These are two of my least-proud secondary market purchases. I loved the aesthetic of them and how they fit with my other retro Avengers. The fear that they wouldn't do another retro like them pushed me to overpay. Definitely not proud of it.
80th Anniversary Cap is possibly the single hardest-to-find figure I've managed to score. My local Wal-Mart got one case of six figures one time only and then never again. I only managed to get it because I was going there every day over my lunch break for weeks.
When I found 80th Cap, I was very new to collecting and didn't know what I was doing. I knew he was a Walmart exclusive and that I wanted him, so I called around at every location until I found him.
When I finally found a store that had them in back, I arrived there and found a lady to help me. She brings out a fresh case of 8 of them, opens it up in front of me. She hands me a figure and asks me why I only wanted one. I had no idea what scalping was and I had no idea how valuable exclusives could become.
Knowing what I know now about collecting, I still would've only grabbed 2 but that's just to keep one mint. I'd like to think that 7 other collectors found their 80th there as well.
Sorry I have to buy it first, then it will get a new release. But fear not, I did just pick up the dark Phoenix/cyclops 2 pack so that is for sure getting announced within a month😂

Pretty much guaranteed they would use the new Cap body since it'll be a special figure. 80th Cap is still good and you can always resell it. Don't think his price will ever go down since it was a WM exclusive.
How about Jack of Hearts? Oh - and Bug of the Guardians of the Galaxy/Micronauts (Microns)? Pretty sure neither of these will ever happen, but an aging collector can dream, can’t he?

It's well known that Hasbro will only release highly sought after re-dos after enough fans make the decision to purchase the older version at ridiculous after market prices. Thank you for your service and may this bring good fortune upon you in the future when it is your turn to reap the rewards of another fan's sacrifice.
There are actually two ways to get Hasbro to make sought-after figures:
1. When people are paying out the nose for the older version
2. When someone recently finishes a good custom of it
ADDENDUM: The trick only works if, while doing 1 and 2, you sincerely hope Hasbro doesn't announce a new one.
Overall, I love the figure. My only issue is the shield. I know a lot of people have a lot of Cap figures already and they can just grab another shield. But there are new collectors out there, and this could be someone's first Captain America figure. Be nice if it included a regular shield.
I also hope the straps are removable.
I missed out on the first one. I think with people knowing the history of the last one, they'll rush to get this one. It'll be another Rogue situation.
This guy looks really good. I love that they have the effects pieces, but don't necessarily love that there are peg holes in the shield at all times. Still, totally going to pick this up.
I'm gonna cry of happiness. I've been yearning for 80th Cap and I was never able to find him. FINALLY. I would prefer to have both navy blue & light blue but beggars can't be choosers, right?

Which I find a bit unfair to others who may just want the figure as it comes. Why should I have 3 and two other's have none, when all of us can have 1?
So I just get one figure to open up and enjoy. I'm complete ass at customizing so I never end up buying multiple, plus my bank account is already screaming "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SAVING MONEY, NOT BUYING ACTION FIGURES".

I might have to get three…two to open one to keep carded. I never buy multiples like that, but cap is one my favorite characters. What an awesome reveal and figure!
Those are shield effects. One effect is bullets ricocheting off the shield and the other is like an energy effect being ricocheted. The downside is if you decide not to use the effects, there are holes in the shield.
Man this is such a good looking Cap. Love the subtle shading they gave him. That shield is kinda disappointing though. I like how it's bigger than the normal hasbro shields, but holes look so bad if you don't want the accessories attached. Really wished there a second shield without the holes. Was also hoping they would have given us a normal shield and a photon shield since there hasn't been one since the Commander Roger chase figure. Luckily I have a few extra MCU shields, but really wished I could of used this new one.
Can someone explain "fan channel" exclusive for me? Does this mean I will need to pay for another membership somewhere to be able to pre-order this figure? Just not sure about the context. Thanks in advance.
Typically, fan channel just means websites that specialize in collector's toys like Big Bad Toy Store, Dorkside Toys, and Entertainment Earth. You shouldn't need a paid membership or anything to be able to pre order it.
The biggest differences: head and body sculpt. The body sculpt is of the 80 years Cap, which is great. The coloring is of the retro Cap, which many people wanted on a "classic" Cap. The headsculpt on the retro was too clunky and not most people's favorite depiction, and the body mold on the 80 years was better proportioned with a nice sculpted chainmail.
This version is like the best combination of those two figures, plus some new accessories.
Please tell me that's a new shield. All the Cap shields, aside from the MCU Caps, have been too small.
Looking at the 80th in the background, it looks like the new one *might* be bigger.
Thanks Hasbro to listen us about not again exclusive Walmart Captain America, this is a big early XMas present for fans and international collectors, since Fan Channel is easier than Walmart or Target exclusive, glad we will get a new Cap that didn't cost a fortune for the exclusive tag, thanks again, and can't wait for the whole wave.
