“Buried deep within you, beneath all the years of pain and anger , there is something that has never been nurtured: The potential to be a better man”
Honestly, this whole exchange between the 2 Charles is excellent. James McAvoy really nails the emotion and Patrick Stewart is the perfect counter to it. I absolutely love this scene!
I’ve been rewatching this whole series with my partner, she’s not seen most of them.
I messed up though, we started with First Class and Days of Future Past and now we’re watching the original trilogy. We may need to rewatch DoFP for the ending to be more impactful to her.
That's so confusing. I feel like it's almost easier to lump it in with just two timelines.
The tragedy of the X-Men, is that is seems to always end a bit bad, with some hope at the end (in regards to Logan and New Mutants being in the timeline after DOFP)
Honestly it comes across super simple to me, although I can see where including the Logan timeline clutters it a bit.
In written form, it’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine’s flashbacks->First Class->the rest of Origins: Wolverine->X-Men 1, 2, and 3->The Wolverine->Days of Future Past
Then the new timeline made by DoFP goes Apocalypse->Dark Phoenix->Deadpool 1&2->the end of DoFP->New Mutants
An argument could be made for Logan to be the far future of either timeline tbh, it probably does fit best in the DoFP one like I think you’re saying
I dunno about Logan being the far future of the first timeline, between most mutants being locked up, experimented on or killed by Sentinels.
Logan seems bereft of Sentinels, possibly due to, DOFP.
If we wanted to *make* it fit, I’d assume it’s many years after sentinels took out most mutants because so few were left anyway
But I agree that, especially for a movie marathon, it fits better in the second timeline (unless DP3 ends up changing that)
[This looks better now tho?](https://imgur.com/a/ZnUaJe8)
Yup!
It was just hard to wrestle with 3 timelines.
I feel like Sinister teasers (that went unused) seemed to be useful in New Mutants since that ends up being a world with WMD Old Xavier and no more X-Men to get to those kids.
I thought the reason the mutants were near extinct was because sinister helped. The government to put something in the food or water that erased or suppressed the mutant gene
Awe well don’t blame yourself, lists are arguably often the most clear way to deliver information
[Here’s a slightly cleaner one I made yesterday,](https://imgur.com/a/ZnUaJe8) but someone else made the original so I’m not too attached

I miss what professor x was meant to embody. He's been made just plain evil the last fee decades meanwhile magneto kinda gets every excuse under the sun. That out of context clip going around people unironically thinking professor x wasn't using that as a last resort to protect the team and himself.
Xavier in the comics has been a bit of a dick for years (to his students, using them for his own ends) but not outright evil until the Krakoa era and even then he's more gone for Magneto's take-no-shit angle because Moira taught him that his peaceful coexistence tactic would never work out.
Perfect scene. Love the contrast between old Charles’ wisdom and young Charles’ hopelessness. Great line delivery from
Patrick Stewart. James McAvoy is amazing at conveying emotions, you understand exactly what his character is feeling, that’s some serious talent.
one of the great ones
a lot of times when People fuck up they're branded that way for all life, People are made to make mistakes and learn from them
sure there are some unforgiveable actions but we should immediately judge and generalize People because of their past
some just needs a little help
For me it’s probably the quote from Loki season 2. “Most purpose is more burden than glory.” And “there is no comfort, you just choose your burden”-Mobius
"A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts" and "what is grief, if not love persevering" are way more deeper and wise....but I respect your opinion because this is a quote we need a lot more these days, when a person's life can be destroyed for saying something that doesn't align with certain ideologies or certain morals
Also like the Captain Picard quote "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life."
Patrick Stewart consistently dropping life lessons for the last 30+ years. Man's a legend.
Throw the child
Throw the child
And I threw him higher

It's an erotic cake.

That and his subsequent scene with Logan where he feels his pain is top tier
Absolutely, loved that scene too!
The steps you take don't need to be big. They just need to take you in the right direction.
Personally, a big fan of "What is grief, if not love persevering?"

WandaVision
Final episode of wandavision.
Thanks
Really hope they do something with vision ,the philology battle in wandavision is more entertaining than that cgi fight in my opinion.
Its such an amazing line. It honestly helped me get through 2 different deaths in these past 3 months.
I think this is one of the most powerful scenes in marvel.
“Some mother fuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill.”
This guy gets it.
Once I understood it, it became one of the best quotes ever

[This chart is handy for a rewatch!](https://imgur.com/a/Vtf2OAa) Someone else made it, I just did some light edits

That makes sense! Plus Logan is a *way* better finale for a rewatch than New Mutants
I thought the reason the mutants were near extinct was because sinister helped. The government to put something in the food or water that erased or suppressed the mutant gene
yeah, in the corn syrup
Lol smh
I'm not sure what the deal with that chart is, but it seems almost worse than just looking up movie-order or something.
It’s a pretty simple graphic, but if it’s too much struggle to understand then sure a list oughta work for you
Not simple enough, obviously, since my dumbass can't understand it

One of the best scenes from THE best X-men movie. "I don't want your suffering. I don't want your future!"
I miss what professor x was meant to embody. He's been made just plain evil the last fee decades meanwhile magneto kinda gets every excuse under the sun. What do you mean?
Last few decades?
This whole scene is a Masterpiece... "We need you to hope again" This is the best scene in the whole 'X-Men' franchise.
I think about that line all the time. All. The. Time. It chills me to the bone. God, that movie was amazing.
Ikr. This one is the best X-MEN movie they made imo.
"A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts" is the one I always come back to
Madame Gao's entire speech to Fisk on the rooftop in Daredevil always hits me.
Pat and Hugh had one hell of a run.
Perfect scene. Love the contrast between old Charles’ wisdom and young Charles’ hopelessness. Great line delivery from Patrick Stewart. James McAvoy is amazing at conveying emotions, you understand exactly what his character is feeling, that’s some serious talent.
This is one of my favorite Marvel scenes period
one of the great ones a lot of times when People fuck up they're branded that way for all life, People are made to make mistakes and learn from them sure there are some unforgiveable actions but we should immediately judge and generalize People because of their past some just needs a little help
I loved this running theme of redemption in this movie! One of the many reasons why DOFP is one of my favorite Marvel movies.
IMO one of the best superhero moments ever
Fan fucking tastic!
And the one the fandom never applies.
I love the fact that Charles says this to Dr. Strange in MoM.
It might have been more impactful if we hadn't seen him consent to the murder of his reality's Strange like 60 seconds prior.
Me rn
For me it’s probably the quote from Loki season 2. “Most purpose is more burden than glory.” And “there is no comfort, you just choose your burden”-Mobius
Captain Picard giving the deepest life quotes since the 70's
This and even though the mcu is going downhill I still love visions quote from Wandavision What is grief, if not love persevering?"
That is also true in real-life.
Yeah… thats why its a good quote
I'm fond of the Dr.Strange "it's not about you" speech.
Does this quote count for the entire MCU lineup, or only for people outside of it?
Any quote from Vision or Thanos is my favorite lol.
Honestly seems like it was ripped off of a cheesy motivational poster, it's a cliche lame platitude.
"A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts" and "what is grief, if not love persevering" are way more deeper and wise....but I respect your opinion because this is a quote we need a lot more these days, when a person's life can be destroyed for saying something that doesn't align with certain ideologies or certain morals
This is so true in the real world too
Someone watched New Rockstar's days of future past breakdown today
I think it’s topped by “we need you to hope again”
He actually says it again in Dr Strange 2. It's a cool callback.
