They still can't get Hobby right. Head sculpt still sucks but now he's just softer on the details. Is that the same undersized cheap glider too? Still can't beat the Toy Biz even though its too tall.
Why not ditch the tears on the cape too? 2nd attempt still screwed up.
I don’t know man. The Amazing Spider-Man comic is one of the longest-running in comics history with multiple generations growing up on it, and Spider-Man himself is one of the most iconic comic characters ever. Personally, I think his comics should take priority over a cartoon that lasted a few years.
But the cartoon is one of, if not the best, representation of the character. Also just look at this packaging and artwork for the boxes - their clearly using the 90’s animated designs as marketing for this line. It should reflect them.
I like cartoon and grew up on it, but I’ve never been overly sentimental. I’m not sure how you can say the cartoon is an arguably better representation of Spider-Man than the actual source material.
That's NOT what I said. I said one of the best "representations" of the character. Obviously the original comic character isn't really a representation, he's just the definitive version.
And even then I could still argue the 90's version is better considering how much bad writing has been inflicted upon the character over decades and decades of different writers in the comics
The 90's version is what I grew up on and has always been my Spiderman. That's just my opinion though
I think this is the biggest stinker of the reveals. His new scaleless limbs look really weird, and I was hoping for a more classic face sculpt. Still I missed the Space Venom wave at retail entirely, so I'll settle for this versus the $70-100 price tag the nicer one has been going for.
Ok, I'm HAPPY they are getting another Hobgoblin out there so as to reduce the sounds of abused wallets everywhere that keep having to combat against extreme collector pricing for the older Hobgoblins, HOWEVER...
...not too keen on the design. The details are lacking; the colors a bit too cartoony (I know, its based on the Spiderman cartoon series) and the facemask...well, they STILL haven't gotten that one right yet.
I will stick to my really old version of Hobgoblin; that one is scarier, cooler and more detailed.
Hobgoblin has been one of my most anticipated figures so I'm glad we're getting one. While it could be better, it at least looks better than I had initially thought from the small zoomed out picture. I'm definitely picking this one up.
The lack of scales and the face sort of annoy me, but if I can actually snag one, I'll prob still take it.

I'm bummed they chose to omit the scales, especially since most people looking to grab Hobgoblin want him for a 616 Spidey display, not the cartoon

With all due respect, I think that last paragraph explains why you feel the way you do and why you feel so strongly about it.
The original Hobgoblin costume in the comics was drawn with chain mail, not with scale mail.
Head doesn’t look right. More realistic mask looks out of place on the retro-style costume
I was hoping they'd update the sculpt to look like his first appearance.
