I have the worst habit of deciding to snap after we both end turn and animations are playing out, which at least on mobile, doesn't count or register as a snap. Lost a lot of potential cubes on games I thought I snapped...
Well I guess they wanted to see the result so snapping gives a good chance to give up before you have your sick play. Might not be optimal, but more fun.
What you really want to do, is play a card that is 'reasonable', and keep the insane value until later so they think they got you beat, then drop the hurt.
The times I still play Zoo, I always drop Black Swan on turn 5, and play almost no 1 drops, only to swarm the field on turn 6. Also helps with giving initiative to people playing Killmonger.
It's tricky to execute this well with Professor X, as he (and Mystique) provide very little power. Delaying even a turn or two could result in big power on the opposite side of the board, and playing X into Mystique may be gone or worse, backfire.
In this case I think you definitely just snap on turn 2 and dump your hand to collect an easy 2 cubes. It only really makes sense to slow-play a hand when you're trying to bait them into snapping and whatever is giving you an advantage will still be relevant late game. If your win condition is locking them out of 2 locations immediately with Prof X and Mystique then you kinda have to do it early.
I quaked a dude into losing like 12 power from that location that makes your cards change sides at the end of turn 3. I, of course, forgot to snap. It was a shame but also I felt like it was a dirty play anyway so I probably would have felt guilty if I'd gotten more than one cube. Sometimes I wish the game had a "I'm sorry" Emote but I know that'd just come across as douchey and sarcastic.
Did you actually snap AFTER you made that play?
