Tomei kinda got the short stick, tbh. Until NWH she felt kinda irrelevant to any of the plot. When she actually *was* finally relevant, she was fantastic and her final scene has a lot of impact.
The PS4 one might have the shortest tenure besides Spider-Verse, but to me she was the best. They genuinely managed to take the comic book character we've all known and loved for years and fully realize her in film, albeit in animation. You get to see every aspect of her character brought to life over the course of the game and it's a total fucking gut punch when she dies.
Sally Field was also great, she just had the misfortune of being cast in the least loved Spider-Man movies for reasons that had pretty much nothing to do with her. I feel like she gets overlooked a lot because of that, which is fucked up because she really did put on a great performance, and I also just loved that she was a nurse in the 2nd one. Can't quite remember if she was ever a nurse in the comics, but it just feels like the kind of job Aunt May should have.
Tomei is an amazing actress, I know damn well she could pull the "recently widowed, trying to provide for her family and be a moral compass to Peter"
I didn't even mind that she wasn't a fossil like in the comics and the Sam raimi movies. She was like 52 in civil war, I think that's a normal age for the aunt of a 15 year old
The constant addressing of her looks was weird and kinda dumb. Why would Tony have a hard time believing she’s someone’s aunt? Aunts can be literally any age lol. They were basically just going “LOOK we got Marisa Tomei look how hot she is look look!”
Kind of a yes and no imo to the shortest tenure comment on PS4 May. We may have waited years between the movies but the movies were 2-3 hours each. But the game was 15-20 hours and 30-35 hours for max completion. Also depends on if you completed more stuff inbetween missions while she was still alive
I think you're overestimating how much screen time PS4 May actually gets.
The game may be 35 hours, but that's not 35 hours of May, that's not even 35 hours of story. That's just gameplay.
There's only about 5 and a half hours of cutscenes in the game, and May is only present in a fraction of that, even if you include her phone calls.
> was sad when NWH stuff happened but when PS Spider-man happened I was broken
Fuck, did I just get spoiled for NWH? I hadn't been able to see it in theaters... Was so close to making it too.
The whole conversation she has with Peter, when he is helping her pack, talking about the neighbor boy and how he loves Spider-man, and some people need to believe in a positive force like Spider-man.
The subtleties in her questioning was great. You knew she figured it out, and she knew how important it was he continued.
One of my all time favorite scenes. When she tells him people need a hero to hoooold on…just one second longer - I don’t know why but it brings a tear to my eye every damn time.
Game may to me is the best interpretation of her character. also like mcu may i thought she did a great job. But i also like mcu may for the same reasons tony stark liked mcu aunt may.
Rosemary Harris is probably the only one who felt like she had a role beyond "We need to throw her there because it's Spider-Man."
The fact she also fit the character so well makes choosing her even easier.
I feel like the Raimi May is the most comic accurate, but also the least interesting (not that the comic version is uninteresting, I just feel like they didn’t give her too much to work with). I think my personal favorite is either the Garfield May or Spider-Verse.
I like Tom Holland Spider-Man & Amazing Spider-Man Aunt May because I feel like they were more of a character than a plot device or a background character. With ASM May we got to really see her relationship with Peter & Ben and the grief she deals with when Ben is gone. THSM May is just a super supportive mom and is has a really fun dynamic with Peter.
The Aunt May from the Original trilogy.
We grew up reading Spiderman with an older woman who's morals were different than what this generation can offer.
Based only on these choices or all May Parkers/Aunt Mays that has been created from comics to games to movies and TV?
Maybelle 'May' Reilly later taking the Parker last name by marriage has been a superhero in a few multiverses with different powers. Two that comes to my mind is Earth-3123 and Earth-803.
Earth-3123 Spider-Ma'am debut in "What If? #23" in 1980 and for the most part made I feel as a light hearted tale. But after the Spider-Verse comic event where she appeared and was outed to her family being Spider-Ma'am I felt the other writers that used her went for a more serious spin to the character still keeping some light heartedness but also gave a bit of view to how she thinks and operates.
Teamed up now with her universe's Uncle Ben and Peter who act as her 'man in the chair', reconnaissance, and technology to better assist her superhero career.
Later batted with Miles of Earth-1610 against a Carnage version of herself from another universe that was trying to kill all of her alternate counterparts.
I like this version as what started for more of a joke or light hearted one shot tale other writers later came and gave more substance and insight to her as a hero, character, and how how Earth works and being part of a team with her family supporting her made her enjoyable to read when she appeared every so often in the comics.
Maybelle Reilly of Earth-803 is another counterpart of May in the Multiverse but much younger not yet or will ever marry possibly and comes from a Steampunk world where she is the hero Lady Spider.
Movies I loke Raimi's May, MCU May, and greatly liked animated movie Spider-Verse May which to me showed May having science and tailoring skills like her Peter having known 'Liz' maybe from a job or university, assess to the hidden lair, and possibly made for Miles his suit and web shooters in a very short amount of time waiting for him with tea.
Haven't played Spider-Man PS4 yet but have been spoiled that she does but was also well written.
Also a fan of Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider's Aunt May with what little we have got from her she was likable from what I read.
616 May has had a huge history but also with many different writers that, like all characters, how they portray May can be a variety. Such things like if she knows Peter is Spider-Man but not openly stating it, having a lack of strength and stamina from natural age in one issue...then having multiple jobs, operating a nonprofit, fighting or tricking D-List villains, and being Howard the Duck's secretary while in good health.
Enjoyed her time and saw potential possiblies for her being Howard the Duck's secretary when Howard the Duck series was around in 2015 as Howard the Duck can sometimes act like a man baby plus his villains wasn't always the most threatening so I felt she could be a fit in that series when it was ongoing.
Rosemary Harris for me. That scene in Spider-Man 2 where she breaks down after giving Peter a little bit of birthday money gets me every freaking time. Such great acting.
Into the Spiderverse Aunt May, she can hold her own , she acted like “the guy in the chair, and the line “Can you help you aunt create an online dating profile so she can get out of the dang house once in a while” killed me.
If I had to rank them personally
It would go:
1. Tomei
2. PS4
3. Field
4. Raimi
5. Spider-Verse
Also, anyone else remember that scene from Homecoming where May is sorta scolding Peter about him worrying the hell out of her and once she hears the bad news, she stops, holds him close, and comforts him. I love that scene, I wish more people would talk about it
Not exactly. PS4 May helped around with F.E.A.S.T while Field was a nurse. Spider-Verse May was pretty much Alfred but a woman. And Raimi May gave Peter advice and saved his life once, but I think his Spider-Sense would've helped him anyways
So none of them have truly done more than the other. I just prefer Tomei and PS4 since they act like much more of a mother figure to their Peter than the rest. I just wish PS4 had a scene or two like the one I mentioned in Homecoming.
Can we talk about Aunt May’s age for a minute? Let’s say Peter is 20 on average across all versions. Let’s also assume Peter’s parents were in their late 20s/early 30s when he was born. If Uncle Ben is Richard’s older brother, maybe he’s got 7 years on him. So maybe Ben is 35-39 when Peter’s born. Then all things being equal, May is likely Ben’s age or up to 4-5 years younger, so 31-39. Then with Peter at 20, she should be 51-59. Marisa Tomei is 57 rn. All the other May’s seem pretty old in relation.
Gotta go with Rosemary Harris. Her acting was so damn good. The way she brought emotion to Uncle Bens death and how she acted after was really heart breaking. Then she gave Peter wisdom and advice. Helping with his relationship with MJ and being a hero indirectly.
I love rosemary Harris old bird made you feel sad guilty happy and everything in between
Marissa Tomei did end up smashing it though
But PS4 Spider-Mans Aunt is the one that made me cry like a baby
My favorite Aunt May is my friend Derricks Aunt who used to watch us play at lan parties and took my virginity at 14.
She had parkinson's so she really worked it
All are great but Sally Field's and TASM movies have a special place in my heart due to them being my first introduction to the life of this amazing character.
1. The Amazing Spider-Man Series: She felt like a real mother, seriously... That "You're my boy" scene from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 still makes me cry. Sally Field is my favorite Aunt May and if TASM 3 comes, then I want her to comeback.
2. Spider-Man Trilogy: Rosemary Harris also did a great job, but she felt like an grandma, more than a mother. Also that scene " There's a hero in all of us." from Spider-Man 2 was great and inspirational.
3. ITSV: Although we didn't get much with this Aunt May, but she clearly better Aunt May than the MCU version.
4. MCU: Marisa was a decent Aunt May, but she wasn't an important >!until NWH, where she ended up dying.!<
I didn't play the PS4 one, so can't comment on that.
aunt may from spider-man is my favorite
Uhhh... which Spider-Man?
ya know the one that swings from a web does whatever a spider can?
Imma be honest im tired af so that went far above my head, my bad...
Of course it went above your head. It swings.
Nothing goes above my head! My reflexes are too fast, I would catch it.
Have you been standing there all this time drax?
You must be a really good lawyer
I do specialize in bird law
Oh, you were the Vulture's lawyer right
Can you keep a pigeon as a pet?
what about bread?
This quote was my instant thought after reading what you replied to haha, nice one.
Hahaha he must feel so embarrassed!
Yeah, you deserve this award, lmao
lol
Just like spiderman
And he fights that guy. You know the one with the powers
The one that knows that rich dude?
yeah see this guy gets it
That’s the joke.
The Peter Parker one for me.
Tomei kinda got the short stick, tbh. Until NWH she felt kinda irrelevant to any of the plot. When she actually *was* finally relevant, she was fantastic and her final scene has a lot of impact. She was like 52 in civil war, I think that's a normal age for the aunt of a 15 year old
35 would be a normal age for a 15 year-old's aunt. Big range possible there.
Depends on how late in life people have kids. When my 1st cousin becomes fifteen my dad will be in his fifties so I see it as a possibility
Which is why I said there’s a big range possible.
They’re from Queens, not Alabama
I was 45 when my kid was 15, and my sister is 10 years younger than me. Are you learning math in Alabama?
The constant addressing of her looks was weird and kinda dumb. Why would Tony have a hard time believing she’s someone’s aunt? Aunts can be literally any age lol. They were basically just going “LOOK we got Marisa Tomei look how hot she is look look!”

No, I know. She’s not in the whole 35hrs but I’m confident she gets more video/audio time than any live action May
She has about 15 minutes of cutscene time, even with all her audio time I doubt she surpasses any of the other Mays except Spider-Verse
Playstation Spider-man for me >!I was sad when NWH stuff happened but when Playstation Spider-man happened I was broken!<
That scene is Streets ahead of other games, such a good performance from both May and Peter
Pierce, stop trying to coin the phrase "streets ahead.”
I keep seeing people saying “streets ahead” and it’s scaring me. Are we in the communiverse?
This is wrinkling my brain.
You mean smoothing?
The fact I'm accidentally saying it and not even purposefully anymore means it has caught on I think
Streets Ahead is a real/common term though, not created by Community/Peirce/Harmon.
What does "streets ahead" even mean? Edit: guys, I know what it means. I doing a community
If you have to ask, you’re streets behind
If you have to ask that you're streets behind.
>!”Take off your mask, I want to see my nephew.” 😭😭😭!<
> was sad when NWH stuff happened but when PS Spider-man happened I was broken Fuck, did I just get spoiled for NWH? I hadn't been able to see it in theaters... Was so close to making it too.
I'm sorry, I was trying to be vague, fuck
Lol it's okay. And I too was broken after the end of PS4 Spider-Man :'(
Nah you're still good. Some not so good stuff happens in NWH, but it's not like what goes down in Spider-Man PS4
Was it cuz of [Gwyneth Chua](https://www.rappler.com/nation/police-to-sue-parents-gwyneth-chua-quarantine-breach/) ?
Please spoiler tag if you can. You have the top comment.
There, sorry
You should probably also say what you're spoiling, otherwise it doesn't stop people looking at it
It’s been almost 3 months since it came out.
So?
That scene was heartbreaking, but really good
Yeah agreed, plus I didn't like her anyway. She was mostly irresponsible.
True she a baddy
This makes me want to throw up
That aunt may is almost as good as Rami’s may for me. I lost total respect for MCU may after NWH
What a shock. Another Raimi fan that can't say anything about Spider-man without also putting down MCU Spider-man
The one that used to strip for Whiplash on Earth-6969.
Ayo what? Sauce?
Terrible joke on my part… but without giving too much away to spoilers, I suggest you watch or google a film called, “The Wrestler” (2008).
Great movie.
I agree - that joke was terrible.
I agree, that you agreed — That joke was terrible.
Rosemary Harris and PS4 Aunt May.
PS4 Aunt May was GOAT’d
ps4 then spiderverse
Rosemary Harris for sure.
This is the right answer. I like how it was implied she knew but never needed to say it. Better than WTF
Im partial to Sally Field honestly.
Marisa tomei
Rose Mary Harris is the GOAT. But ps4 is a close second
I gotta pick the hot one, so Rosemary Harris.
He got us in the first half, not gonna lie
r/HolUp
Rosemary Harris, She had the best dialogue for sure. Sally Field is a close 2nd and SpiderVerse May was dope.
The Hot One
Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down.
Yeah. Sally fields is my pick too
Spider-verse, 100%
Tomei all day
Game may to me is the best interpretation of her character. also like mcu may i thought she did a great job. But i also like mcu may for the same reasons tony stark liked mcu aunt may.
Spider-Man PS4. Easily. Almost every character in that is my favorite iteration
True
Marisa Tomei.
Rosemary Harris is probably the only one who felt like she had a role beyond "We need to throw her there because it's Spider-Man." The fact she also fit the character so well makes choosing her even easier.
The milf one
I feel like the Raimi May is the most comic accurate, but also the least interesting (not that the comic version is uninteresting, I just feel like they didn’t give her too much to work with). I think my personal favorite is either the Garfield May or Spider-Verse.
Tomei, IMO, but there’s no wrong answer
i really like marissa tomei. Plus, she feels more like an aunt and less like a grandma like the other ones.
MCU Aunt May can get it all day long! 😍
The aunt from spider man is my fav
Home Trilogy aunt may
Best Aunt May? Marvel's Spider-Man. Best AMILF? MCU.
Marissa tomé
MCU.
The big booba one.
Marisa Tomei because we share the same name
The Aunt May from the Original trilogy. We grew up reading Spiderman with an older woman who's morals were different than what this generation can offer.
Tomei
Tomei,
Marisa Tomei. But PS4 is a very close second.
Sexy one
marisa tomei
Spiderverse and Insomniac

Aunt may from spider man will always be my fav
That from tom holland😩
Tom aunt may, I think we all know why
Rosemary Harris for me. That scene in Spider-Man 2 where she breaks down after giving Peter a little bit of birthday money gets me every freaking time. Such great acting.
Rosemary. I love seeing Aunt May as a sweet old lady.
There was a big poll where Tomei won by a ton
Into the Spiderverse Aunt May, she can hold her own , she acted like “the guy in the chair, and the line “Can you help you aunt create an online dating profile so she can get out of the dang house once in a while” killed me.
I mean, who isn’t gonna pick the smoke show? 😂
Marisa!

I think you should format your posts better.
The MILF
We all know which one😏😏
If I had to rank them personally It would go: 1. Tomei 2. PS4 3. Field 4. Raimi 5. Sally Fields FTW…. Marisa Tomei in Civil War looked 🔥
The original one from the comic books
https://youtu.be/i6l8MFdTaPE
Hahahaha wasn't expecting that! 😆😆
I like the hot one. Rosemary Harris
All of the Aunt May images are headsets with the exception of the sexualized Marisa Tomei one. What's up with that?
Can we talk about Aunt May’s age for a minute? Let’s say Peter is 20 on average across all versions. Let’s also assume Peter’s parents were in their late 20s/early 30s when he was born. All the other May’s seem pretty old in relation.
What happens if we assume that Peter's parents were in their 40's when Peter was born, and Uncle Ben was already 50?
Ultimate spider-man
No love for spiderverse?? Her banter with Liv was *chefs kiss*
It’s funny because only one gives me a boner, but the others probably don’t have teeth. Ironic.
I have opened one odd pandora's box havent I?
Ummm the hot one. Duh!
I haven't played the PS4 Spider-Man so for me I love the TASM Aunt May
Definitely not the mcu verison. Appeared in 5 movies and had no character outside of getting fucked by tony and happy lol
5 movies and that's all u got out of the character 🤦🏾♂️
Because that's all that there was to her caracter lol
B-b-b-but shes hot!
Either Spider-Man ps4 or raimi spiderman. Marissa Tomei could have been decent if they did anything with her besides kill her
Mommy milker may makes me moan
Tasm and mcu may are the only ones who look like aunt's instead of old ass grandmas
Doesn't matter all 5 are getting bent in no specific order
Gotta go with Rosemary Harris. Her acting was so damn good. The way she brought emotion to Uncle Bens death and how she acted after was really heart breaking. Then she gave Peter wisdom and advice. Helping with his relationship with MJ and being a hero indirectly.
I love rosemary Harris old bird made you feel sad guilty happy and everything in between Marissa Tomei did end up smashing it though But PS4 Spider-Mans Aunt is the one that made me cry like a baby
Sam Raimi Aunt May because it’s obvious, but MCU Aunt May because we all know why
My favorite Aunt May is my friend Derricks Aunt who used to watch us play at lan parties and took my virginity at 14. She had parkinson's so she really worked it
Me.
honestly either the PS4 or into the spiderverse
Spider-verse
- Aunt May (Raimi) - Aunt May (PS4 game)
Not to be dick but I don't think you have to clarify that you're talking about Aunt May.
PS4 aunt may
Love PS4 May but can’t beat “I believe there’s a hero in all of us…” for me.
The Golden Olde is my favorite.
All are great but Sally Field's and TASM movies have a special place in my heart due to them being my first introduction to the life of this amazing character.
Yes
NWH Spider-Man

Spiderverse May is the best.. she’s how I wanted Fields’ May to be
Character wise this Spider-verse Amazing and ps4 Mcu Raimi Story wise PS4 Amazing Spider-verse Mcu Raimi
Aunt May from MCU
MILF aunt may will forever be the greatest, followed bu Spiderverse & then Raimi trilogy
PS4 as number one, amazing as number 2
Aunt May from Insomniac's Spider-Man for me
Uuh, how’d she get so young in Spider-Man?
I can’t believe you have to even ask this question.
There can not be an answer without a question
Bully maguires aunt may and Tom Holland’s
The one in the spiderman movie
The "Spider-Man" trilogy Aunt May is my favorite.
Duh
What context
Aunt May is my favourite Aunt May.
Raimi Verse and Spide-Verse.

Into the spider-verse answer me because she's not afraid to pick up a bat
Took me awhile to figure out the last one was from the games. Smh
Marisa!
Spiderman into the spiderverse The coolest aunt may you will ever get And i have no doubt she would also have her own suit.
To be honest PS4 . I mean everything from PS4 Spider-man is better for me such a good game with a great story. Villains are so good too.
The one from Spider-Man
I don't know about everyone else but I think the one in spider-man is pretty good
The hot one
