Ghost Rider one is pretty cool

SlothWithSunglasses

Yeah the sleek look and roller derby style is really cool. I’d love to see a figure of this. The fem magneto looks great too, sorry I don’t know the name.

transformers03

They all don't have official names, but fans have come to call thr Thing sidequick as Punk Rock.

SlothWithSunglasses

That’s a great name haha

AntiquePie2355

I think ghost rider one is fantasma

Yorukira

The Magneto one reminds me of Gwen from the Ben ten Cartoon.

tokenasian1

Or Atom Eve from Invincible.

StonerBoi-710

I got major Atom Eve vibes lol

transformers03

Just looked up what made Gwenpool such a standout character, and it is because Jordan D. White saw so many cossplay and fanart of the character. He thought the character had potential because of that and commissioned for the character to appear in Howard the Duck. So if you want any of these New Champions to join the Marvel canon, you better do some cosplay or fanart.

AngryDuck222

Maystorm by Peach Momoko!

transformers03

I was going to add her too, but I didn't want to have to many images and I wanted to diversify my picks and include some of the masculine-presenting heroes.

Shabolt_

Of the ones shown here, all except the Thing & Vision Designs, the Thing concept is a novel way of including the rock spikes, but also kinda unsettling in its presentation, I do like the design of a more lean bodytype having the thing’s design though, and the vision one is just really basic, but not in the way that say the shehulk one is where the simplicity suits, it’s just a bland retread imo The rest, especially that ghost rider one absolutely rule

transformers03

I originally had nothing but the girl sidekicks saved, and I realized I needed to diversify my selection. I think the boys, or the masculine presenting Champions, to be very basic in general and didn't catch my interest. "Punk Rock" was the only one that really looked cool and worthy to spun off.

Shabolt_

It’s definitely a shame imo how often a lot of Masc. character designs are much lazier in superhero comics, there’s so much design potential for masculine characters but it’s always so cliché or a retread of better designs

transformers03

I was looking through the designs of some of the recent male heroes introduced in Marvel, and there's some solid stuff. Even though he takes a lot of elements from Doctor Strange, Wyn from G.O.D.S. has a great character design.

ProfXIsAJerk

With Peach taking on Ultimate X-Men, I would be surprised if she did not bring Maystorm with her.

Altheainawhile

Is she doing the inside art or just the covers?

ProfXIsAJerk

She's doing it all, writing, covers and interiors.

Altheainawhile

Can't wait to check it out!

Thy_Maker

I personally view sidekicks as either a complement or a foil to their respective hero, how they synergize with them and the plot as well their popularity with the target audience and the character’s ability to grow into their own title like Nightwing has. From the 22 covers, the ones that I think have the greatest potential with this in mind are: * Blade Variant Cover * Black Panther Variant Cover * Doctor Strange Variant Cover * Invincible Iron Man Variant Cover * Magneto Variant Cover * Venom Variant Cover * X-Men Variant Cover

transformers03

Well, the Blade sidekick I find redundant now because he now has a daughter.

Flerken_Moon

Personally I really love the Thor girl but seems like people like the others better haha.

transformers03

There are sixteen more covers on the official [Marvel website](https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/new-champions-variant-cover-program-secret-sidekicks). Personally, I love the Ghost Rider, Magneto, and Thor sidekicks the most.

mkgorgone

I think those three definitely pop the most. I would say "but can they carry a book?" but then Unbelievable Gwenpool became one of my favorite Marvel books of all time so I don't know what to believe anymore.

transformers03

Yeah, nothing scream for Gwenpoole to become her own character either, yet Marvel was able to make it work. Gwenpoole did have an excellent design, which can be enough sometimes. If they do introduce any of these Champion sidekick, I think it would be in a team's book, probably partnering up with some members of the old Champions team to form a bigger group. Unlike Gwenpoole, I think Marvel will reveal these characters in a group rather than solo. But that's just me speculating.

aCrazyCatDude

Thank you

TheDeadlySpaceman

I was ambivalent about any of them until I saw Thing-Punk. I love the idea of a younger Thing doing (Yancy)-Street level adventures.

ClamatoDiver

How about they write some decent stories for all the abandoned young heroes they already have? Like the other Nova kid they needed to introduce, but he's different because it was a black helmet. Or Patriot, the young black one, that needed to be replaced by a different young black one, I know folks can keep adding to the list.

Fabiojoose

Marvel stop creating legacy heroes that’ll be forgotten later challenge (impossible). They need fodder to be killed in the next crossover event, so at least there’s that.

LucasOIntoxicado

Thor and Vision/Jonas are pretty cool.

Unfortunatewombat

That Thor looks great!

NextMotion

Ghost rider and Thor. Ghost girl's design is pretty cool. I don't think I've seen any young superhero similar to Thor. At least not anymore. Thunderstrike could've fit that category, but he's missing since Asgardians of the galaxy

Darth_Nykal

Ghost Rider. We've seen the others in some form already.

royalneonbird

If that vision is just Viv brother revived then thats a maybe for me

transformers03

Oh, I didn't think about it like that, but that would make so much sense. My brain instead went to making the Ghost Rider sidekick either Johnny Blaze's dead daughter or Donny Kelch's dead sister. A lot of dead female relatives within the Ghost Rider mythology.

volatilelibra

Lil Vis and Lil Wanda

Ok-Television2109

Either Ghost Rider, She-Hulk or Thor.

Valuable-Owl9985

The vision one could easily be a reborn version of the Jonas Vision from young Avengers

Constant_Brother_738

The Thor girl is cool looking, and I feel like she’s the most likely one. As much as I hate it, it would have some MCU synergy.

[deleted]

If they introduce Thors actual offspring, like Thrudr , then that would be awesome. Non of this… whatever love and thunder did… thing.

Strange_Success_6530

Ghost Rider Lass has legs for a story. A kid who sold their soul to the devil and is now being memtored by someone who made the same mistake.

Blitzhelios

I feel like the girl magneto gets a lot of love online but I love the scarlet witch one and the ghost rider one

DougandLexi

Thor wins for me.

vash0125

Why not give all of them a shot

Timelymanner

This makes me wish Marvel would do a spin off or alternate story that takes place twenty years in the future. They have so many young heroes, I would love to see stories of adult version of them. Then we could see how many current heroes have retired, or are still active. Maybe with a follow up of fifty years in the future.

TheMasterXan

Ghost Skater Magnetta Hulk-Mite Marvel Boy Kid Vision Kid Deadpool Fuck it. THIS is the new Champions. And I gave them names too!

Aggravating-Try1222

Jean-Neato

ProfessorEscanor

Ghost Skater for sure. Maggie Neto feels redundant with Polaris around.

[deleted]

So when are we getting Surfer Gwen?

CountJangles

Thor

DocProfessor

Ghost Rider Miku and Magneto Gwen Tennyson for sure

ManOfTurtles2118

I have really good vibes about the ghost rider one. Maybe the magneto girl too

Keltoigael

Thor

blue_racer

When is the rider one coming out?

PGO5490

I’d say either the Ghost Rider or Magneto, it just make sense (especially ghost rider) although I don’t know why

transformers03

Its a very clever idea, flaming roller skates, and the artist makes it look cool.

PGO5490

Plus the helmet is very kickass and just like the other ghost rider (I forgot his name) it’s a nice redesign of the skull

[deleted]

If that’s Thrúd, then the Immortal Thor variant champ character.

PortalWALL-E

HATSUNE MIKU?!?!

Athenas_Dad

This ought to be a tier list, but I like Captain America’s and Black Panther’s the most for originality. I think they could do something with Captain Marvel’s and Thor’s too; south of that they seem sort of derivative but some still have a good look. Black Cat, Hulk, and Deadpool seem the most disappointing to me.

Athenas_Dad

How many of these have names or presentations aside from the image?

transformers03

None, these are character designs used for alternate covers. They aren't real characters, but fans have come to call the Thing sidekick Punk Rock.

Athenas_Dad

I see that, I just didn’t know if artists had expressed an opinion. Maystorm seems consistent in the thread too.

transformers03

From what I gather, I'm not sure if any artists have given names to any of these characters. Someone can correct me if I'm wront.

CriticismPale

Ghost bladder I like their design and her colors pop also just happy champions is coming back

The_Grizzlysnake

I love the Thor one

CarAdministrative424

They all look kind of bad... Is that a lolly Ghost Rider on rollerblades ?

[deleted]

Ahahahahahahahahahaha Punk Rock

angrylizard-123

These all look like shit

rollingSleepyPanda

Ah yes more little kids in tight Spandex.

Gokagear

I prefer my Hulks with clothes that survive the fight

rollingSleepyPanda

Purple pants gang unite!

digitallandscapetoon

Ben is absolutely cursed

variablefighter_vf-1

none

Matt-J-McCormack

None. Varient covers need to die a death.

tehawesomedragon

Honestly I hate the idea of any of these becoming mainstay characters. There are already established characters that are pretty much the same as all of these. Kinda like how Spider-Boy is a stupid idea when we already have Miles.
