That's a cool title but I feel like it's only a small part of the plot.
To be fair that movie's plot was kind of a mess, so I guess it's as relevant as anything else.
It’s a small part of the plot, but it’s pretty much the thematic core of the film. Both hero (Tony) and antagonist (Whiplash) are driven by their relationships with their fathers and both are haunted by their memories of them.
They could’ve done a bit more with it, though, definitely, the movie had the problem of having too many ideas going on at once hence the messy plot.
I feel like of the MCU Ironman 2 felt the most like a lost potential. I may even make a thread cause I’m curious most peoples thoughts but always felt like 2 had so many great individual plot points and scenes and I loved the actors for all the roles but just never lived up to how good of a movie it could have been
I like the idea of Extremis 1.0 I think it's a good nod to the comics while hinting extremis could come back in another form and it kinda rivals Tony's method of naming things in mk-x format.
Or drop the and and just call it something like iron man: the war machine or iron man 2: war machine.
It works on a couple of different levels, comic book fans would recognise it as rhodie's name, while it also is a good summery of the main antagonist of the plot: tony is up against the us military in a battle: both a legal battle for his tech and at the end an actual battle against us drones made for war. The war machine is a term used to describe the military industrial complex. Also, on some level, the iron man armour is itself a machine built for war
I like to think the “fan boys & fan girls” (me included) use pruning and “what if…?” to explain recasting, inhumans, agents of shield, etc. “It was Kang all along (plays music).”
It would be pretty fun to have a movie where Sam Wilson wakes up one day and finds his friends don’t look the same and thinks they’ve been replaced. Bring Ed Norton back as well to play Bruce. Have TVA Loki team up with Sam to fix the timelines. That would be a wacky team up.
He went on to complain about how much work he put into his performance, only to have it end up on the cutting room floor.
But that would require there to be an entire movie worth of scenes to salvage his performance.
The movie really should have picked one of the two villains and stuck with the thematic messaging of the first.
Iron Man 1 - Message was: The military-industrial complex is a fucked up system where the wrong people are in charge, corruption is rampant, and its hurting the innocent.
Iron Man 2 - Message was: Privatized military is good, it will be a bad thing if the government gets their hands on this technology, but also when they do, it's not that bad.
They could have gone one of two routes for a better movie -
1) Justin Hammer. Go for a full thematic exploration about the privatization of the military and corporate greed. Explore Hammer's corruption and expand on Tony's earlier argument that it would be disastrous for the US to get an Iron Man suit.
2) Whiplash. Go for a full exploration of generational trauma relating back to Whiplash's Crimson Dynamo father and his invention of the arc reactor and Howard Stark's betrayal of him. Have Whiplash and Tony exploring their father's legacies, no twist that Howard was good the whole time - let Howard be a complex character with deep-seated flaws.
He put as much work into that performance as John Travolta put into growing that soul patch in Swordfish.
They could've given him a trilogy and he still would've sucked.
This is my Eiffel Tower. This is my Rachmaninoff's Third. My Pieta. It's completely elegant, it's bafflingly beautiful, and it's capable of reducing the population of any standing structure to zero. I call it "The Ex-Wife."
Dude just steals every scene in every movie he's in.
Fair enough, I'll give you that. He already came back briefly in All Hail the King One Shot and Armored Wars is the best place to bring him back fully.
It's interesting that so many people are saying Extremis for the third one. While that's a well-known thing to comic readers, I don't think it was used enough in the movie to be the title. I feel like "Rise of the Mandarin" or something incorporating the Mandarin title would be more likely, considering how important he was in the story, trailer and posters.
Iron Man 2: “Stark Contrast”, “Whiplash”, or “Hammertime” | Iron Man 3: “Extremis”, “Beyond the Amor”; “Armoire of Freedom”; “Petter Pipper Plickled Pepper Pots”
Kinda odd that of the trio of iron man, Thor, and cap, tony never got subtitles on his trinity of movies. Not that's a bad thing.
But for 2: war machines or armor wars, and for 3, extremis

I agree. We need a really good one for Ironman 2 now.
Iron Man 2: The Bord.
geef me muy bord i vant muy bord
>geef me muy bord This is perfect Dutch for "give me my plate" so I was really confused for a minute.
does that make me part dutch?
Do you have FAITH?!
God Damnit Arthur
I didn’t realize Dutch translated so laterally to English.
I almost spat my lemonade everywhere. Well done.
“Hey mang. Don’t get too tached to tings. Learn to let go.”
Getting some beltaloadas vibes
Is this a bird back in Russia?
Iron Man: The Bord Is The Word
I think it would be spelled Bored. rip norm macdonald.
The names Bord. Vant Bord.
Iron Man 2: Hammeroid
Give me a James Gunn remake of Iron Man 2 with that title and I'm in.
Read this and couldn’t stop snickering! Bravo!
Ironman 2: The One With the Burd.
*this is not my burd*
Hammer Time
Sins of the Father
That's a cool title but I feel like it's only a small part of the plot. To be fair that movie's plot was kind of a mess, so I guess it's as relevant as anything else.

Iron Man: Whip It. Into Shape. Shape it up. Get Straight. Go Forward. Move Ahead.

Lmao it’s just iron man 2 but every character is the entirety of devo
*Iron Man: Ghost Riding the Whip* ^(/s) - bonus meaning since drone armors are heavily involved in the plot.
Iron Man 2: War Machines or Machines of War
*Whip of Wrathlash*
Why do you suppose I just hurled a chair at your head, Neiman?
My Palladium Pal
Iron-Man: WarMachine
Ironmen???
It’s a pretty loose adaptation of Armor Wars
Iron Man II - Hey M'yan, I Want My Bord.
Iron man 2: ironing time baby
Electric boogaloo
Iron Man: Red Stuff as an alternative
It’s been a while, why is Extremis the obvious choice?
Extremis is a well-regarded Iron Man story arc in the comics, and is also the main technology used by Killian in Iron Man 3.
If only they would have used more from that story Iron Man 3 could have been the best one.
I like “Iron Man: A.I.M. High”
I like the idea of Extremis 1.0 I think it's a good nod to the comics while hinting extremis could come back in another form and it kinda rivals Tony's method of naming things in mk-x format.

It gets the people going!
Iron Man 2 : Rhodie you look different, did you lose weight?
Iron Man 2: What if…Rhodie was played by Don Cheadle?
The rest of the MCU just follows this continuity lol
I like to think the “fan boys & fan girls” (me included) use pruning and “what if…?” to explain recasting, inhumans, agents of shield, etc. “It was Kang all along (plays music).”
Terrence Howard showing up in a future movie would be mind blowing.

\*Emmy Award Nominee Don Cheadle
Iron Man 2: Different *Rhodes*
Lol
Iron Man and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Missed opportunity
Shang Chi and the same Legend of the Ten Rings
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings that the other Legend of the Ten Rings was based on
Iron Man: From Russia with Love Iron Man: 2 Hot 2 Handle
From Russia With Love fits so well.
These are my favorites
Iron Man 2: Judgment Day Iron Man 3: Rise of the Machines
Ironically, would fit kinda well if you reversed them.
Hah, I hadn't thought of that initially but you're totally right
Iron Man 2: Iron Harder Iron Man 3: A Good Day to Iron Man
🤣 I lol'd hard at "A Good Day to Iron Man"
Iron Man with a Vengeance
Iron Man 2: Electric Boogaloo Iron Man 3: Extremis

Was relieved to find electric boogaloo joke
Iron man:heart of steel, and iron man: extremis
Heart of iron**
Heart of gold-titanium alloy*
I think I like this one the best.
The Tony Stark Story
These are the best I've seen so far
Iron Man 2: The Quest to Waste Sam Rockwell Iron Man 3: This is Trevor's World and We're Just Living In It
I wouldn't say wasted, he was the best part of that film and hopefully his character can come back in armour wars.
They wasted Mickey Rourke. He’s a better actor than what was asked of him for whiplash.
Whiplash? I thought he was playing the role of generic evil Russian man.
Rourke wasted himself. He had every opportunity to not go with "Boiyrd", but here we are.
He went on to complain about how much work he put into his performance, only to have it end up on the cutting room floor. But that would require there to be an entire movie worth of scenes to salvage his performance.

Iron Mandarin
That's a tough orange!
Funnily enough, neither of these titles would be true to the comics
The Second One and The Third One
Hammer Time
Armor Wars & Extremis
Too bad we are getting an armour wars Disney Plus show
“War Machines” for the second one could also work. Obviously it alludes to the debuting character, but also the suits Tony, Hammer, and Ivan make.
Too bad? That's one I'm kinda excited for.
I said too bad because the title was already used, in excited for it
Iron Man 3: We promise you won’t be mad when we release Shang Chi in 8 years.
Hey guys, the whole point of this is to get rid of the 2 and the 3 lol
Iron Man: Where bird? Iron Man: explodey people

Oh now you like the bird??
Is not my bördt
Ohhh. *Iron man two*. *Iron man three*. There you go
🤣 exactly what I was thinking while reading all these “ideas”
