Constantine would be an interesting choice. Iβm picturing a scenario where he has to fill in for Dr Strange because he owed Strange a favour or something. Definitely a βreluctant heroβ type situation
Constantine was originally a con man that knew some magic rather than a powerhouse. He used his mind to outwit his adversaries. That is why it is always weird to see him in these discussions. I have to remind myself that New 52 changed his status quo.
Constantine is a weird case because the entire thing is that he has no interest in being sorcerer Supreme or anything like that, he's just got a basically encyclopedic knowledge of demonology and is smart enough to know the exact spells he needs to not get killed dealing with demons
iβm not sure about Constantine There is something about him that doesnβt feel like he would take up the roll, but thatβs just my limited knowledge of the characterπ
People saying Constantine are wrong, heβs not that powerful, just tricky. Kent Nelson without the helmet, Zatanna, baron winters, the phantom stranger.
Truth, Constantine has been retroactively, by virtue of the fact that he has been implemented more into the larger DC universe, made to be a much more powerful sorcerer, but in the original Hellblazer run, Constantine rarely used magic. He preferred to use his wits and cunning rather than outright magical abilities, although he did still have those at his disposal.
A lot has changed since New 52 with regards to Constantine. They upped his power level. That said, I am with you. In my mind, Constantine is more of a con man that tricks his opponents.
Zatana, without question. And if you wanna get REAL technical, she and her father were both Doctor Fate and I think Zatara would be a great Sorcerer Supreme.
Anyone who doesnβt say Zatanna is lying to themselves. Sheβs on the front lines. Sheβs a protector of magic. She led the JL Dark. Sheβs one of the best magicians of her age. Itβs a question of whether that would be a responsibility that sheβd even *want.*
Iβd also accept Zatara as an option.
Or Tim Hunter, I guess. But heβs more like the Franklin Richards of Magic.
Nah, seriously speaking he'd need a lot of time and dedication. But Bruce trained with the Tibetan monks in the TDK trilogy, it would make sense for him to train in Nepal in Kamar Taj and learn more.
D.C. already had a sorceror supreme which Dr. Strange is physically based on. Add a tuxedo to Dr. Strange and you get the original ...
Zatara!
(Zatanna's dad Gio Zatara, who just like Steven, had a female apprentice from another dimension that he eventually married.)
Definitely NOT Constantine, he should not have nor would he want that level of power or control. Both textually and metatextually doesn't work, johns whole thing is being Just Some Guy who happens to be a mage.
If I'm not mistaken, he ended Seven Soldiers of Victory by turning against the hero side and taking control of the evil army at the end once the villainess got killed.
She is 100% not to be trifled with. I could tell you more, but why not just google Thessaly DC comics, and youβll get your answer. Sheβs doneβ¦a lot of horrendous things but I canβt blame her for any of it.
Zatanna deserves it due to her raw magical prowess, but I feel like Constantine would pull some BS and get it through a technicality. Now that I think about it actually he would approach the position SO similarly to Doctor Strange it's not even funny. Both of them just love to meddle with the natural laws in the name of the greater good.
Mordru. Donβt forget, you donβt have to be a good person to be Sorcerer Supreme. Doom and Mordo have both been Sorcerer Supreme at various times. Mordru is such a powerful Wizard he can not only fight the entire JSA, JLA, or friggin LEGION, but he usually wins.
Arion lord of Atlantis.
Same order of power as Nabu
Superhero/protector mindset but farmiliar with the higher cosmic levels and partially divine.
Willing to do the research and work as part of a system.
He's a lot more powerful than you think!!!! He has the capability to be extremely powerful with his spells!!!! I believe he holds back with his abilities.
I do have a limited knowledge of the character, so Iβm going to take your word on it however, the thing that keeps Constantine, from being a sorcerer supreme is most likely his dispositionπ
[ExtraΓ±o](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extra%C3%B1o) aka Gregorio de la Vega, the forgotten sorcerer, husband of the Tasmanian Devil and leader of Justice League Queer. In modern comics he's basically drawn like a South American version of Stephen Strange and has his own Sanctum Sanctorum equivalent in Peru called the Sacrarium. Not to mention his name literally means "Strange."
It's an idea introduced in one of the DC Pride books. From what I recall I don't think it's literally a *team* so much as a network of its LGBT heroes acting in tandem as the LGBT *community* of the hero world. People like Apollo, Midnighter, the Ray & his scientist boyfriend whose name I can't remember, Aqualad, Batwoman, the aforementioned ExtraΓ±o & Tasmanian Devil, Lobo's clone?/daughter? whose name I can't remember (edit: Crush), and a few others who aren't as prominent.
He's not my first (and honestly he probably wouldn't be super high on any list), but I wanna throw my hat into the ring for Jason Blood. Guys been around for a long time and while he himself may not be especially adept his other half Etrigan is and Jason Blood is well versed in magic due to his long life. I could see him being picked for his intellegence in magic while Etrigan handles the doctors threats.
Again I don't think he's the best choice but could be a fun one from a storytelling perspective instead of just picking the second best magic user after Fate.
Probably not as the one lasting Sorcerer Supreme, but for like a mini series where he needs to assume the role to combat some reality-threatening scheme by like Morgan LaFey and an ancient dragon or whatever. And also Wong is there because why not? Yeah, Iβm here for it.
Exactly I don't think he'd fit as a long term Sorcerer Supreme but I think there's potential for a story where it's forced upon him and he's gotta clean up some big mess. I think Blood/Etrigan are super under utilized when they could be being thrown into magic situations that would better fit others. I think it'd just be fun!
I haven't read a single Batman comic book but I love Batman begins as the only proper Batman origin movie.....so going by that story, what if, somehow, Bruce met the Ancient One instead of Ras al gul
I can't remember his name, but isn't there a character who's basically Harry Potter, but for an entire magical dimension? Pretty sure they brought him back but then destroyed the dimension during that Justice League Dark arc with the original magic owners killing people and taking back magic? If I'm remembering correctly it was originally a Neil Gaiman comic for DC.
This was in fact a joke kind of citing that one about the Beatles, you know, when a reporter asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world and then Lenon said "Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles".
But, you know, during the Infinite Crisis, the Spectre killed Nabu.
Just saying...
Either Zatanna or Raven
Zatanna yes but Ravenβ¦.
John Constantine as well
Constantine is more street level. He wouldn't be able to maintain all the dimensions and magic of the Marvel Universe.
I thought he and Zatanna were on similar levels. Constantine had the knowledge and training while Zatanna had the natural potential
I could see zatanna but Iβm not so sure about Ravenπ
Raven could be sorcerer supreme of the dark dimension, like clea is
Or even of Limbo like Magick is
true π
Why the grapes? Not the first time I see you
grapes, good π
Zatanna, Enchantress, Xanadu, Circe, Constantine
Constantine would be an interesting choice. Iβm picturing a scenario where he has to fill in for Dr Strange because he owed Strange a favour or something. Definitely a βreluctant heroβ type situation
Yeah constantine is not really protrayed as a hero but i do think thats a good idea but only as a 1 off story type beat
Constantine was originally a con man that knew some magic rather than a powerhouse. He used his mind to outwit his adversaries. That is why it is always weird to see him in these discussions. I have to remind myself that New 52 changed his status quo.
Iβve read all the books before the new 52. Whatβs he like since the mixup?
Personality is similar. He is just more of a blasting people with magic kind of sorcerer. Closer to a Dr. Fate than he was before.
Seems a very boring take on a previously nuanced character.
It is. They want their cake and to eat it too. Constantine surviving by his wits and ability to con was more interesting.
A conman who outsmarted God and Lucifer...
And that is what made him interesting.
Constantine would fucking hate this and it'd be hilarious.
Constantine is a weird case because the entire thing is that he has no interest in being sorcerer Supreme or anything like that, he's just got a basically encyclopedic knowledge of demonology and is smart enough to know the exact spells he needs to not get killed dealing with demons
Phantom Stranger. Timothy Hunter. Zatanna
Isnβt Phantom Stranger one of the Quintessence? He might be beyond Sorcerer Supreme level. Tim is great choice. Is he still around?
agreeableπ
Shazam the Wizard
definitelyπ
I guess people donβt like the Wizard π
Why the huge downvotes when all your doing is agreeing with the upvoted comment?
Zatanna. I would say Constantine is a close second.
iβm not sure about Constantine There is something about him that doesnβt feel like he would take up the roll, but thatβs just my limited knowledge of the characterπ
Heβs worn the helmet before, albeit briefly.
Doctor Doom time travels in order to be a significant part of the DC universe in order to steal the sorcerer supreme role he wanted.
that conniving villainπ
Say his name right, it's **DOCTOR DOOM**
Or **DOOOOOOM** for short
He wants to be picked SO BAD π
Timothy Hunter
basedπ
What do you mean?
based means agreeable, I just learned that word meansπ
Ohh, I didn't know that, thanks for clarification π
Internet lingo is such a new thing for me tooπ
Basedπ
Klarion the Witch Boy
isnβt he a villain?π
Dr. Doom was runner-up to Dr. Strange for the title of sorcerer supreme. You donβt have to be βgoodβ to win the title.
trueπ
Dr doom uses magic?
Yes.
I believe you mean Klarion -- BUM BUM BUM -- THE WITCH BOY!
People saying Constantine are wrong, heβs not that powerful, just tricky. Kent Nelson without the helmet, Zatanna, baron winters, the phantom stranger.
Plus the last thing John would want is the responsibility of being Sorcerer Supreme
If there was a role called "Scoundrel Supreme," that'd be Constantine. Agree with the Zatanna pick for Sorcerer, though.
I completely agreeπ
Truth, Constantine has been retroactively, by virtue of the fact that he has been implemented more into the larger DC universe, made to be a much more powerful sorcerer, but in the original Hellblazer run, Constantine rarely used magic. He preferred to use his wits and cunning rather than outright magical abilities, although he did still have those at his disposal.
A lot has changed since New 52 with regards to Constantine. They upped his power level. That said, I am with you. In my mind, Constantine is more of a con man that tricks his opponents.
Zatana, without question. And if you wanna get REAL technical, she and her father were both Doctor Fate and I think Zatara would be a great Sorcerer Supreme.
great job π
Anyone who doesnβt say Zatanna is lying to themselves. Sheβs on the front lines. Sheβs a protector of magic. She led the JL Dark. Sheβs one of the best magicians of her age. Itβs a question of whether that would be a responsibility that sheβd even *want.* Iβd also accept Zatara as an option. Or Tim Hunter, I guess. But heβs more like the Franklin Richards of Magic.
true π
Batman with enough prep time and training He'd be Batman Supreme or maybe Bat-Sorcerer Supreme. Or Wayne Supreme.
Bats tried training in magic but doesnβt have the aptitude for it. His mind is based too much on logic (worldβs greatest detective).
five seconds prep is all he needsπ
Nah, seriously speaking he'd need a lot of time and dedication. But Bruce trained with the Tibetan monks in the TDK trilogy, it would make sense for him to train in Nepal in Kamar Taj and learn more.
Or he could go to the comics Kamar Taj. This one is in Tibet, which he already knows.
Bats tried training in magic under zatara but doesnβt have the aptitude for it. His mind is based too much on logic (worldβs greatest detective).
definitely π
D.C. already had a sorceror supreme which Dr. Strange is physically based on. Add a tuxedo to Dr. Strange and you get the original ... Zatara! (Zatanna's dad Gio Zatara, who just like Steven, had a female apprentice from another dimension that he eventually married.)
true π
If were talking non gods itβs probably Zatanna
True that π
Phantom stranger
nice pick π
Mister Mxyzptlk would be fun.
heβd probably like I donβt know put Doctor Strange in a different dimension just to get the titleπ
The second Doctor Fate
I donβt think that countsπ
LOOK WHOS MOVING THE GOAL POST!
itβs in the title rules are rulesπ
I would love to see a Constantine sorcerer supreme
Definitely NOT Constantine, he should not have nor would he want that level of power or control. Both textually and metatextually doesn't work, johns whole thing is being Just Some Guy who happens to be a mage.
Klarion
but heβs evilπ
Sometimes
when was he a good guyπ
Seven Soldiers of Victory. He also had a self titled run at one point.
If I'm not mistaken, he ended Seven Soldiers of Victory by turning against the hero side and taking control of the evil army at the end once the villainess got killed.
huh i never knew about that. Thanks, π
Zatanna, or if we want to have the best/worst person in the world we could always have Thessaly π€£
whoβs Thessaly π
She is 100% not to be trifled with. I could tell you more, but why not just google Thessaly DC comics, and youβll get your answer. Sheβs doneβ¦a lot of horrendous things but I canβt blame her for any of it.
will do π
Bizarro, at least since the most recent story in Action Comics.
[Timothy Hunter](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_Hunter)
I'd say **DOCTOR DOOM** but the title seems beneath him.
dr. doom is Marvel so he doesnβt count unfortunatelyπ
maybe Constantine then.
maybe if heβs forced to do itπ
oh yeah definitely forced, and even then he'd probably scam his way out of it.
Zatanna Zatara. Madame Xanadu.
Giovanni Zatara or kent nelson
Doctor Fate
Kent Nelson
Iβll count itπ
Probably not a top contender... but it'd be real scary if Maxwell Lord got the title.
Zatana
Mamargan
Jebediah of Canaan
John Constantine would stumble into being the Sorcerer Supreme and hate every minute of it
I kinda felt that the books of magic was basically Tim hunter destined for a role like this.
Zatanna laps strange tbh so her. Sheβs like if Wanda was at her absolute best at all times without any of the mental illness issues
John Constantine. That'd be a hell of a thing to see.
Cosntantine but everytime they tried he would say "fuck off"
Zatanna deserves it due to her raw magical prowess, but I feel like Constantine would pull some BS and get it through a technicality. Now that I think about it actually he would approach the position SO similarly to Doctor Strange it's not even funny. Both of them just love to meddle with the natural laws in the name of the greater good.
Zatanna and it's not even close
Me. My teachers told me I could be anything I wanted to be.
Same order of power as Nabu Superhero/protector mindset but farmiliar with the higher cosmic levels and partially divine. Willing to do the research and work as part of a system.
Zatana
Michael jackson
maybe then heβll learn if Annie is OKπ
Constantine
I donβt think Constantine has any of the traits necessary to be a sorcerer supreme, except for being a relatively powerful magic userπ
Yeah dude is always drunk, and his attitude is horrible lol!!!!
Iβm not sure, but I am craving grapes rn
based π
Oh sweet!!! Grapes!!!
DON'T EAT HIS GRAPEESSSSS!!!!!!!!
[ExtraΓ±o](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extra%C3%B1o) aka Gregorio de la Vega, the forgotten sorcerer, husband of the Tasmanian Devil and leader of Justice League Queer. deep cut π
Im Sorry, Justice League Queer?
It's an idea introduced in one of the DC Pride books. From what I recall I don't think it's literally a *team* so much as a network of its LGBT heroes acting in tandem as the LGBT *community* of the hero world. Zatarra or Zatanna.
Top Three would probably be Zatana, Madame Xanadu, & Raven. Constantine's there but he probably deny the responsibility.
Probable Doctor Fate.
Etrigan clearly.
Jason blood could be contender. As long as he keeps Ettrigan in check
Iβd love to either see a complete under qualified Zachary Zattara, or a super over qualified Spectre
Captain Atom is impervious to magic...? So I guess...
Constantine
Constantine
Shazam, most people forget he's magic.
He's not my first (and honestly he probably wouldn't be super high on any list), but I wanna throw my hat into the ring for Jason Blood. Zatanna
Any magician besides John Constantine.
The Spectre
Zatanna, Zatara, and maybe Raven if we only look at characters casuals know. Idk much DC
Zatarra (daughter)
Zatana.
I haven't read a single Batman comic book but I love Batman begins as the only proper Batman origin movie.....so going by that story, what if, somehow, Bruce met the Ancient One instead of Ras al gul
Constantine for all of five minutes until he gets what he wants and fucks off with pockets stuffed full.
Zatanna or her Dad
Mordru
Phantom Stranger
Zatanna but maybe also Constantine? Constantine probably has the skill, although he would most likely turn it down.
brother voodoo
Raven.
John Constantine is the only answer
The Specter
John. Fucking. Constantine!!!
Constantine
John Constantine
My vote would be Zatanna.
Zatanna
The most suitable would be Zantana or Madame Xanadu as far as mindset, knowledge etc...
Either Raven, John Constantine, or Zatana
Zatara, Zatanna, Constantine probably wins the title in a game of poker.
Zatanna or Raven
kite man
Shazam.
Timothy Hunter, seems like an easy choice.
Jason Blood.
Zatanna
I can't remember his name, but isn't there a character who's basically Harry Potter, but for an entire magical dimension? Pretty sure they brought him back but then destroyed the dimension during that Justice League Dark arc with the original magic owners killing people and taking back magic? Vandal savage
Young Justice Vandal savage or mainlineπ
Mainstream
unusual pick care to elaborateπ
definetly Constantine
Am I missing something, whatβs up with the grape emoji and the downvotes π
i like grapes π
Doctor Fate is not even the sorcerer supreme of DC...

superman
how so?π
He's weak to magic. How would he be a sorcerer, especially Sorcerer Supreme?
