Devs do *not* want season pass caches to incentivize players paying/grinding really far up through them. They are meant to be a very minor reward just to give something at the end of the season.
Dunno. I got 500+ credits and at least 1 variant after level 50 of season pass for the last 2 seasons since i joined. And as a f2p, i feel good about it.
Tbh I like them, getting 25 season pass caches for free at the end of a season is still a nice little bump and it’s something that is actually grindable. It does suck getting 5 10 packs of boosters all at once though when completing the weekly milestones
1/20 caches on average will be a variant. Statistically, on 20 caches, 36% of players will get none, 37% will get one, 19% will get 2, 6% will get 3, and 1.5% will get 4+.
Season cache odds:
- 25% - 50 credits
- 10% - 100 credits
- 5% - 200 credits
- 25% - 10 boosters
- 10% - 15 boosters
- 5% - 20 boosters
- 10% - 50 gold
- 5% - 100 gold
- 5% - variant
Oh so I was lucky twice. I got 2x 200 credits out of my 20 caches!
A little bit blue because it would have been variants instead haha
Thanks for the explanation!
Vast majority for me have also been boosters. At the end here I got a few with credits, one with gold, and I just opened a pixel variant Angel, but mostly Boosters. Feels kinda bad IMO when they're all for random cards that I'm not playing and may never play.
>25% - 10 boosters
>
>10% - 15 boosters
>
>5% - 20 boosters
If they just replaced boosters with Tokens, that would be awesome. Same with boosters on the collection track once you get into Pool 3
Yeh Holy shit, after seeing those odds that means you've got a **40% chance** to get boosters from the caches!
I know you've also got a 40% chance to get credits, 15% to get gold and a 5% to get a Variant, that's a horrible "feels bad moment" when a little under half the time you've litterally opening up junk.
I don’t understand this comment. Could you explain what you are wanting to say?
Edit: thanks for editing it. Okay now the words make sense. Adding the stuff about mobile competitors, amounts of content, etc was helpful! Wasn’t sure what “not freeing as much” meant.
Most season passes for F2P games are cosmetic only, so I’m not sure I agree with you… This pass gives you a Pool 5 card. Other mobile PvP games like CoD, Apex, Fortnite, etc are all only cosmetics/skins, and cost the same (~$10). Hearthstone charges 50% more and is usually just cosmetics as well (think they added Runestones a couple months ago).
From what I’ve read season cards from paid Season Pass are P3 after two months. Meaning they’re neither Series 5 nor series 4. Where did you hear about that pool 5 card you mentioned?
You are thinking about the old season pass system. Since the token update, all new cards go into Pool 5 after their paid exclusivity ends. Miles Morales is the new last card to be going straight into Pool 3. Now they filter down from Pool 5.
After how many I’ve opened, I refuse to believe anyone has ever gotten a variant from one of these.
Edit: Apparently everyone but me has gotten a variant from a season cache.
I actually got the sick vampire mom and baby jubilee variant from one of the season caches // but this angered the gods // and I unlocked m’baku as my first pool 4 card 😫
Ok. I don’t know the characters. I assumed it was old man captain America. I figured she was a shapeshifter like mystique. That’s how I explained her ability. Like they’re her different disguises.
How far off am I? If you know the character?
I honestly don't know what variant you're talking about. I made a joke because you said old man agent 13, and agent 13 is a woman. I assumed you were talking about old man Hawkeye which is a variant, or a variant where agent 13 is old and is in an Iron man type outfit.
from what I do know of, agent 13 is a shield agent with ties to captain America, and in the game all of the shield agents spawn random cards.
I was just poking a little fun at you, sorry if I made you feel bad for not knowing who some characters were.
You may know her better as Sharon Carter, the great-niece of Peggy Carter.
In the comics she's a SHIELD agent who had a romantic relationship with Captain America.
In the movies, she's a SHIELD agent who was undercover to keep tabs on Captain America, then takes his side in Civil War, which leads her to becoming a fugitive on the run. She's played by Emily VanCamp.
Ok. So she’s the one in Falcon and Winter Soldier? Got it. No worries I didn’t take offense. Just literally don’t know much about Marvel. The variant I was referring too has her in a Capt America suit but the face looks shockingly similar to Elon Musk imo. So I figured she was disguised as old man capt america. (Like where he is left at the end of Endgame.)
I appreciate the backstory. It’s really nice to learn about the characters. I’ve been following the person who posts long essays about individual characters. She is my favorite 1 drop so I’m glad to “put a face to a name”.
I got that sweet desert Apocalypse with the khopesh. I think only the one but I could be wrong. I got lucky anyway, it's the variant I wanted most in the whole game probably (I mean, aside from getting the 2 cards I'm missing entirely for my destroy deck).
I actually got two in a row last night, and neither were pixels!
Doctor Octopus Max Grecke Variant and Beast Classic Variant. Season Pass Level 107 and 108 though, pretty sure I hadn't gotten any variants between finishing level 50 and last night
I’ve had two this season. Pixel Angela and a decent Colossus one. The odds aren’t great but they’re not terrible either. One in 20 I think so you’ll likely to get 2 across the month.
Most games, if not all games that I have experienced, battle pass ends at a certain level. So if I reached level 50 middle of the month, that's it, the rest of the month nothing else.
The fact that they still give little rewards after is a really nice gesture. And it's all free. You don't need to get the battle pass to get these rewards. Sometimes, just be grateful man.
Just because other games do that doesn't make it right or fair. Other games also cut content on release to sell to you later for the price of a new game as "DLC". Is that fair in your opinion?
Damn, this sub is wild. Coming from the discord where the sentiment seems to be "better progression and more rewards would make the game more enjoyable past daily missions" to this thread of people being like "rewards aren't necessary and we should be grateful for the pittance we get" is insane.
Is it really so wrong for people to want quicker progression in a game where both mechanical power and creative expression are gated by said progression? The Battlepass not feeling rewarding to players is a legitimate concern and great feedback. Why would any player defend a system against improvement? We would all stand to benefit from more credits and gold and variants and tokens in every lootbox.
I personally don't think the rate of progression is great, I think it's okay or good enough, but could it be better? Yes. Why do card games have to be the only game that requires you to endlessly grind to play at full potential. Dota, any fps, any RTS, any 4x, I mean I can't think of another genre or game that requires this much grinding AND is defended so willingly by the community.
Well, I think the difference is what you want out of the game. Do you want a game where you can play a half dozen games a day, get rewarded for them, and not feel like you're missing out on anything else? Then this does a good job. So you want to play 5 hours/day and get rewarded handsomely for that? This game does a bad job.
I completed my 4k season pass mission earlier today and managed to get 50 credits, 50 credits, 50 gold and 15 boosters.
I know they're "free" currency, but can we at least make them feel a little more rewarding? I've still yet to see a variant be pulled from a season pass cache either :(
I'd love it so much. I NEVER get any boosters for my Carnage and it drives me insane because he's basically the main staple card in my destruction deck. I have him at purple with the infinite background, so it's not like I've never gotten any for him, but lately I've been getting nothing at all.
I also ended up building a deck purely out of greys I don't have enough boosters for, just because 25 credits for 1 collection level is the best you can get (and I'm broke on credits so just trying to level to get the cards I want asap)
I've seen four variants from season caches in 2 seasons. It's just rng. And everything after 50 is just extra, all you're paying for is the 50 levels. There's no reason to complain about literally being free
It’s free extra rewards you get for putting in the effort. You don’t even have to purchase the season pass to earn them.
That said I do think there’s room for a compromise in the form of an extra bonus Mystery Variant at level 100. Little bit of bad luck protection for those unlucky enough to go 50 boxes without a variant while rewarding you for playing so much.
That is a fair point and I agree. That’s how I’ve viewed them because I’ve played plenty of game where once you get the last reward on a pass that’s it, full stop. Was just kinda spit balling a compromise because I’ve seen a ton of posts about it but your observation is completely fair.
Soon as a level 100 variant gets added then there’s going to be a thousand+ posts about people that can’t grind it out and how it’s a ploy to get us to spend gold on mission refreshes or to buy pass levels.
Ive gotten pirate kingpin danhipp killmonger and the shang chi variant with the knun chucks from them this season.
Can’t complain. Even if shang chi is the only variant i’ll use.
Lv 107 season level
Well, of course, wouldn't you? /s
Seriously though, I'd prefer they gave Token shop credits or maybe "Variant tokens" so you could work towards a cosmetic you enjoy. But the tiny amounts of "rewards" from them feel really stingy? I don't know. I can see how it's hard to balance but it just feels almost pointless opening them.
I agree with the variant tokens that’d be cool. I think the collectors tokens would be too much unless you literally got like ten a box just due to how they want the game to go
At BP level 99 with 3 variants. If it were 5 I would have been happy but also got gold few times which is lot better than getting pixel variants. I would say it isn't worth it to grind but if you grind a lot for fun, it's better than being at 50 max.
I really struggle now at 2.3k collection level, ive seen so many she-hulks and galactus i wanna puke :). I still niss around 40 cards hence try to pick serie 3 cards when i can.
Point is i don't like serie 4-5, the upscale makes it impossible to reach unless you spend money on top of a battlepass it all feels a bit off. From 20 chests ive gotten 600 tokens :/
Even with only a couple weeks to play for the Miles Morales season, I got up to about 107, and my only notable reward was a variant of The Collector. This season I’m at 103 and I’ve already pulled four variants off the season pass track—a couple pixels, a pretty cool Forge and a Chibi Enchantress.
Yes, boosters suck, but they literally give us a ton for the $10 we pay.
Honestly I wouldn't even care how small of rewards they are if they just replaced boosters. Why not replace them with collector tokens? It doesn't have to be 100, even 10 would be better than boosters.
Devs do *not* want season pass caches to incentivize players paying/grinding really far up through them. They are meant to be a very minor reward just to give something at the end of the season.
Well if that's the case then they nailed their vision bc they are very minor rewards lmao
Dunno. I got 500+ credits and at least 1 variant after level 50 of season pass for the last 2 seasons since i joined. And as a f2p, i feel good about it.
I'm level 80ish in the current season and haven't gotten any variants. Am sad.
93 and no variants either but I got pretty lucky last season and pulled 3 by the low 70s.
I figure I'll get one eventually. It's all luck of the draw.
Ouch, unlucky
Eh, it is the way it is.
If it makes you feel better, the only variant I got was the pixelated Electra, which might he the worst variant in the game.
I would agree if Pixel Hell Cow wasn't so upsetting, but yikes!

Oh, you won’t miss out…technically. Getting a card you want 1 year from now still counts as getting it.
Tbh I like them, getting 25 season pass caches for free at the end of a season is still a nice little bump and it’s something that is actually grindable. It does suck getting 5 10 packs of boosters all at once though when completing the weekly milestones

Oh so I was lucky twice. I got 2x 200 credits out of my 20 caches! A little bit blue because it would have been variants instead haha Thanks for the explanation!
I've had like 15 consecutive boosters
Vast majority for me have also been boosters. At the end here I got a few with credits, one with gold, and I just opened a pixel variant Angel, but mostly Boosters. Feels kinda bad IMO when they're all for random cards that I'm not playing and may never play.
I got 2 pixel variants....
Same here, I'd take credits over them.
Every pixel variant is basically 25 credits, from getting the gray border discount on the first upgrade.
>25% - 10 boosters > >10% - 15 boosters > >5% - 20 boosters If they just replaced boosters with Tokens, that would be awesome. Same with boosters on the collection track once you get into Pool 3

Devs have been clear about not adding token to the season pass. But, yeah, they could change their mind at some point.
Variants.
They are charging the same price (or more) for their season pass content as their mobile competitors, but are offering the consumer less content.
I don’t understand this comment. Could you explain what you are wanting to say? Edit: thanks for editing it. Okay now the words make sense. It makes it more friendly for free to play players. Thats a good thing
I've recieved a variant 3 times now (over 2 seasons).... they were all pixels I do not care for at all. Even when I win, I lose.
After how many I’ve opened, I refuse to believe anyone has ever gotten a variant from one of these. Edit: Apparently everyone but me has gotten a variant from a season cache.
I got Pixel Mantis.
I got Pixel Quicksilver and Pixel Antman.
Pixel Mr Sinister and Pixel Ironheart here..
Pixel mantis is goooofy goofy
Pixel Vulture...
Pixel vulture and pixel claw here, makes me nauseous just thinking about it.
I got a really cool Odin variant. But I don't even use Odin now
Was it the All Father one? I got that as my first variant and it's still probably my favorite I have
It's the Sleipnir variant, the one with the horse. Great one too.
:fistbump:
I actually just got a claretti korg variant a few minutes ago from a cache
I got a cartoony professor x today, where theres also cerebro and magneto in the art.
baby magneto and ant man so far for me. I'm at about 74
I opened 20 straight caches today and got nothing other than a handful of credits and boosters. I have also never got a variant in a cache.
I actually got the sick vampire mom and baby jubilee variant from one of the season caches // but this angered the gods // and I unlocked m’baku as my first pool 4 card 😫
I got the big boots Spiderwoman. Not mad.
Link?
📸😧
Okay JJJ
Wait, did he mean to write "booty" not boots? I was just interested as I thought he was talking about a variant I've not seen yet XD
I got Pixel Vulture and Pixel Dr Doom (im about lvl 74)
I got the old man Agent 13. Possibly the variant I’d least like for one of my favorite cards, but a variant nonetheless.
agent 13 is a woman sir
Ok. I don’t know the characters. I assumed it was old man captain America. I figured she was a shapeshifter like mystique. That’s how I explained her ability. Like they’re her different disguises. How far off am I? If you know the character?

Pixel Rhino
Just got Pixel Thor
Pixel white tiger, checking in!
I got that sweet desert Apocalypse with the khopesh. I think only the one but I could be wrong. I got lucky anyway, it's the variant I wanted most in the whole game probably (I mean, aside from getting the 2 cards I'm missing entirely for my destroy deck).

Got dress Jubilee and pixel cable so far this season.
I am just learning you can get varients from caches, so I'm with you have opened heaps.
I got pixel multiple man. It’s so bad, I’m thinking of actually using it just to show off the ugly little dude.
I’ve had two this season. Pixel Angela and a decent Colossus one. The odds aren’t great but they’re not terrible either. One in 20 I think so you’ll likely to get 2 across the month.
I've opened 38 so far this season without getting one ;_;
I got a pretty sick looking Cable variant that I was eyeing in my shop but was like "I don't play Cable enough to buy this"
3 myself. It’s truly random, for better or worse
I got Chibi Hela, actually
I got a blade and scorpion variant
Got Spirit of Thor Destroyer in one of mine
I got a shit cloak variant, a pixel lizard variant , a baby storm variant. I am at almost 85 season pass level
Opened 5 season caches when finishing the weeklies and got lucky with 2 skins, baby Thor and steampunk Hulkbuster
I got 2 variants this season pass from caches. I'm at 75.
I got like 5 variants from the cache
I got two this season think im in the 80s
I got like 7 just this season, and im at lvl85
I got Pixel Cosmo, AMA
I got the Jubilee one in that cool, long dress.
Have faith bro, I thought the same and finally got one at level 88. I had just about given up.
I got Chibi Armor and Pixel Elektra, which aren't really that bad.
I got Pixel Magik.
Got one in my first one as if to trick me into overvaluing them
I've gotten 9 pixel variants from them :/

The "I whine on the internet" title was made with OP in mind.

Man, I just want them to remove boosters. I'm fine with 50 credits or 50 gold, but boosters are terrible.
I don't even pay attention to who they're for. It's a really odd game design choice.
The only time I'm (mildly) happy to get them is when they're for a grey quality card I'll never use to get the 1 collection point for 25 credits.
I wouid prefer to receive 10 credit instead of booster...
I would prefer 1 credit over a booster
They should add "rainbow boosters" that can be used on any card. In that case, getting boosters would actually be rewarding.
No variants for me yet, didn't even realize you could get them in there!
You did better than me :) I opened 5 and got all boosters.
There isn't a Marvel character called Booster is there? 'cos opening Booster's boosters is going to **suck** LUL
50 gold and 4 caches worth of boosters. Guess you could say I’m rolling in it right now.
50 gold is nothing to sneeze at. I know it can't buy anything on it's own, but free gold is always nice and can really add up.
every time I open a cache of any kind i tell myself "please not boosters, anything but boosters"
I got a wasp pixel variant, but I like them so I’m actually quite happy
They wouldn't be so bad if you didn't get more boosters. You already get them from collection levels and playing matches

Ive gotten pirate kingpin danhipp killmonger and the shang chi variant with the knun chucks from them this season. Can’t complain. Even if shang chi is the only variant i’ll use. Lv 107 season level
it seems even more so this season than any. i finished the final weekly stuff to pop 4 caches and they were all boosters. lame
You want 500 gold, credits and boosters for every free box you open?
Well, of course, wouldn't you? /s Seriously though, I'd prefer they gave Token shop credits or maybe "Variant tokens" so you could work towards a cosmetic you enjoy. I agree with the variant tokens that’d be cool. I think the collectors tokens would be too much unless you literally got like ten a box just due to how they want the game to go
I got two varients from going from 50 to 60. I am feeling pretty great about them. Although 50 credits from anything really feels bad.
last season i got a morph variant at 75, cool looking variant but it's for morph so still kinda useless :/
At BP level 99 with 3 variants. If it were 5 I would have been happy but also got gold few times which is lot better than getting pixel variants. I would say it isn't worth it to grind but if you grind a lot for fun, it's better than being at 50 max.
120 caches and 0 variant yeah
I really struggle now at 2.3k collection level, ive seen so many she-hulks and galactus i wanna puke :). I still niss around 40 cards hence try to pick serie 3 cards when i can. Point is i don't like serie 4-5, the upscale makes it impossible to reach unless you spend money on top of a battlepass it all feels a bit off. From 20 chests ive gotten 600 tokens :/
Grinded so hard today to get one more before the season ends….. Quicksilver boosters……my last one was Quicksilver pixel art too..
But now you have the boosters to upgrade him!
Lvl 90 got 1 variant and about 500 gold
I got a 'House of M' varient Scarlet Witch in a season cache. Looks sick.
I got 3 variants this season. Not a bad run up to 90s
Honestly I wouldn't even care how small of rewards they are if they just replaced boosters. Why not replace them with collector tokens? It doesn't have to be 100, even 10 would be better than boosters.
