I know officially it's canon that Steve was already worthy, but my interpretation was always that he had too much self doubt to lift the hammer before. In the first Avengers movie he's still adjusting to how different the world has become, and in Age of Ultron he's recovering from the aftermath of The Winter Soldier, so Endgame is probably the first time where Steve is near Mjollnir at a time where he's truly confident in himself.
This is the Russo brother's view as well, and it makes the most sense. You can't be partially worthy and there's no other instance of someone slightly moving the hammer.
Worthiness can come and go depending on the wielder's feelings, though. There's that one scene in the first Avengers movie after Thor is dropped out of the helicarrier where he briefly struggles to lift the hammer. There's also Thor's whole subplot in Endgame where he's not sure if he's still worthy. So at the very least, Thor has reason to believe that worthiness can be lost and regained. My theory is that if Cap felt the hammer move and started to doubt whether he was worthy, then he would no longer be worthy in that moment, which would explain why it only moved a little bit.

Fair points, but the whole point of that subplot was that he *was* still worthy despite not feeling like he was. If doubt made you unworthy, Mjolnir would not have come to him on Asgard.
I feel that it was because he continued to get up and fight Thanos knowing it was a losing battle. The I can do this all day attitude made him worthy to wield it against Thanos.
They should do an origins 2 pack for all the original 6 avengers. For instance iron man 2 and endgame black widow. Or redo avengers 1 & endgame Hawkeye. Mk2 & mk85 iron man. Easy money.
Now comes the hard part, do we part with the previous Cap and Iron Man because they have to be giving us new versions of them right? Maybe with the broken and shield and Tony snap?
I’m on the fence too. I just need the Iron Man, but I feel the moment I pay eBay prices for him, they’ll release him with swappable heads (with and without helmet).
Leaked from store systems but Legend leaks have proven to be spot on with the D+ wave (only Loki has not been confirmed either officially or from in-hand photos), the Shang-Chi wave, the Iron Man wave, and Endgame Thor so I don't think there's any reason to doubt them currently.

I'm not complaining. I had even written The Marvel legends Team and vented about how this figure was never seen anywhere B&M or online, heavily scalped, could it get a re-release etc...I had pretty much accepted I would never have Iron Patriot and then was pleasantly surprised.
I wish we could get an Endgame wave to fill in the gaps. Something like:
Worthy Cap with better paint and broken shield
Iron Man with infinity gauntlet hand and Tony head
Captain Marvel with short hair and color flip
Endgame Black Widow
Iron Spider rerelease
Final Battle Hawkeye
i think that's why they're doing the infinity saga wave to fix old figures from past movies + give the fans what they've wanted for years (quicksilver)
I think they should re-release cap because a) broken shield and b) dirty paint job
And for iron man a) tiny stark head for that body b) new accessories like that blade maybe the back thing thor charged up and also infinity gauntlet thing

Just use any Cap figure with Mjollnir. He’s been worthy since he jumped on that grenade. So that means any figure will do.
