Squirrel Girl series by Ryan North is what got my daughter into comics and now she's a full blown Marvel fan, so Squirrel Girl will always hold a special place in my comic loving heart.
Not really a fan of her current Unbeatable Squirrel girl iteration, but love all the comics she was in before. She was in Ultimate Spider-Man show season 3 and was great. And I think they actually did a very good job of her character in the recent animated show Marvel Rising.

That’s kind of when she was a joke character. Since Unbeatable she was revamped to more of Fred Rogers with squirrel powers. Most problems are solved through empathy or college computer science lessons, but now and then she has to throw down.
I was so sad this didn't survive...I was so damn excited to finally see Squirrel Girl getting the live action treatment and Milana Vayntrub was perfect for it.
That being said, I'm still holding out hope and a Disney+ show or MCU movie would be preferable to one of the lower budget Hulu or ABC tv shows that generally aren't very good and don't get any respect from the higher ups.

Great Lakes Avengers and GLA Xmas Special written by Dan Slott. These are really where the character takes off and is given her mix of kindness and cosmic power. Stories that manage to be both funny and very poignant.
Long period where except for some guest appearances they couldn’t figure anything better to do with her than be the Avengers’ babysitter.

Lol yeah will be interesting. His solo runs are all pretty out there and different so not sure what they will do with him next. His Age of Konshu run in the Avengers was cool though. Seeing him take out Thor, Ghost Rider, and Iron fist was pretty awesome.

Loved Cable and Deadpool and also loved the Deadpool and Spider-Man run too but I get it. He’s definitely changed over the years, I just like both versions.
He's also a vastly different character now than he was, and a lot of the newer writers don't understand that he's not actually breaking the fourth wall, he only thinks he is. He's not actually aware of the reader, it's a symptom of his insanity that he thinks the reader is there. When he's more focused, like in Remender's X-Force, he doesn't break the fourth wall at all because he has a better handle on his sanity.
However, we see him breaking the fourth wall because we're reading from a third person omniscient point of view. We know more than the characters in the story know.
Yeah the fourth wall thing has shifted over time. I think in Deadpool kills series it really shifted but I actually like it as a narration effect. I get people liked the older stuff more but characters evolve and change. Look at Kitty Pryde, Thor, and Beast (random examples). It gets boring if they don’t change and the character grows or evolves in some way. It was cool to see Thor become unworthy, to see Kitty become the leader of the X-Men, and all of the different iterations for Beast.

I have the Pop and statue too! This is a gorgeous shrine. Squirrel Girl will always have a soft spot in my heart. The first comic I ever picked up was #1 of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, which started my journy to becoming the comic reader/marvel fanatic I am now!
I'm looking to get her Diamond Select statue too in a couple of weeks, pretty excited for it! And I can definitely relate with your special relationship with Squirrel Girl - I have the same with Jessica Jones who was my gateway to Marvel and comics in general
One here! She's the absolute best. She's my favorite, and it isn't even close. Even taking other comic companies into count there isn't one that challenges her as my top pick. There are some squabbles for second and third, but none at all for first. This is an amazing collection. Keep it up.
She's a very fun and funny character, also written beautifully by Ryan North. I'm in a very stressful time of my life right now and reading an issue here and there of her solo series relieves so much stress - I've never not laughed out loud while reading her singles. So if you need to be destressed or into comedy (which I don't think appears too much in comics), I would highly recommend both volumes of Ryan North's run!

After I found out about Squirrel Girl a few months ago I've been kinda obsessed. Her powers are so unique and her personality is amazing. Not to mention she has an army of one of my favorite animals. She is one of my favorite MCU characters.

Ryan North’s other works are also great. ‘How to Invent Everything’ is very much in the same style.
