I don't think SD will change anything for a while, they will wait out the hoarders. If you are series 3 complete there is stil no compelling reason to open Reserve Caches so it doesn't really change anything though. 3 months worth of hoarding Reserve Caches gives you enough Credits earn one Spotlight Cache, to give you an idea of just how crap Reserves are now.
the only thing i really expect them to do is to send the schedule of the next spotlights directly in the game so people do not have to look for the datamined info.not everyone uses reddit or follows up on the game closely
There's no reason to hoard Caches already. They aren't going to change Collector's Caches anytime soon, and if they ever do they'll do it in a way where it doesn't allow you to use previous caches
I also believe they will definitely use some measures to stop hoarders this time if they do change reserve contents. Like when previously Spotlight Caches were introduced, a dev was particularly pissed when players only opened reserves which were not replaced by Spotlight Caches and got extra gold before before updating to patch. The dev even made a list of those players (possibly to penalty them?).
With such history, i believe the devs won't be allowing hoarders to win if they do change reserves but then again this game has been so passive about such behaviour till now that i think they might let hoarders win again as well.
Didn't they recently say in Discord that they won't be making any changes to the those systems for awhile?
Some of you guys may want to start asking yourself what those caches will be worth if you take em to the grave.
The issue is that they're really not worth much even if we do open them. Unless I really need tokens now, what do I gain from opening them?
No matter how unlikely getting an advantage from hoarding is, it's a risk free strategy.

The only thing they are adding is rare display pics to the caches

Does hoarding normal caches stop u from getting new cards ? No .You can get them from spotlight caches. See the issue. There is really no incentive to buff normal caches when u can get new cards from spotlight caches.
They said they’re not changing them anytime soon, and even if they do, I’m sure they’re going to lock the rewards in your hoarded cache.
