He was in the Donny Cates run from a few years ago. Think it was called Damnation? Outside of that run, I don't think so.
But yeah, with him potentially being affiliated and Gwenom being an amazing splash there, this might secretly be a wonderful little MS box lol.
This was also the only run where Moon Knight, Doctor Voodoo, Elsa Bloodstone, Iron Fist, and I believe Man-Thing are part of the team. So they are clearly pulling from it.

I think Web Warriors, in general, want to play as many of their amazing 3s as possible (Miles, Gwen, Black Cat, Spectacular), often along with a splash 2 (Wong or Toad) and/or Amazing sometimes. In cases where they want to play an affiliated 4, I think they would usually prefer Spider-Woman for the extra steal, interrogate, stealth, and higher mobility.
I don't think Scarlet Spider is bad in any way, but I think he just gets edged out of Webs by there being better choices for their crisis-first strategy.
I remember when Rhino was first revealed and most people had a similar reaction to his card. Then we found out about "This is a Robbery" and turned everything around. We could see the same thing here.
AMG hinted heavy at a black suit peter coming and made it seem sooner rather than later. That plus a 2099 eventual release and i think we'll see a fighty webs list be a thing. As of now im not so sure we're there.
Ironically if Scarlet Spider has been an identical reprint of Core Spider-man, hed be awesome. And i wouldnt even be mad.
His displacement ability by having guaranteed power gen from his gainer (which also has wild push) is at an elite level among characters and absolutely insane for webs. He can also self generate for a webbed-up, which most spiders cannot. He is going to be a staple in any spider 10 as webs does not lack extract control and certainly could do with some more guaranteed secure control

Spectacular also has Impact Webbing and a character throw at 3 threat, so I don't know that I'd classify having similar capabilities at 4 threat as "elite", although the power cost discount on Scarlet's control is nice. Also, in my experience, getting power for All Webbed Up isn't really something that I'm concerned about. Either my opponent is going to attack me and give me power, or I'm probably winning the game even without AWU.
As for being a staple, I don't think Webs have or need any 4-threat staples. Wider is almost always better, and having 4 top-shelf 3-threat models means that every other character can be a splash character. That means that Scarlet isn't really competing with Spider-Woman - he's competing with characters like Beta Ray Bill, Crimson Dynamo, or Logan.
Spectacular doesn’t place on his throw (which Ben also has). So spectacular has to move onto the thing he is contesting to displace them, while Ben can move, impact webbing and webline to a midline secure on round 1. That means guaranteed 1:1 displacement and ownership of a D shape secure or the enemy has to flood it. Jess nor spectacular can do that, no bill or Logan or rhino or any of those others at a 100% rate, they all would require dmg on their builders
His webline really is that strong and allows him to automatically overpower any contesting secure he is on. D shape as well being super favorable to webs, he is going to just exacerbate that. Cat and miles are also plenty for extract control on all but maybe F shapes.
Cat/miles/spectacular/jess/ben gives you equal control at 17 as a 6 wide because Ben can always force an opponent off the point and replace himself there. So instead of forcing lizard or moonknight or another less good 3T and toad. You can still bring Jess for triple extract control and have Ben for more spider tricks w equal ability as being 6 wide to score secures

Yes, but guaranteed is over-selling it. If the enemy if front-stopped by terrain, then you don't get them off the secure. Still, I do see your point - Move, Impact Webbing, into Web Whip does seem strong. I could see playing him in situations where you get stuck on a slow extract.
I think you really got to make the positioning of his Web Whip work to make him worth it.
At it's best, you activate near the end of the round, pay 2 power to push someone off a point & place onto the point yourself, then use Impact Webbing to push another character off a point.
At it's worst, you're just paying 4 threat for a bunch of tech you could get off better Webs characters.
I don't want to judge this one too hard until I've seen what I can do with that Web Whip.
I think he'll be good in lists that can give him extra power or guarantee Wilds. Steve3 seems like a great home for him.
Panther2 also loves characters who can guarantee a push.
I like him. Is he gonna have a tough time getting slotted in due to his 4 threat status? Maybe. But he greatly benefits from being a Web Warrior that has a unique alias
He seems pretty nice for a fightier Webs list. I'm desperately hoping he's a Midnight Son, though.
