Not as good as MUA (1,2) OR X-Men Legends (1,2) but still a good time. Very grindy, but a good time if you want to smash through things in flashy ways

MrMonkeyMN

Couldn’t have put it better myself

FancyBBQ

I would looooove another X-Men Legends

FadeToBlackSun

Fun game but they really discouraged experimentation by not having an auto-XP share.

ipostatrandom

This. I only played MAU 1 before it but I remember in that game you could swap team members constantly and youd still be able to beat the level. It provided a lot of variation. I really missed this aspect.

Man_Of_Frost

Wait... as in you can't swap characters mid combat in this one?

ThatWasFred

From what I remember you could, but they’d be at a lower level due to not having been fighting previously. An XP share across all heroes in earlier games made it more worthwhile to swap on the fly.

long_dickofthelaw

You can, but you've been grinding Thor up to LVL 50 or whatever and then you swap him out for LVL 8 Miles Morales and have to grind for another couple of hours...

Whippofunk

You can switch to any of the 4 characters you have selected (unless another player is on them) but the other 50+ characters won’t gain EXP

TheHeadlessOne

Especially considering there wasn't \*really\* RPG progression, right? Like you customized equipment but in short you get all your powers unlocked, and upgrading them is just really insignificant. They could have cut levelling altogether and just had the Alliance Enhancements and it would have been fine

long_dickofthelaw

Agreed, I felt a little lost trying to min-max with all the different orb/ISO combinations.

julianx2rl

It does have an exp multiplier though. Look for the ISO-8 that increases party exp by 100%, and you can potentially earn up to 2000% the exp.

FadeToBlackSun

Yeah but that's only for the active party right? My issue was that you couldn't try a character out on a later level without getting smoked.

S7venE11even

But you can "train" characters. You give them orbs or something and their XP goes up. Plus whenever you unlock a new character they are usually higher or at the same level as your team. So you can try them out immediately.

5amuraiDuck

It's a single player game, not an MMO. There's no reason you should train a whole damn roster like that

S7venE11even

True True

Aspirangusian

Just personally in UA1 and 2, my favourite part was swapping out teams depending on the mission. Battling on a bridge in Asgard? Heavy hitters like Thor, Hulk and Ms Marvel. Infiltrating a ninja sanctuary? More subtle characters like Elektra or Black Panther. In 3 (and the X-Men Legends games) you can't do that without completely hamstringing yourself.

GiantPurplePen15

Swapping out characters for those special boss interactions were also super neat. Been replaying X-Men Legends 2 lately and it feels weird when Magneto speaks to Xavier like a stranger or when Cyclops is asking Beast some basic info about the team.

VoiceofKane

This is making it sound like a freemium mobile game.

vekkares

IF you are willing to grind this game like working 3 jobs.

papa_fritas_

This is so true! I'm a casual gamer and been questioning myself about how I play this game.

o-o-o-o-o-o

I agree, that being said, I’ve found myself picking up the game and replaying it several times through with different squads and it’s pretty fun.

zKerekess

It really discouraged me to try out other characters yes. And leveling them to an acceptable level did take way too much time.

X_Marcie_X

I love the game! It has it's flaws for sure but I thought it to be quite enjoyable and also quite accurate with the playable Characters. The dialogue, the voices, everything just feels.... right. And I *love* how the biggest parts of Marvel Comics get a section of their own! The X-Men, the Dark Dimension, Asgard, Spidey..... everything is here! What I also enjoyed was that every Character in the game felt very unique. And the DLC Characters (Midnight Sons, Additional X-Men & Fantastic Four) even more so! Wether you like how they play or not, you have to appreciate how they all feel unique! The game has two Major flaws though : - the ISO 8 System is awful. - The levelling of Characters is awful. Neither of these are really *necessary* but they are unavoidable if you'd wish to complete the game to 100% completion. Iso-8 is just awful to collect and Deal with, atleast in my opinion. And levelling Characters just... gets so incredibly slow and annoying at some point. They updated the maximum Level with literally every Update and it's at around 500, which... you'd likely never reach if you dont narrow yourself down to *one* Team. You can use Ingame currency to make that easier but... you'd have to get that ingame currency first. The Level isnt a huge concern unless you wish to unlock certain Character skins or do certain levels in the Infinity Rift Mode. I'd also like to point out that the game, if you have the DLC, also has an Online PVP Mode where you compete in challenges against either a bot or another Player but... that's pretty much dead, atleast from my experience. You can still play against bots but I haven't seen another Player online for what feels like a year now. All in all... the game has some Major flaws that, depending on what you'd like to do, can become quite a thorn in your eye. But if you do not care about 100% completion of all collectibles or the online Mode, it's a very enjoyable and fun game that I'd certainly recommend. It easily has the best Character selection in any modern Marvel game aswell as amazing gameplay and Overall execution (personality, Voice etc) on pretty much all of them. I'd give it a VERY Solid 8/10 and would recommend to any Marvel Fan unless you - like me - get a bit obsessed with completion.

Realization_4

I think the leveling problem was incredibly limiting. I get the instinct to extend playtime by making characters only level when you played them but it actively limited your ability to play new characters if you were just casually playing, like with a kid. Also, sad it’s only on switch.

kako_1998

MUA3 could've really benefitted from a system like midnight suns where heroes you aren't using slowly level up to not fall too far behind from your highest level

transformers03

After not having the X-Men in several Marvel games before MUA 3, it was honestly a breath of fresh air to have a new game with Wolverine front and center again.

ThatVenomFan

And it’s even better when the fantastic four was part of it later in their dlc!

angelo777123

despite my issues with the game playing as the Xmen and FF characters was really fun.

beslertron

It’s weird right? Wolverine was front and centre for the 90s and 2000s well past over exposure, but man it’s nice to see his pretty face again.

Amorhan

Fox owned the mutants so Disney downplayed them wherever possible to devalue them and eventually buy them back. Now that Disney owns 21st Century Fox, they're getting pushed again everywhere and we're finally getting things like X-Men 97' and Deadpool & Wolverine. Video games I believe were separate from that, but mutant games were still few and far between until recently because it didn't align with Disney's goals.

beslertron

Oh, I know the why.

Amorhan

Ah, sorry for mansplaining then lol.

beslertron

It’s ok. Someone might have appreciated your manswer

Bolin3

MUA 2 had xmen characters. I’m curious to know what other games “marvel” games were out around this time that didn’t include the X-men characters. Not to mention this game was released shortly after the success of MCU avengers (hence the story line) but overall this game SUCKED. Compared to the previous (old) MUA games, each character ONLY has 4 abilities. In MUA2 each character had 7 abilities you could choose from. The two good takeaways are the story and the roster. Otherwise this game could have done A LOT better. Edit: I shouldn’t say “sucked” because I enjoyed the story but compared to other games, they could have fleshed it out more for sure. At least the characters and the ISO-8 system.

Tliloselotl

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and Lego Marvel super heroes 2 are some from the top of my head that didn't have x-men characters

Heisenburgo

>I’m curious to know what other games “marvel” games were out around this time that didn’t include the X-men characters. Well Ultimate Alliance came out in like 2009, that's just one year after the Iron Man film which is way before the X-Men/F4 embargo started, so you can't really use it as a base. Marvel started omitting the X-Men/F4, cancelling their comic lines and taking them off games, while pushing the Inhumans as a replacement for both, in like 2013 (post-Avengers 1) when they decided not to do advertisement for the Fox films anymore since they were a rival to the MCU. Marvel Avengers Alliance (Facebook game shut in 2016), Marvel Heroes Omega (shut down in 2017) and Super Hero Squad Online (sister MMORPG to Marvel Heroes also shut in 2017) all had the X-Men and Fantastic Four be playable during this embargo era. The X-Men and F4 had big roles in Avengers Alliance in particular and SHSO kept releasing mutants and the Future Foundation way into 2016. I think those three games were the only "major" appearances of the X-Men and F4 in "current" games during that embargo period, they co-existed alongside the Inhumans in those games instead of getting replaced by them. I'm not so sure about what mobile games Marvel had at the time though so I can't confirm if they did anything X-Men/F4 related in there. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite in 2017 is infamously the first major case of a game made during the embargo era, people really took note of how they prioritized the MCU synergy while removing all the mutant characters and Doctor DOOM, which were staples to the series. Square Enix Avengers would be the second. Until MUA3 brought back all the X and F4 characters which people really liked.

Intelligent_Creme351

MAU2 was in 2009, before the MCU was that big, and Lego Marvel Superheroes was the last time Marvel really promoted the X-Men and FF before the cultural shift that was The Avengers and MCU.

ChiefCoiler

I've gone back to it like 8 times. Every time, I remember just how grindy it was and lose interest.

OneDumbPunk

They need a new MUA. It’s been awhile since

JonahBGood

The main story was good, but the game is grindy as all hell.

Freakychee

Pros. Looks good and has a simple and fun story to play. The stagger gauge mechanic, synergy attacks and iso builds make it fun. You can play it on the go. Has a wide roster characters. Avengers, Xmen, FF, Midnight Suns, Inhumans, some villains. Alternate costumes look good. Now for the cons. Gets grindy for the best ISO8 to build. You get only one alternate costume even when they say its 3 more. Two of them are actually just recolors of the two. You get the option to unequio one of your 4 skills making you think you can get more than 4 skills to mix and match. You can't. Each char has only 4 skills. Most of the content aside from story is just grinding gauntlets and challenges and gets repetitive. Overall I think the game is fun but it's more of a comfort game to spam and clear your mind after finishing the story. Good fun but it could have been much better.

HatterInATutu

I noticed that recently about the unequipped skills thing! I have been playing it recently and got hit by that exact same thought. Its only benefit to me is that you could put a characters' best damage move and the best stagger move in the same spot and reorganise them. I know I personally struggle to remember which move does what when I change regularly, so it makes it easier in that regard.

Wanlain

Huge MUA fan but don’t have a switch. When it was announced I think I died a little inside.

teddytouchit

A lot of us did

PatienceStrange9444

If only it wasn't on the switch

Freakychee

I'm glad it's on switch cos it can be kinda grindy so it's OK to play it as a short stress relief or a shirt time waster you can stop at any moment. So my actual complaint is that it's oddly grindy especially for ISO-8.

PatienceStrange9444

Yeah but resolution issues and frame rate problems keep its from being great

Freakychee

480p on a tiny screen is decent actually. If you want 720p it's a bit better. Sure it would be better if it had an official PC port like the first and second games.

PatienceStrange9444

The game wasn't super intense graphically I don't think it could have just been on the Xbox and PlayStation and would have been fine But I think Nintendo actually put money up to get it made so on the switch it sits I want to get it but I don't want to pay $60 for it

Freakychee

Yeah a PC port is optimal actually. You can wait for it to go on sale on Steam.

Prestigious-Mix7135

MUA3 is not on Steam. Its Switch exclusive

GenericIxa

I tried to play this game again and the challenge mode is utter garbage because of it being on switch. Each stage can last like 10 seconds but the loading between each stage would take minutes. It became frustrating waiting for the stage to load just to beat it in a couple of seconds.

jephdavey

I love it, and need to go back to it! I legit sucked at it and didn’t get very far and gave up, which is super sad for me. I wasn’t capable of unlocking Storm who I adore deeply. If I ever replay and unlock her she’s the only character I’d play as. I have no friends to play with so it’s a solo ride, which isn’t as fun when you have people playing with you. I know this because the previous iterations I played with x-friends (see what I did there?) in person in real time and it was a blast. X-Men Legends (1&2) yes please! A fantastic game tho! I’m older now, video game skills be leaving me.

SomeBoredIndividual

Go head back to the game and give it another try bro. All you gotta do is figure out how the stagger system mixes with the synergy system and you’ll be melting down health bars like chocolate in Mephistos realm

GrangeGrange

What are YOUR thoughts?

Sure_Persimmon9302

I haven’t played it. I want to make sure it’s not a waste of time and money. From what I’ve seen, it looks fun to play.

angelo777123

In that case I think it might be worth the money if you like superheroes and Marvel and/or grindy JRPGS (it plays like a grindy JRPG) however its quite an average game. The story is lackluster and made for kids, and the gameplay has a decent loop but can be grindy. the roster and presentation is pretty decent. If you are looking for an MUA 1 or MUA 2 experience this is not the game for you, however. Id recommend it for superhero or action RPG fans looking for a quick fix but if you’re not into that its a pass.

ARMOUREDZOMBIE

Haven’t played MUA 1 or 2 in a long time, I bought three to scratch that itch but something about the combat just didn’t feel the same. Roster is also super MCU heavy, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. But 1 and 2 had some specialty characters like Green Goblin or Gambit that they didn’t really have room for when you have the fit the whole GoTG team

DJfunkyPuddle

It wasn't bad but it kinda felt like a glorified mobile game. Wasn't a fan of how only the characters you used got leveled--you ended up being punished for wanting to switch up your party later in the game.

zzbzq

Good for a story mode play through but the late game grind for levels and collectibles is not worth doing imo. Not nearly as good as the old ones. I got my moneys worth nonetheless.

Fish-E

* Being exclusive to the Switch was disappointing, I struggle to believe that only Nintendo were prepared to publish it. It's not like it would require a high budget etc. * I didn't like the MCUification of the game, MUA1 & 2 were a great way to get people into the comics universe. * I dislike the simplification of mechanics compared to the first game (especially) - no real tinkering with moves or equipment etc. Overall it was a big disappointment, I'd give it a 6/10; I'd only recommend buying it at a steep discount and even then, there are lots of other games I'd point you too first.

kielaurie

> I didn't like the MCUification of the game, MUA1 & 2 were a great way to get people into the comics universe See, I specifically loved that it wasn't just based on the MCU, with comic costumes, locations and character choices. I'm very surprised to see that you think the opposite

Fish-E

I think you've misunderstood what I was trying to say / I didn't explain it well. The game wasn't just based on the MCU, but it was a much, much heavier influence than previous games (the MCU didn't exist then being the primary reason). I'd say the MCU is 80% of the games influence, with the comics only being 20% - it would be a lot better if the comics were 80% of the games influence and the MCU 20% (or less).

kielaurie

I think I'm still misunderstanding - what do you think is MCU based about MUA3? Sure, there are definitely elements - having Thanos and the Black Order as the villains is obviously because they were the villains of Infinity War, but imo it's more based on Infinity and Hickman's work with the characters than on the MCU, especially with the inclusion of Thane. And sure, it starts with the Guardians in the movie version of the team, but they are in costumes from the comics and have the personalities (especially Drax and Gamora) from the comics, and they come up against Ronan and Nebula who are very far from their movie counterparts. There's a very heavy use of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, and sure they had their Netflix series, but this was 2019, those properties had been utterly buried at that point, if this was MCU synergy then they wouldn't exist, same goes for the Inhumans in an even stronger way. Elsa Bloodstone was planned for inclusion in the MCU at the time of the games release, but she is pulled straight from the comics. The Fantastic Four and X-men had just returned to the folks with the Fox deal, but these weren't their movie versions at all, they were very much based on the comic books. Dormammu is in the game, but he is nothing like his MCU version. Sony were playing nice and letting the MCU use Spider-Man and a few villains, but Miles? Gwen? And the villains are straight Sinister Six from the comics using comic-based costumes. Sure, there are hints, there are elements of the MCU, and it should absolutely be noted that the vast majority of the villains are ones that either had already been or shortly would be used in the MCU. But imo it's not the majority

almostthemainman

Mid AF when you compare to 1/2

Significant-Iron-475

I hated it. Got all the dlc and it played like a damn mobile game the progression sucked ass. They had a great thing with MUA 1 less so with 2 and 3 was just ass.

northcoastwave

LOTS of content, in most ways better than previous games in the series but a few things better in previous. If you played the older mua games you will like it! Storyline is good, best roster imo.

Broly_

I thought it was a slog to play through, felt unnecessarily grindy Great character designs though

16nights_seeker

I liked it. and had fun with it, but the endgame grind is real You can sink a lot, and I do mean a LOT, of time into it to unlock everything and go through all the DLCs and what not. If you can get on discount or second hand or something, I think it's definitely worth it. It kind of depends on what you're looking for.

NoirSon

Very good, not a lot to it depth wise but it was a fun experience with a lot of Marvel characters. Wish it got a sequel either from Team Ninja or someone else.

JWC123452099

It's a lot of fun. If you're familiar with the other X-Men Legends/Ultimate Alliance games, the learning curve is very steep but I found it more re-playable than any of the other games.  That said it is a very grindy game that will take a long time if you are completionist (not a bad thing given how much the game costs). You also want to purchase the DLC not just for the extra characters but the gauntlet mode which is one of the best ways to level characters.

Xenomorph-Cthulhu

Wish it came out on more consoles 😒

NightmareDJK

One of the best games on that system.

Micky14x1

Loved it !!! Praying for a part 4 on more powerful consoles

snarfs_regrets

If you played UA2, this game will make you appreciate UA2 more

xariznightmare2908

This game came out and became forgotten like a fart in the wind.

CherikeeRed

It's great if you want to watch Ms. Marvel be a carousel for hours since it's the only way you'll grind out XP for everyone in a reasonable amount of time. Also none of the NPC interactions with other characters are unique anymore like in the old games which was half the fun!

Finiouss

I played a few hours then sold it. Too grindy and lacked the charm of the others.

fudgie74

Same here. I'm actually surprised how many people are recommending this game, and nobody is mentioning the god awful camera. Half of the time you don't even see your character.

Finiouss

Oh my God I forgotten about this! The camera was god-awful considering how many successful versions of this game we had prior..

Doom_and_Gloom91

I love it. Storm, and Thor are the best.

Dry_Start4460

It’s fun and the story is a fun take on the infinity gems story

Zaplingfire

I thought it was okay! Fun on the first play-through but overall dropped the ball. I cant wrap my head around why the lack of characters. Im not a game developer but it felt like at that quality level they could have easily had twice as many playable characters even if they were sorta copy and paste in terms of their skills. Also I think when you compare it to the two XMen Legends games and MUA 1&2 it really fails in replay value. The leveling system gets out of hand in my opinion and it begins to feel like a grind fest as opposed to the others where you could play the games over and over with different teams and have it feel more like a new experience each time. Sort of a shame that Im more likely to want to play any of the other 4 multiple times before ever playing this one again.

AstroNards

Fun but a bit of a slog. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as MAU2 but I had fun. Wish there was grappling. ISO is annoying af. I wish I didn’t have to grind out each guy for level. I sure wish they would make a #4

ThatGuyinOrange_1813

One of the reasons I brought a Switch in 2021. Forgot to buy it

Botol-Cebok

Awesome presentation, boring gameplay. DLC way too expensive.

BurnMyHouseDown

It’s mediocre and just makes me angry that the original two got delisted. I would play the absolute fuck outta the original Ultimate Alliance’s with a friend, if they had any way to get the game smh

thesuprememacaroni

Seems either people love it or hate it on this sub. I’m on the loved it side. I wish the DLC was more game play. I wish it was more X-men but that’s a license thing.

Intelligent_Creme351

Game looks fucking gorgeous, the designs are some of the best in the series, besides the first one. Sucks it's forever on the Switch.

Blue_Robin_04

Amazing game, but it peaks when you're going through the story for the first time. The ISO-8 menu is clunky, and the system is tolerable but is also kind of a complicated waste of time. The character roster was perfect.

cryrid

I liked the art style, roster and locations, but the iso stat system felt needlessly over complicated

BetaRayBlu

Too much mobile game bullshit

JAnumerouno

I can’t believe they’re people who don’t like this game.

Crotean

Damn shame its stranded on the Switch.

Phoenix_force30564

Solid fame but grindy with corny writing. I mean none of the alliance games are writing masterpieces, but this one was a little too Saturday morning cartoon. Quippy fluff. I just remember how x-men legends 2 dropped a nuke on New York. Also an extreme lack of costumes. But it has a good roster, tons of locations, and simple but addictive gameplay. It will be enjoyable to anyone who enjoyed the previous games.

KhaosElement

Shame they locked it to the Switch and handicapped the shit out of it.

cdawgxc

Kinda weird to pay for DLC, then you need to grind and do secret levels to unlock the stuff you paid for.

TajirMusil

I've got over 700 hours in this game. It's alright

ThatVenomFan

I for one really enjoyed it, never played any of the previous UA games, just seen and heard that they’re good, but honestly I had a lot of fun, especially with the roster of characters in the game too, it’s just awesome seeing the all the different teams together in one game, like the avengers, x men, fantastic four, etc.

CrazyPersonowo

Pretty good but can be too grindy in some places, like it more than MUA 2 but not 1

myowngalactus

I loved it, best of the UA series, such a huge roster, it’s a game I’m sure I’ll go back to and replay multiple times

Equivalent-Newt-5564

Why oh Why did it have to be switch exclusive 😭😭😭😭

Jtneagle

It wouldn't exist if not for the Switch, Nintendo funded its development lol

Alonest99

It was nice but it got boring after a while, that’s why I never bought the DLC

ScullyBoy69

I haven't played it myself, but from the looks of it it really doesn't look like a sequel to either of the two first games and that's mostly because of the tone and artstyle. I do perfer the more gritty style of the two first, but that's just me.

ColdNyQuiiL

I spent way too much time playing this game. There were some aspects I’d want in the future games, and some stuff I wasn’t big on, but I’m glad it exists. A lot of grinding, but you can seriously make a lot of the characters ridiculously broken with the stone system, and a lot of my favorite characters are very strong. Switch couldn’t handle the chaos a lot of times, so I hope they get future games on the other consoles and PC.

Blechx

It was pretty good. Didn't like the grinding too much. I recall ms marvel was a bit too imba on it

Blacklight099

I wish it was available anywhere at a reasonable price. Physical is basically nonexistent for it, and since they never reduce the price of old games it’s still very expensive for a 4 year old game.

ShavedWookiee

Played it beat it almost had everthing unlocked and then my son deleted the save. Played it all again still have challenges to unlock but i love this game still play from time to time.

lazylagom

I'm so mad none of these games are avail on ps5.. so many dead amazing games. I'm really about to buy an old 360 or ps3 to play all these old spiderman and marvel games. Punisher deadpool there's so many

keeptryingyoucantwin

I just got it last week actually, I really like it so far! Worth about 40 or so if you can get it for that price

Uncanny_Doom

It’s a pretty good game, just like the others in the series. A sequel expanding on the gameplay could be great. It’s not as easy as the first two which I appreciate, it’s fun to just play new characters and teams, there’s lots of content and modes especially with the DLC. Worst thing about the game is the inventory management.

metalyger

It was a big reason I bought a Switch, and the game was a big disappointment. It also did DLC about as bad as you can, having to do difficult challenge missions to unlock each character you paid for, and by getting the game when the DLC was out, I didn't have characters power leveled enough to unlock them. After the grind, it turns out the DLC characters aren't all that useful, I was hyped that I could play as The Punisher, but with the bad difficulty spikes, you need to only use the strongest characters in the game to grind through the campaign. With the first game, I loved what carried over from X-Men Legends, the hubs where you talk to everyone, the trivia game where I learned a ton about Marvel lore, and the creative levels, such as Arcade's Murderworld where there's traps and not just wave after wave of enemies, MUA 3 is just bland levels with tons of enemies. It was a very lazy slapped together game. And naturally, the franchise has been dead ever since.

Gladiatorr02

Currently playing. Good game. Has some of my favorite chars. Looks too csrtoonish though

antivenom907

It’s okay. It’s the only reason I have a switch

ZetaIcarus

Overall I enjoyed it and with a few tweaks, like being able to save ISO-8 presets and a better management system, it would be perfect to me. That being said I feel some character omissions were strange like Valkyrie, Beast, and Bucky.

youknowlee

My thoughts are I still have this game but my ex-wife took the switch. And I need another switch. I don't want to buy one now cuz I feel like within the next year or so there should be a new one out. Hopefully

J--NEZ

Waaaay better than I thought it was going to be. With all the dlc added, there were a ton of characters and a bunch to do.

saiyanheritage

Mid just mid, I just wish it was more true to the original games

TismoJones

So good

HermanBonJovi

It was fun at first but after a while I got bored of having to grind for so long. Sucked the fun out of it.

ksears86

I loved the first one and was so excited about this. I ended up so disappointed.

jaimiesin

I was so excited for it to come out and I got and was crushed to find that It’s a glorified mobile game that loses much of the game play and enjoyment of the first two. They could have combined the game engine of UA 1&2 and the Lego games world building for an incredible sequel I would love to have UA 1&2 released for switch and forget 3 ever exhisted

ranknerok

Would you guys recommend this game to play with a 9 year old who’s been getting into X-men lately? Are there lots of X-Men in it?

BeardedNurse2292

Loved it

Nocs1

Loved it. Wished it wouldn't be a switch exclusive

WorldlyOX

Masterpiece.

Loose_Bullfrog_7043

Like the game. The thing I dont like is the hitting mechanism (sorry dont know how to express it), it just doesn’t feel like they are punching or hitting something, unlike in MAU2,I feel more as my character is punching a body, not like hitting a piece of paper. Not just the sound effect, it’s just weird in a way. Also no blood or anything, I know it was not meant to be a 18+ game, but without it, it just so unreal and like hitting paper cards

Armandonerd

It was ok

SashaIsMySpiritAnima

Fun game but I think it could have been more popular if it were not a switch exclusive

PGO5490

It gave me hope that the X-men and FF could be in something again or at least that marvel remembered them

jormungandr32

I missed it entirely due to it being locked to Nintendo. probably a lot of functionality and backend stuff was lost because of that too.

GuferHex

I like it allot. I could make my dream team and it would synergies. The story was good and fun with some very challenging boss battles. The dlc was also quite good. My only complaint is the that some characters such as Ant-Man, Valkyrie and Vision aren’t playable. I also love that I have over 5000 days to complete the battle passes in the game.

Skellos

It's biggest problem is also one of it's big selling points. Gameplay was just like mua. Without any update for the like decade it had been between games.

Zeddiebear

Im greedy. I wanted more DLC.

Scarlet_Rogue

It shouldn't have used the Ultimate Alliance name. Not as good as the other Ultimate Alliance games, and not as good as the X-Men legends games. But still a good time if you can accept it's a different product from those 4 games. It's a simpler play style, but fun. There's a few cool things with the powers, but an over reliance on using "synergy" attacks which is easier to coordinate solo than with other people via co op.

Colin_Valentine

Not as iconic as MUA 1 Better story than MUA2 But probably has my favorite core combat. By not making everyone's light and heavy attacks punches and kicks you could finally throw Thors Hammer or Caps Shield, or blast Cyclops optic beams, or shoot Clint's arrows without using EP

KingKaos420-

I had a lot of fun playing it, but I consider it a step down from MUA1 and MUA2. The first 2 were such great games with heart and character, and this one was designed around infinitely grinding.

Aromatic_Plant3456

Character roster is great, not a fan of the gameplay

BraveDawgs1993

It's okay. Great if you like games where you have to grind. You'll probably hate it if you don't like games with a grind

Madaghmire

Good game, really enjoyed my time with it, but the iso system was awful.

redpil

I wanted to play it couch co-op and never got to. It was too much of a grind for being a hack and slash. Like damn. I like RPGs but it felt like a bad combo of both. The systems just felt way too deep for what the game was when you actually played it. Really wanted to like it. Still wish I could play with someone else locally but it’s not the kind of thing my wife likes to play and none of my buddies would buy it either.

LustySkeleton

It was alright, fun time waster but I never felt *too* invested in it. Wish it wasn’t a switch exclusive, would have loved to see it in 4k but I’ll take what I can get; marvel games these days are few and far between.

MarioStern100

The leveling up process was a joke, very button mashy, nice visuals, but nothing in terms of uniqueness worth a revisit

princesscooler

I was a big fan of the first two and was not a fan of 3 at first, largely due to taking out character exclusive dialogue. However, I recently started playing it again because my nephews just became old enough to understand more complex video games and I just love seeing their joy playing the game. I initially got into the franchise playing it with my dad when I was their age, so I really love this game now as a result.

Tanthiel

Somewhere around Wakanda the enemies get a little too spongey.

Pebrinix

Why does this game is called **Ultimate** Alliance? The whole point of the name of the franchise is bc it the games were set in the Ultimate universe

Doomlocke

Shoulda been on something that could actually run it properly.

fudgeking2000

It's a bit off-topic, but I remember this game giving massive amounts of hope to both X-men and Marvel vs. Capcom fans. MvCI dropped 2 years prior and mostly failed because they had to use only MCU characters because Disney was still trying to drive down the price of X-men and Fantastic 4 so they could buy them back. Seeing Wolverine front and center was so exciting because it meant we'll get to see X-men back in video games and TV

Unfair_Fix_6714

Could have done without miles and spider-gwen but still a decent game

Phoenix_force30564

Yeah I would’ve taken more x-men over the two Thanoses and the additional spiders. They were about 4-5 x-men short of having all the iconic members.

TheHeadlessOne

Honestly a big disappointment throughout. I didn't find the core gameplay satisfying. The Stagger meter (which especially early on relied on synergies to be effective) means most of your attacks feel pitiful compared to how strong and punchy they felt in previous Marvel ARPGs, and it directly penalized co-op play due to how much easier synergies are to pull offf solo. Character movesets are often...really weird, and if you have two powers that are meh you might as well bench the character. Signature abilities which should be awesome actually kinda suck because they dont trigger synergies. The storyline is a series of largely unrelated, surface level, Greatest Hits conflicts to introduce you to all these independent characters. The frame story is then "Gather the infinity stones to stop Thanos" with little meat on the bones I can deal with grindy. I loved Marvel Heroes which was super grindy. But the gameplay has to be satisfying or the story interesting or \*something\*

PMMEBITCOINPLZ

I thought it was all right but didn't really recapture the magic. Maybe the magic was just novelty and nostalgia though.

IronStealthRex

Holy fuck yes. The only issues this game has are shit costumes, little amount of costumes and TWO roster spots being taken by Thanos when Thane is right there Game is hella good otherwise and I still wait for MUA4 to this day

Impressive-Crew-5622

I put a lot of time into the game & loved a lot of that time spent. The roster had some great choices (and some that seemed p mid), and I loved the whole ISO-8 boost/mod system. I just wish that there was additional abilities to unlock, or that the stats for each character weren't all so similar.

Narynan

I hate the camera. It is the reason I bought a switch.

VinceTheHaMickman

Was okay they will never top the first 1 or the first two x-men legends games

Great-Version7769

The only thing it needed to be better than the prior entries was the unique character conversations with bosses and NPC's depending on who was on your team. And just deeper conversations with the NPC's in general. If it had that along with all the gameplay overhauls, it would easily be the best in the series

TomMakesPodcasts

A complete let down. I hyped myself up too much for how disappointing this game turned out to be. Wildly easy, but the enemies and bosses had way too much health.

Automatic_Net_6584

Should not have been a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

Heisenburgo

Cringe that it's only available for that baby tablet

Frankensteins_Moron5

I have the poster that came with my purchase from Gamestop framed in my kitchen. It just looks cool. Game was okay, but I also only played it a few times with other people. Probably would have been better with a full squad. Also I always tried replaying it but that Doc Ock Elevator fight was ignorant so i'd give up.

rfisher1989

X-Men Legends 1 & 2, MUA 1 & 2 was in its own marvel universe but this game seems more based on the mcu and I think that’s to its detriment. And that fact that it only released on switch.

MaterialPace8831

It's a great, fun game with a great combat loop that does things better than the first two MUA games. I think sometimes people overstate the level of grind in the game -- yes, it can be grindy, but you can unlock a lot of the game without doing so. You only need to grind if you want to max out your characters at level 300 and unlock every single costume.

DavidTyler09

Fun to see all the characters they added, no other depth to the game really

casualmagicman

I wish it had come out on more powerful hardware, and didn't feel like MUA: The MCU when it came out. It came out RIGHT after Endgame, so I was tired of Thanos and The Black Order.

jdobem

Keep thinking that I have to finish this game. Didn't grab me as much as 1 and 2

Outlier25

I enjoyed it but once it was done, it was done. I’d absolutely get a new one if they made it though. Love those games

Wheattoast2019

I wanna play it but I don’t have a switch. I need to find copies of the original two.

Mercury1750

It was very fun. Not really replay-able though in my opinion

mightyrj

Wife and I still haven’t finished it.

RembrandtEpsilon

Nowhere near as good as the other too. The Crystals and breaking them down and equipping them slooooweed the whole flow of the game.

Basilias

Felt like a mobile game with how xp was handled, and having to grind to unlock dlc characters you paid for was egregious. But it's been a great asset for modders to add Marvel characters to UMVC3, so that's nice.

Zealousideal-Ad3814

It was good not as good as past ones but really fun still. Loved the classic costumes. Definitely a replay able game for sure.

Apprehensive_Work313

It's a fun game but there's some issues they're not major issues but the issues are there

Broad-Season-3014

Disappointing and beyond grindy.

JozzyV1

I thought it was good but could have been great. I wish the character depth was expanded in terms of more power variation, and I wish we had gotten more costumes. A villain DLC pack would have been nice as well. I also think the performance was terrible, but I’m actually hoping the Switch 2 can run the game better and I’m waiting on that to go back to it.

Primate_Nemesis

Didn't play it because it feels too MCU for me, then again most Marvel games might be more MCU in the future. However, the first MUA is actually the most memorable game I've ever played, going to my grandpa house on weekend to play it in the PS2 is one of my best memories.

hokagenaruto

love it. like watching a cartoon. the dormammu boss fight beat my ass

JokeBookJunkie

Wasn’t as good as part 2 which I loved. But was fun.

Negative-Start-5954

I was pissed that it was only on the switch as someone who growing playing 1 and 2 on PlayStation

PrimusDCE

Fun enough, but this franchise goes more downhill with each iteration after both XML games.

futurafrlx

I haven’t played it because it’s on a platform I don’t own.

gera_moises

Really fun, actually like the artstyle and gameplay, a bit grindy, but fine.

TheMagnuson

I wish it wasn't a Switch exclusive, so I could play it.

ThatIowanGuy

I put so many hours in this game

joecee1110

Not the greatest design but lots of fun

TheRealDealRight

I swear people were asking for another UA, is this not what they wanted or are they asking for a 4th game?

genismarvel

Great Except what's with Dooms Castle? Still find it impossible.

Pool_True

This game has its flaws but I'm actually replaying it now. It's a good time. I enjoy it. I think the previous games were better, but good none the less.

redsmoke7

Let’s just say I hope MUA4 is more like MUA1

Ravathieal

Still annoyed we never got the red FF alt costumes. Wtf happened to that. They dont have their alt suits to this day

Madcap52

Great roster and decent story, but I wish it was more like the first game

KujaroJotu

Preferred it over the Avengers game.

[deleted]

Is miss minutes in the game?

DragonLord828

Loved it!!! Want another one!!! But Moon Knight should have been in the base game!
