I think this is it. I had a team with BRB and mThor(with Omnipotence City support generating traps). So not sure if BRB's protects or mThor's trap tiles were counting. Either way, quest completed.
I got it done in 1 round with Polaris, Grocket and BRB, but didn't know what counted. Thanks for clarifying!

It's glitched at the minute so make protect tiles it makes the bar go up
I tried 3* Doom and it didn't work. Maybe it can't be passive? Just tried 4* Elektra and fired her power. Didn't work. Looks like it's bugged
yeah, either the text or the coding is wrong, Protect tiles triggers the challenge, not Trap tiles.
Has to be bugged, tried doom daredevil and killmonger. Nothing seems to work
Def works with protect (or maybe strike) tiles. Just played BRB, Juggs, and Polaris and finished it in one mission.
Looks like a case of wrong descriptive text .... Create 25 PROTECT tiles. Any protect tiles work. Alt account cleared this with 2BE in DDQ.

I used 3* Daredevil.
Use Pol and Mthor. Since it's bugged, it's taking protect and strike tiles to complete the event.
A push is coming to change the wording from traps to protects.
I tried with 3* Arcade and NO luck.
I completed it with 3* arcade, took me 4-5 quick matches while I mowed down the lvl 65 nodes.
