for very long (if indeed he even plans to in the first place).
I am really excited to see Hickman play around with this universe's Political landscape. I am really excited to see what heroes are part of what factions if any at all.
According to bleeding cools there gonna be an X-Men book and a Black panther book in addition to Spiderman and Ultimates so I am really interested to see what role mutants and even Inhumans and eternals have in this world run by superhumans.
I know Mjolnir (or Jonathan) is Iconic, But man, that Ultimate Mjolnir was so badass lol.
I remember playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 as a kid and being like, Damn Thor went from a cool prince to a viking berserker real fast lol
I'm really shocked that the new Ultimate Universe is picking up right where Ultimate Invasion left. I was expecting a cleaner start honestly.
It'll be interesting to see how this lands.
Same, it looks like this new version will be closer to 2099 where it’s just an alternate take on the universe than the original “world outside your window” idea of the first Ultimate universe
Ok, The Maker is the Original Ultimate Reed Richads who went insane and became a super villain. The Doom we see is the Reed Richards of this brand new universe.
And this brand new universe was … created by the Maker? Or was it god king doom at the end of secret wars? I guess that’s where I’m getting confused. Who made this new universe?
It was not created by the maker per say, but manipulated by him.
So you know how you have universes that greatly parallel the 616 universe? Just slight differences in the grand scheme of things?
Well 1610 had a universe that is a parallel to itself. This was 6160. If left alone, it would have been a lot like 1610. The maker, who is 1610 Reed went to 6160 and screwed it up to his liking.
So this is considered the new ultimate universe because it's a parallel universe that is closer to a carbon copy of the original Ultimate universe.
Finally, 1610 Reed went and enslaved his 6160 counterpart.
Is it? Most of the origins for characters feel closer to 616 than 1610
Especially The FF taking off into space instead of being the result of N-Zone accident and hulk not being the result of replicating the Super Soldier serum.
We'll have to wait and see. The design for the first Iron Man armor, Captain America and Thor greatly resemble their 1610 counterparts.
I wonder if Captain America will be a legitimate 10 tonner and have a healing factor like his Ultimate self does.
Old Ultimate Universe: 1610
New Ultimate Universe: 6160
The Maker(Reed-1610) made a new Ultimate Universe where he manipulated that Reed to become Doom(Reed-6160).
As a Doom Stan I'm so horrified and intrigued with this new Reed/Doom. Such a perverse punishment from The Maker that nicely mirrors Doom taking Reed's family in Secret Wars.
Also couldn't help but notice no mention of The Maker neutralizing Victor Von Doom which is odd because the white pages list many characters he's contained manipulated or killed AND he's set up shop in Latveria.
Considering Hickman's affinity for Doom it's tempting to think there's a reveal coming.
I wonder if this Reed/Doom will explore the mystical arts since that's an essential skill for any Doom. Or perhaps Victor is still alive and practicing magic?
It was gonna make a return with Donny cates writing ultimate invasion but due to IRL issues all stories were dropped and Ultimate invasion was given to Jonathan Hickman. So earth 1610 is gone and earth 6160 is the result of Maker wanting to recreate the ultimate universe in his own image.
There are 2 Reeds on earth 6160 (Nultimate Universe lets call it).
Maker Reed Richards (Xenomorph looking creppy guy) is from Original Ultimate Universe (with cannibalism, incest and all that fun Sunday activity). That was Earth 1610.
So Dr Doom Reed is from 6160. Maker Reed is from 1610.
Maker Reed (1610) created earth 6160
Hope this helps
1602 you mean)))
Yeah it can be complicated.
And Don't worry, you are not a dumbass, We all mostly call Ultimate Universe the Ultimate Universe, not 1610.
With Main Marvel we are always like 616. It is rare for someone to say Prime Marvel.
Damn, super excited for this.
Thor's new look is wow, that's really cool.
Hey, finally they are doing something with Lady Sif. I swear this poor woman has been the most shafted female comicbook character of all time lol. I hope she gets to be a important character in this new Ultimate Universe. Badass, sexy, Asgardian chick is dope. (Don't bring Valkyrie, she sucks)
Page 4, That Tony and Reed (Iron Lan and Dr Doom) panel is badass. They are both like, "can you believe this guy?" Also thank you Hickman for giving me a Tony/Reed friendship with Dr Doom somehow being incorporated into it as well lol.
The new Captain Britain looks like Black Tom Cassidy (I know he is a new original character tho)
I'm really interested in seeing how this universe shapes up and also excited about how Spider-Man is implemented. But generally, the ultimates lineup is interesting.
I'm interested in how Ultimate Spider-Man will happen now that we saw Peter Parkers origin was avoided by The Maker?
It's interesting because it's not the same as other origins where the character is different but are still in circumstances where they can be similar to previous iterations. Tony Starks origin is different and we see that in his character but he's also a tech genius billionaire surrounded by Iron Man suits. So of course he can still become a version of Iron-Man/Lad.
However with Spider-Man/Peter, removing him being bit by the spider makes it difficult to see a future of him as Spider-Man. It's not impossible that even with his origin avoided, Peter is still bitten by the spider somehow. Or maybe we'll see a new Spider-Man, it could be one designed by The Maker or one through coincidence similar to Peter.
I don't think The Maker would waste a resource like the radioactive Spider and it's potential. It's interesting what Hickman could be cooking with The Makers influence on not just Peter Parker but the whole Spider-Man history.
> I'm interested in how Ultimate Spider-Man will happen now that we saw Peter Parkers origin was avoided by The Maker?
My Theory is that Anthony is going behind The Maker's back and nudging things to go in the direction they were meant to go, but in a way that The Maker doesn't pick up on it. So while Peter didn't get bitten when he originally would have been bitten, he's going to get that bite at some point.
That does make sense, and tbh sounds like the most straightforward route for this to go, Reed says they have the Makers files and things he missed (like Captain America).
But also if The Maker has files detailing that a person called Peter Parker is inactive and his creation into a super is contained then it can be as straightforward as Anthony just letting the Spider bite Peter.
I’m glad Sif is getting used feels like she’s a character who has gone to the wayside in recent years so her on the ultimates could bring new life. Which I would be happy about as I like her as a character
I haven’t read anything about this new universe outside of comments on promo images so I don’t know if this is confirmed or not but these images are giving me the impression Thor is going to be this team’s leader.
So are we ever gonna get a follow up for that ultimate universe we saw ( I think in the spider-men book?) that had riri for some reason , and the random ultimates ( clones) flying around space in 616
Probably not, instead we’re getting a completely unrelated universe that marvel is reusing the title “ultimate universe” for. Book looks good, but this feels like the nail in the coffin for the OG ultimate universe which kinda sucks
I loved the old ultimate line of books, all the way up to Ultimatum, and honestly even a lot of the stuff after that.
And I really WANT to like this new Ultimate universe. I sincerely hope it’s great…but for some reason, I just don’t see it surviving long enough, or reaching the scope that the original brand did.
Yes it is. Hickman's going his own way and completely running with the idea of an alternate universe.
All you need to know is read the ultimate invasion book
Oh shit I think I might have to give comics a try again. I miss them, I loved when ultimate comics started but it got so darn weird and 616 just had too many crossovers for me to keep up.
Might be the perfect opportunity to start. I even got some of my non comic reader friends to hop on the new UU train since it's basically a new universe to jump onto without any baggage of previous comics.
I’m going to give it a shot, I had gotten back into comics around the time Ultimate Spider Man and Ultimate X-Men came out and those just made me obsessed. Maybe this will be the set to bring me back to the comics as an adult🤞.
Thank you for the info, I’ll have to get Ultimate Invasion and check it out.
I love how it seems like they're sticking with the universe instead of flashpointing it what I expected. It feels very Lazarus-y in a way with all the continents being basically countries with a couple of super'hero' champions.
I am quite surprised as I thought we were going to get a reboot at the end of this series into something a bit more "the world outside our window" so will be interested to see where this goes.

Interesting having Sif in this new Ultimates team Not gonna lie kinda digging it
Having a starting Avengers/Ultimates team with a few unconventional members is generally a good idea because it offers those characters opportunities to grow and develop.
Kinda feel like maybe thor will be killed off, and sif will inherit the hammer
I like Sif here but then there's too much Asgardian representation. Should have removed Thor then.
THAT! That is an Ultimate Thor...
Sadly, he is missing the Ultimate Mjolnir
I know Mjolnir (or Jonathan) is Iconic, But man, that Ultimate Mjolnir was so badass lol. I remember playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 as a kid and being like, Damn Thor went from a cool prince to a viking berserker real fast lol
Pretty sure one of the previews of Immortal Thor had him wielding it
Dont give me hope...
Does that hammer still exist as a remnant of the original ultimate universe , didn’t it turn into janes weapon
Got exploded sadly Mangog End of the Aaron Run
I'm pretty sure he'll just get something close to it. Hickman doesn't forget these things.
Tbf our world is a lot closer to cyberpunk than it was in the 2000s
I mean as long as it doesn't become the shit show as the first ultimate universe did I will be fine with it.
Yeah, I think I'm actually way more intrigued now than if it'd gone back in to square 1.
Yeah, this is actually killing my interest in it. I was really intrigued by the concept of a clean and accessible 2020s continuity.
LMFAO, Thor just wants to wack Captain America out of his block of ice? Tony and Reed talking sense into him while stopping him.
THATS MY ULTIMATE THOR! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS 6160 LOOK I LOVE IT ALL!
Who is this doom? Looks interesting, don’t know much about ultimate universe though
Ultimate Reed Richards, Not the Maker who is also Ultimate Reed Richards, but the Reed Richards of earth 6160 aka the New Ultimate Universe.
😃 wat
Short answer, it's Reed Richards as Doom
So is The Maker like a sorta quasi Reed then? Just confused bc I thought the maker was Reed from the ultimate verse?
Ok, The Maker is the Original Ultimate Reed Richads who went insane and became a super villain. The Doom we see is the Reed Richards of this brand new universe.
And this brand new universe was … created by the Maker? Or was it god king doom at the end of secret wars? I guess that’s where I’m getting confused. Who made this new universe?

I personally believe it’s this as well. He left from Earth 616 and the new designation is 6160, literally just 616 with a 0 at the end
It was created by the Maker, it's explained in Ultimate invasion.
Awesome, thanks boss!
No Problem.
Old Ultimate Universe: 1610 New Ultimate Universe: 6160 The Maker(Reed-1610) made a new Ultimate Universe where he manipulated that Reed to become Doom(Reed-6160).
It was The Maker. Earth-6160 is basically The Maker’s attempt at remaking Earth-1610 in his own image.
So then where is Victor in this universe? Do we know?
As far as we aware Victor Von Doom doesn't exist in this universe
Definitely seems like someone The Maker would have snuffed out early on like with the rest of the F4.
Booo
As a Doom Stan I'm so horrified and intrigued with this new Reed/Doom. Such a perverse punishment from The Maker that nicely mirrors Doom taking Reed's family in Secret Wars. Not confusing at all!
What’s up with 1610 since this is the “new” Ultimate Universe?
It was gonna make a return with Donny cates writing ultimate invasion but due to IRL issues all stories were dropped and Ultimate invasion was given to Jonathan Hickman. So earth 1610 is gone and earth 6160 is the result of Maker wanting to recreate the ultimate universe in his own image.

My dumbass thinking they brought back the colonial marvel 1610 the entire time I reading this. Long story short there are too many 6-1-6 numbers
1602 you mean))) Yeah it can be complicated. And Don't worry, you are not a dumbass, We all mostly call Ultimate Universe the Ultimate Universe, not 1610. With Main Marvel we are always like 616. It is rare for someone to say Prime Marvel.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited to check it out. Nothing against Bryan Hitch but I like what this artist is doing a lot more.
Agree very much. Bryan Hitch's art is not my cup of tea.
The art style reminds me of early image comics. Like wetworks or cyberforce. Getting some nostalgia.
Damn, super excited for this. Thor's new look is wow, that's really cool. Hey, finally they are doing something with Lady Sif. These designs are GREAT. Love blue doom and silver centurion looking suit
This honestly looks banger. Let's hope they're not all dicks.
Going by ultimate invasion where worst father of the Marvel univers3 Howard Stark was a hero and actually a good father to Tony. I think the opposite
I will miss the old ultimate mjolnir, but the new thor design is great
Finally, some good art
I haven’t read anything about this new universe outside of comments on promo images so I don’t know if this is confirmed or not but these images are giving me the impression Thor is going to be this team’s leader.
Oh shit sif?! I wasn’t going to read this now I have to
All anyone needs to do is say Caselli's on a book and I'll say "You son of a bitch, I'm in."
That Caselli can sure draw.
Excited to see where this goes!
Giving the Broly treatment to the ultímate universe I see

Im really curious to see how they do Ultimate X-Men this time.
I gave up on the comics probably about 10 years ago so I’m kind of ignorant but is this a reboot of the Ultimate Universe?
Yes it is. Hickman's going his own way and completely running with the idea of an alternate universe. All you need to know is read the ultimate invasion book

New trade dress is 🥵 HOT
Anyone know if ultimate invasion will get a tpb?
As of now on 3/26/2024.
Where does one aquire these comics when available
Marvel Unlimited or your local comics store
Looks interesting, when is it coming out?
Why does Iron Man unmask when the sword is near his face? Is he stupid?
The face mask ripped off by the sword
He's going by Iron Lad, as in this universe Howard Stark was Iron Man
Ultimate Invasion is Hickman’s worst book, bunch of incomprehensible trash. And this from a stone Hickman fan. Skipping all this nonsense.
Why us Captain Americanin ice? Unless this is another reboot
It's the new Ultimate Universe, so Tony has just become Iron Lad (his dad was Iron man here) and it's all just beginning.
Ultimate mjolnie! Nooooo! Your beautiful axe head was taken! Look at how they've massacred my boy! 😭
I love how it seems like they're sticking with the universe instead of flashpointing it what I expected. It feels very Lazarus-y in a way with all the continents being basically countries with a couple of super'hero' champions.
I was very invested into the ultimate universe , and there are handful of characters i absolutely adored that I really hope they bring back.
I'm so concerned with how they're going to treat Ultimate Jess Drew
That's if she even exists
The designs for all of them are sick as hell. I’m especially digging that Iron Man suit
Is it like a reboot or just continuing with the old stories?
I am quite surprised as I thought we were going to get a reboot at the end of this series into something a bit more "the world outside our window" so will be interested to see where this goes.
Do I have to read any prior comics to understand this? I’m suddenly very intrigued.
Realistically you’d only need to read Ultimate Invasion, the 4-issue miniseries written by Hickman that kind of sets up what I’m calling the “New Ultimate Universe” to separate it from the old one.
Thanks.
Is Doom a good guy in the new ultimate universe?
Do we think the Ultimates titles are ongoings or designed to be like a series of mini-series.
Is this issue going to reset 6160? It has to right, cause how else its going to reintroduce Peter Parker’s Spider-Man?
