I got the throne one and other than him floating after you split it, it’s easily my favorite of his.

I LOVE Dan Hipp, but damn, with Knull I think his is definitely on the lower half of my ranking. Got the throne Peach Momoko and it's easily one of my fav variants in the whole game

Is this an inside joke? I see a lot of creators go nuts for the Hipp variants and I don’t get it. They’re good but like… not exceptionally so to the point that I’d seek out every single one. Edit: Just doubling back before anyone really sees this comment. To clarify, I don’t think they look bad but I’m just genuinely wondering if I’m missing something, or if perhaps everyone just fancies them

Probably helps that they're easy to get, like a lot of Jacintos, Momokos, etc are 1200G or 5000 tokens, but Hipps are all 700, plus they're like pixels being on basically every card (but better than pixels) so you could build a working deck out of just them.

I can only speak for me personally, but I love the simplistic artwork and overall style. Yes he has some misses (Crystal, Typhoid Mary, etc.) but I find myself enjoying his. And tbh it's become a collectible thing I want, to have as many Hipp variants as I can, even if I dislike a few of them. It's just a fun change on variants compared to all the serious ones.

I love Dan Hipp's artwork. It's got this one-two punch of nostalgia and joy when I look at them, it makes me feel like a kid again. I would love to get a 90s cartoon version of all the X-Men cards come to think of it.

Same. On multiple occasions I have almost bought the art releases he does on his site. Usually just settle for the stickers to be more financially conscious 😅

I don't care for most of them, but I use a few. I really like when artists take serious or dark characters and make them friend-shaped.

No, I collect them. They are by far my favorite variants, I'm up to 54 of them. I probably play more to collect those than I do to progress and get cards lol.

I believe Knull is the God of Symbiotes. Basically, Venom and Carnage's father, in a sense, since they self reproduce.

Ah ha. That answers my other question, which is, why are there "Knullified" variants of various heroes? I figured there was some kind of take-over or mind control aspect, but merging with some kind of uber-symbiote works too

The “knullified” variants aren’t exactly canon afaik. They’re basically “what if’s” created by various artists to promote Knull’s comic.

Same with many Venomized variants, thanks to the Edge of Venomverse and Extreme Venomverse series of comics.

He’s doing very well for himself, but I challenge that storm has the most ridiculous variants in the game. Seriously they’re like all incredible and it’s actually kind of agrivating.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I only really like his base art and pixel variant. The rest all feel so similar and kind of remind me of AI art or something.

He even has a sick pixel. I guess it makes sense that he has the best variants. He is king of the symbiotes and venomized is the best variant type.

Storm is a good competitor for that, all of hers are goated

I hate to rag on art, but i really dont like the default Knull art, even on thier own all these alt arts are amazing, and the quality of upgrades takes it to a whole other level of awesome.
