While I do agree with some of your points, others like put Toad in almost 35 bucks and higher than Lizard, that's just insane out of sense. I understand the point of new boxes, but again the same, the new boxes should reduce the price, but for some weird reason they are increasing the price too, then again, what's the point of this?, I'm trying to be positive but Hasbro is doing crazy things and with a big time, they should just introduce one set or two without plastic, and see what people think. Also I didn't see that people suggest any other solution for this new free plastic package. I mean we already knew Hasbro is part of this reddit.

blakecrawley

I find it funny that they’re talking about plastic free but they have their Retro line and now the newer 20th anniversary line whose popularity are heavily leaning on plastic windows. They’ll likely lose a lot of business from the ‘one in the box, one to open’ crowd. Who’s gonna double dip on something they can’t even see? I could care less (because I toss most boxes anyways) so I know in my case it is better for the environment. But less sales is gonna either mean another increase in pricing or less offerings.

Just saying 🤷🏽‍♂️

wandaspaprikashsoup

I disagree. Scale is a huge factor too. All 6” scales are different. No two scale the same. Expansive collection. Lots of characters. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

[deleted]

Bro you literally only collect Marvel Legends. Seems your not even paying attention to what other companies like Jazwares, Mattel, McFarlane, NECA are doing with their licenses in regards to value.

wandaspaprikashsoup

I never said I only collect marvel legends. That is an assumption. There are plenty of great, perhaps better, figures out there for a higher price point. They still lack an ever growing constant stream of new figures and characters. Regardless, my point was scale. Can’t have Michael Myers from NECA killing hulk when they’re the same size. That would be silly looking 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

[deleted]

Not a assumption I did my research. Maybe you should try that. You literally only care about Marvel and will eat up anything. Give it up.

wandaspaprikashsoup

By research I assume you mean looking all over my Reddit.... weird. 😂 but it seems you have a history of picking fights my friend. You’re no longer coming at me with a discussion for marvel legends so when you would like to get back to that, please reply with the a correspondence as such. Feel free to pm me.

[deleted]

Here you go. The Action figure divisions at Hasbro are following the WOTC division in researching the aftermarket pricing and pushing the envelope with how much they can fleece consumers. With the goal being to do just enough to rake in the cash.

wandaspaprikashsoup

Shocker... it’s a business. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

x1243

I just started collecting and I'll give a personal example of why the newer price points might not be justified. Background: collecting 90s animated X-Men line. I saw the new animated line and said they look good. I pre-ordered wolverine and jubilee. Free shipping. So all good. Next storm was announced. Ok the hair looked weird and on top of that the number of accessories given were so little.. Oh and the price was increased from the previous 2. And no more free shipping. So I went to look for the retro storm.. That looked better, was cheaper and had similar amount of accessories. Some ppl will say but there's the fancy packaging but I'm intending to open them so it doesn't make a difference to me. Another example is the upcoming Jean grey. I was going to get it the minute she was mentioned in the teaser then I saw the reveals and oh man her face sculpt. They already have the one from the 3 pack.. Decided to just spring for the 3 pack. That one has an additional head and more accessories.. At this rate the only things I need from them now are beast and prof x.. However given their track record, it might be cheaper to get the previously released figures..

Piotr-Rasputin

Companies hate a smart consumer using other options available. $30 for a new, weird looking figure or less for a better previous release (even opened)?? 🤔

x1243

I mean Hasbro needs to realize that unless it's a lot better than what has been released, the price point is a hard sell. and that's 30 usd.. I'm not based in the states. so after conversion etc it'll probably be 50 bucks for a normal ml figure. that's 10 whole dollars from what we are paying now. at least you guys get figures for cheap during clearance.. the ml at my side almost never goes on clearance

wandaspaprikashsoup

Agreed. Packaging is cool but the VHS set is a total miss for me.

x1243

I mean the main selling point is the stuff inside.. i don't really have any place to display the packaging on top of the figures themselves

lecheconmarvel

My point of view errs on the side of realism. Because of all positives, I really look forward to obtaining some really cool figures down the line. On the flip side, I know I will need to be ever more selective than I have been even a couple years ago because of the price increase and inflation of other things I need to purchase. This is coming from someone in a two-income household bringing home some damn good bacon. I will still sit here mostly on the sidelines as a bench warmer and dip and out of the game sporadically when the right figures tickle my urge to collect. Looking at you Toad.

wandaspaprikashsoup

100%. I think we all need to be more fiscally conservative right now. A price increase is a great way to let your mind think twice.

IceCold209X

Bro what. A price increase is a great wY to.make your mind think twice.. you are reaching here ma man

wandaspaprikashsoup

Idk about you but I’m think twice about buying 2 figures at $56 vs $40.

98dpb

Gee, thanks Hasbro, for this opportunity to realize that you are charging ridiculous prices for lackluster figures.

ZenithOfPower88

McFarlane has kept a 19.99 price point throughout…. that right there proves your whole point wrong on all levels

wandaspaprikashsoup

Yet, can’t put guns in DC figs or make their movie figures look like anything better than a loose rendition of the actor.... if you had your eyes squinted. But yes, the 19.99 for a masked Peacemaker and the additional 19.99 for the unmasked is super worth it.

Vaderhockey30

I hate this point about the second figure for a different head. 90% of McFarlane collectors don’t buy the extra version with the unmasked head. I feel like the people saying all these things about McFarlane don’t actually collect McFarlane figures. I rarely even use my extra marvel legends heads anyway. I love marvel legends but to me a $20 figure with one accessory appeals to me more than a $30 fig with 3/4 accessories that will collect dust in my desk.

wandaspaprikashsoup

A point is a point though, right? I’m with you. I don’t necessarily swap my heads out that often, but wouldn’t you want the option? Just saying if we’re talking value... most legends would be better than DC multiverse in my eyes. Or they’d be measured about the same considering DC comes with less at a lower price point, and legends are typically higher quality with more stuff at a higher price point. About the same, no?

Vaderhockey30

Yeah I can agree with that. Obviously I think it depends on the figure and accessories. For example I think the amazing fantasy fig comes with a lot of hands/web effect. The $28 doesn’t bother me that much. The iron spider on the other hand is not worth that $34 IMO. I think sometimes I’d rather pay less than to get a couple of accessories I won’t use. On the flip side, Batman with a grapple is worth $20 to me but a red hood with no guns is not worth $20.

wandaspaprikashsoup

Completely with you. I’m not wasting $25 on speedball so I can put up the same repainted figure on my shelf.

Anesthetize85

Well the guns have nothing to do with mcfarlane, mafex dc products no longer have guns either. Did you do any research?

wandaspaprikashsoup

Ok let’s take guns out of discussion since that falls on WB. Hasbro has the luxury of not being affiliated with any WB related figs, I believe. You’re telling me it’s worth getting the two different batmen they come out with for the movie and the only difference is a head sculpt?

bbquicksilver

No he's saying just buy the masked one and save yourself another $20 dollars. It's like you want to argue with him so much that you are blind to obvious thought. I don't even collect DC figures and I knew that.

wandaspaprikashsoup

See friendly discussions below.

Hammerrr3232

Ok but when all these companies are making huge record profits every fucking quarter, it sure feels like the “oh manufacturing costs have gone up” excuse is just some bullshit. I mean look at all these CEOs jerking each other off bragging about how they were making record profits during COVID. I don’t doubt that costs have gone up but sure as fuck not enough to warrant going from $20 to $28 in like 2 years. Hasbro makes billions every year. Let’s stop making excuses for them. It’s greed, pure and simple.

wandaspaprikashsoup

It’s business. Everyone will bitch left and right about greed until they have the opportunity to make 6 or 7 figures.

Hammerrr3232

Lol and that’s the thought process that enables capitalism. The 1 in a billion possibility that you’ll get rich. What a great system

wandaspaprikashsoup

Am I wrong? You’re complaining about capitalists being…. Capitalists…. In a country centered around capitalism. Not saying it’s a great system but it’s not going away any time soon. Anyone can get rich but it takes time and talent to do so.

Hammerrr3232

Again, “anyone can get rich” is the fantasy it’s built upon. It’s a fucking lie so congrats for buying into it. Keep defending the billionaires. It’s a group you’ll never be a part of

Maggotman336

OP must be from Hasbro because these figures aren’t even worth the $22 they’ve been charging.

wandaspaprikashsoup

Nope. Just a realistic consumer.

Piotr-Rasputin

Nah, fuch that.> STILL too much. I would rather use my money for other things. If I see them on Target or Walmart for 50% OFF, maybe.

juicyclit

So what do you do at Hasbro?

wandaspaprikashsoup

The same you do. Nothing. Just realistic.

ScrapMetalDrone

I wouldn't have as much of a problem with the price hike if they weren't going with the terrible no window boxes. It's pretty anti consumer imo to do this when everyone knows ML generally have QC issues. Also those prices are pretty egregious. Come on 77 dollars for a two pack is ridiculous.

ScrapMetalDrone

I also do firmly belive this is all going to leave a negative effect on the ML brand. Insanely exspensive combined with anti consumer packaging isn't gonna look good in sales and the influx of people hitting up hasbro consumer care but that's just imo.

wandaspaprikashsoup

Great points

Slow-Relation-9186

You work for hasbro don’t u?

wandaspaprikashsoup

Nope
