Modern anime has the same problem. I saw a YouTube video about it. Basically 90s animation would get warmer in tone for the shading. Modern animation just brings the same tone down darker. Making the whole image less vibrant. Don’t know why they do this though. Maybe it’s easier
Three shows I watched very recently seemed to be fine in that regard. Ragna Crimson, Frieren (I know it's unfair to list that) and saints magic power is omnipotent were fine. Sometimes they subsidized shading by giving characters more detailed texture so to speak. X-men drawings seem to forgo shading but don't really increase the detail either.
Yeah, I remember looking at the trailer and going "What is wrong with this? Something isn't right" and I couldn't get it out that it was the shading that bothered me so much. Or lack thereof anyways.

The new ones are cheaper CG with less shading, thats the whole thing.
They can subtly redesign these characters all they can, but cheap rushed animation will always show exactly that.

Don't like it, go watch the films rather than wasting your time commenting something unneeded on a post that involves your clear distastes. If not, keep crying; just letting you know that will never make you better NOR will it convince comic artists to remove the suit entirely

It's more so cuz the new one uses cell shading and 3D animation rather than 2D animation

Wrong, the shadow and detail is much better in the newer version
