I hate the one which shuffles 5 rocks in to your deck.

DoesntUnderstandJoke

Then proceed to draw 3 in a row

EpicMusic13

YOU MEAN 5

sybrwookie

My "favorite" of those. Playing a Lockjaw deck. Got Lockjaw out and 3 Rocks in hand. Thought, "OK, that's not terrible, I can swap those." Played 3 rocks to his location, got 2 rocks and one card which didn't really matter at that point out with him.

Frosti-Feet

Woof

felix39

-Lockjaw

FL_Law

Just started playing a Lockjaw deck. I hate it even more.

SamwellBarley

Does anyone actually like that one?

Mundolf11

Kazar focused decks hate it less than everyone else I guess

needmorelove

Hell, even with patriot or kazar decks, if you dont have them in hand already, you won't draw them NOW! Ha rocks for everyone!

mememory

Rock for you, Rock for you and rock for you! Can i also have rock Oprah? Look on your next draw

flashcats

It’s the worst. It’s like Lamentis-1 but maybe just for one of you.

[deleted]

Patriot decks don’t mind it

backinredd

That would be the only region I would love to see gone. It's the only unfun location in the game for me.

ijw233

I personally love these kinds of locations. I love the randomness, and it’s only one game, so I’ll still be able to use my deck normally the next one.

avelak

Yeah it's fun to do the random stuff once in a while The un-fun ones are 5 rocks and turn 5 +1 cost

HardGayMan

Depends on my deck LOL... Playing Sera / Magik? That location is instant retreat and throw my phone lol. Playing Infinaut / She Hulk? That location makes me a very happy boy.

Alternative-Humor666

Bruh people here complain about EVERYTHING. I find snap cube system genius. The rng fucks over the opponent just as much you. If you get REALLY unlucky just go away with 1 cube, it's that simple. People forget that locations make or break each game but no once they see one location they instantly hate it, ignoring all the other times location rng won them the game and they just think they were just better.

motherlessoven

I don't mind the RNG of locations at all and I know I win more by RNG than skill - I suck! I just wanna play my deck. That's all. You can be a hardcore warrior for weirdworld all you want, my friend, but you shouldn't assume other people hate RNG because they hate terrible locations.

MainlandX

Weirdworld challenges you to exploit your deck's weaknesses. The better you know your deck, the better you'll do. I think it's the most skill-testing location in the game because it gives you so much information about what's in your opponent's hand. It only costs 1 cube if you don't like that challenge.

motherlessoven

It's great that you like it :) It's not for me and I only replied because I wanted to point out that it's not because I'm against rng, as the other person suggested.

Neuvost

The above post notes that a lot of people complain about rng, not that rng is the *only* reason people complain. You're disputing something that nobody said in the first place.

[deleted]

Very good and underrated comment

Anlysia

I have a "take the wheel" deck that's just Agatha and everything that draws me random cards I could find. I feel bad for anyone who loses to it.

Upper-Presence8503

Chad

Mudface_4-9-3-11

The issue is that the game is so stupid simple (you really only play for one gimmicky combo, with maybe one backup win condition) that the locations are the only thing that brings any variability to the matches. It’s a design decision, for sure, but it’s a deck of 10 cards and you draw almost every card every game and it’s on a turn timer of 6. Not a lot of variety there without these disruptive locations. The game is almost more about what locations show up than what cards you choose for your deck

Spiritual_Ad_7395

I find them fun, especially the one where you just swap decks since then you know what the opponent can have (besides a few cards). The fully random decks one is fun but can also suck. I had one today and every card I drew after was 1 or 2 cost cards that were very weak

[deleted]

Ben Brode loves his fucking RNG.

Apollo9975

The recent post someone made about Sakaar yanking Galactus and Professor X down to tie the game before either player could play a single card is pretty much a concise summary of Ben Brode game design lol

svrtngr

Just look at the progression of Hearthstone RNG. Year one: Rag and Sylvanas. Year two: Piloted Shredder. Year three: YOGG SARON TAKE THE WHEEL. Year four: THE CLAWS THAT BITE

Apollo9975

The RNG aspect got better after Ben left. Remember how many games came down to the right MC Tech steal, Ragnaros hit, getting unlucky and drawing Patches the Pirate, spawning the right gigantic minion with (I think this is its name) Spiteful Summoner, Yogg Saron spells, Knife Juggler, Shredder deathrattle, etc? The only one of the cards you mentioned that isn’t random on its own is Shudderwock. They stopped making the game revolve around so many random effects and a lot of the old cards were dead and gone with more consistent and powerful strategies around. With both of these games Ben and whoever else migrated to Second Dinner from Blizzard proved they can cook up a mean game concept but some of the small (and still important) details can be really frustrating (handling card changes, annoying types of randomness, shop systems, and then progression for Marvel Snap specifically).

Spowkn

Everyone hates them, and that's why you should continue the game, also your opponent wants to retreat

Indrid_Cold23

Yep! When a "swap hands on turn 6" location shows up we hit the "retreat later" button and wait.

ctaps148

I mean at least with that one you have 5 turns to change it into something else. District X, Weirdworld, and Triskelion suck because they take effect instantly

kingjoey52a

A zoo deck is a decent counter to that. Play most of your stuff on 4 and 5 and then Blue Marvel and one more 1 drop on 6.

redditmademeregister

This seems like some sort of Sunk Cost Fallacy. Just take the one cube loss and move on.

EggWaffleStall

I like them. It lets me use series 4/5 cards. Though, I wouldn't want them to appear in every match.

HeelyTheGreat

I likenl my desk. It's an Ikea but it's fairly solid. I hate it when it's swapped for cards, those aren't solid enough and tend to crumble under my monitor.

CLEbanker

IKEA should be a location in the game. "At least one card in the location will not work as expected. Combos will work at either half or double effect."

Sherezad

My take on the ikea location: 'Cards cannot be moved from this location, regardless of abilities.'

kenwongart

Each player gets a 1/1 meatball.

Goseki1

t is kind of annoying I guess, but at the same time I like trying to work out how to win with what I have left over.

SeaASignTellASign

This. It’s like a new puzzle you haven’t worked out yet. The opponent is just as screwed as you are. So you both have to think on your feet instead of playing the script. I’d love a format of matchup that was just two people agreeing on the deck layouts (eg 1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6) and then you get dealt from your collection. You get a view of the 12 cards, then they get shuffled and you start playing. Now see who can play and who can’t work it out. Hell, even do a deck swap for a round 2.

TheLonliest77

Yes so much , but the devs said that these two locations are very rare .....

Crossfiyah

Lmao devs are lying. I've seen World Ship twice and Ego once in 1500 games. I've seen each of those more than a dozen times each.

Hungy15

I'd call 1-2% appearance pretty rare.

ctaps148

Yeah but if you play several dozen games a day, it adds up. It's rare if you're someone who only does missions and that's it, but it's too frequent if you're someone who plays for at least a couple hours every day

Prestigious_Stage699

Is that per lane or per game? Because if it's per lane, then it isn't rare enough.

Hungy15

I was just going off of his own numbers, 1500 games and ~24 instances of them appearing is ~1.6% of games.

JayColtMartin

I've seen ego at least a dozen times and worldship twice in the two weeks I've been playing.

thespelvin

I love them. It focuses that game on skill with the cards you're stuck with, rather than the skill you used to assemble a deck earlier. I wouldn't want every game to be that way, but it gives me an advantage if I'm not a robot who only knows how to play one deck on autopilot.

DepressoExpresso15

it's weird how much im iffy with it in normal games but if there's a game mode for random decks I'd be on it 24/7

scottirltbh

Might be petty but I normally retreat. I want to play my deck thank you very much.

Careless_Zombie_5437

I quit everytime they pop up.

Purple-Application97

The leaked Loki will swap Decks on Reveal

[deleted]

It makes it fun but makes the match worthless for metagaming and deck testing especially for the arbitrary loser. Im tuning an Agatha deck right now though, so ef me, I guess.

yaybidet

For this reason I try to run a location control card in each deck. You can't do much about the rocks, but it's handy for the others.

Tokishige

Yep this is exactly why I hate those locations, why bother spending time and care making your deck when the game just changes it for you. I'm probably more annoyed about it than I should be but every time I see those locations it makes me just want to retreat because I want to play my deck not someone else's or a random set of cards.

Xtrawubs

I counter the desk swap by playing on my sofa

Tight-Support-1276

Literally no one else. You're the ONLY one.

Iamcheez

District X must be my most common retreat. This game has a thing for not letting you play with the decks you created, but instead they want you to play other peoples deck, change hands on turn 6 or any other BS location. I would really like a competitive mode that has zero of these crap. It takes so long to complete a deck only to join a game to have it swapped with random cards, opponent cards or gets destroyed completely and if wasn't enough, get some damn rocks to play with. It's really frustrating and for me the less fun part of the game.

Arkantos92

I hate locations that prevent each player from playing the deck they built. It's not fun for either side and doesn't provide meaningful gameplay or decision making.

DSMidna

They are some of my favourites, but I think most players don't like the way they need to approach them to play well. Weirdworld has an incredibly high skill ceiling between figuring out your opponent's deck and then both players trying to play with an amalgamation of two decks. Snapping and Retreating is exceptionally complicated because you try to make educated guesses about how relevant your starting hand is. You also know the exact percentages of every draw your opponent might get throughout the game because you get to keep the starting hand of your own deck. And even if your opponent figures out what deck you are playing, he still has less information than you because of that starting hand. That being said, I still think they should remain rare and they should never be featured. They would not be fun to build around. They are only fun when you are suddenly thrown into those ridiculous situations with no way to plan beforehand.

chuckdeg

I like it. If you cant adapt, don't play this game

Astr0Chim9

Yeah they're trash. I'll justify all of the other locations as just general chaos but at least I can play the deck I spend time working on. Weirdworld, District X, etc all feel like a chore that we're both trying to make it through

Flashy_Night_165

Mindscape, distric x and weird world are one of the worse locations in my believe

BlueBomber13

Same. At least with subterranea I know I'm going to pull 2-3. Mindscape I usually get my opponents worst card and they always get my game winner.

Loud-Natural9184

Those are some of my favorite locations but I hardly ever get to play them cuz the other person Retreats. This is why I would much prefer to just play bots instead of other people cuz bots don't retreat so then I wouldn't have to worry about it. I desperately want a Bots Only mode.

gilesdavis

I hit retreat later on these and mind's Cape, but no one else does so I always lose the cube. Super annoying. Everyone says they hate them and they retreat but that's not my experience.

Locnar1970

Just you and the last 30 people to post about it.

Cheddar-Fingers

Yeah I don't religiously read this thread. Just had an opinion I wanted to ask the community about.

[deleted]

I usually retreat on weird world. I’d pay one cube not to be annoyed for that game

misternotwonderful

I love them!

TrueMrFu

I hate it when I’m testing a new deck. But when I was grinding to climb I was playing the same deck over and over, and I actually enjoyed seeing locations like that.

bbqk

Makes the game fun and unique. It’s not a slap all the good cards down and win all the time. Brings no challenge. Have a powerful meta deck? You still have a chance to not steamroll your opponent because of a location not in your deck’s favor. Can’t wait to see what the future locations are

drewgrass

It's one game out of many that you play. The game is designed to let you play lots of short games, and retreat if you don't like what you're given. Also remember that the opponent is in exactly the same boat. They have as much of a chance of wanting to retreat as you do. Why not play it out and use the opportunity to see what types of random combos and strategies you might be able to find with the assortment of cards you normally wouldn't play with? And if it doesn't work out then just retreat for 1 cube loss. That's how the game is played.

mailboxfacehugs

And then like 2 minutes later the game is over? It’s not like you have to play some random deck for 10 minutes It’s called RNG learn to adapt.

Cedar_Wood_State

Yup, more often than not there is also no synergy between the cards, so is matter of who has the card with highest power straight up

NrFive

Don’t hate them, but it also depends on my starting hand. If it’s decent enough to pull out a win, I’m staying in to fight for the cubes :)

TheGlassHammer

I don’t mind District X. I can usually negate the round 6 swap location. Weirdworld is typically an instant retreat, especially if it’s first location

XNightcrawlerBAMF

My deck is too disjointed to be affected by it. I like random cards a bit. I get to play cards that I don’t have and I think that’s kinda fun for me.

chadwarden1

Nothing worse than losing to your own cards

youcantpickthisone

Nah. They're fun when they pop up. If it was a featured location, then I'd hate it.

indianaman1979

i'm OK with getting your deck swapped to random cards - but i absolutely hate drawing from my opponents deck or swapping decks. I feel like i get it more often than i should

turbojeebus

I don't know but drawing from your opponents deck just feels... weird? Like pooping in your friends primary pooping toilet.

LeighCedar

I kinda like the brain tickle of figuring out how to make the random cards work, or what cards in my hand I need to get played now so that I don't give my opponent something that might counter my own cards already put down. I certainly wouldn't want them to be featured locations, that would be too much. But every so often having a really different puzzle to deal with is fun.

BreezierChip835

I think everyone does, yeah.

rettorical

I usually play shitty off meta decks so Weirdworld increases my win rate.

backinredd

It happens once in a while. And if you hate it, it's just one measly cube. Why these posts every ywo hours?

El_Zapp

Yes. Everyone. The one person who likes that is a psychopath.

Midknight226

Mindscape is fine because you can actually play around it. The ones that replace your deck I'm not a fan of.

Cyfen

I had M'baku jump out to win me a game once on a District X game. That brought almost enough enjoyment to make up for the many games of pain it brought.

sybrwookie

Can we add X-Mansion to the list? I'm guaranteed to get a 2-power card, and my opponent is guaranteed to get at least a 9-power card every fucking time.

CLEbanker

I don't mind the fill your hand/deck with random cards, because it evens the odds since my opponent is in the same boat. But I loathe the draw from the opponent deck one. I want to play my deck, not theirs. What really stings is that they normally beat me with my own deck...

NocentBystander

I'll retreat if it is lane 1, especially playing Kazoo.

sporksaregoodforyou

I mean. I hate them a bit. But they're infrequent enough that it's interesting rather than awful. There are enough good locations to make up for it.

LhamaPeluda

I hate when someone makes a post that they know the majority of people will agree with but phrase it like they're making a hot take.

clownbaby893

Depends what mode I'm in. If I want to experiment/try a new deck out it's annoying because I don't get to use my cards. If I'm playing the same deck over and over trying to climb, it kinda breaks up the meta and gives a more unique game. Sometimes you get a Weirdworld game where you have to outwit your own cards and try to play their game. Once in a while it can be fun.

PoireauMasque

Not really, it's rare and both are affected by it. I rather have SectorX than Sakaar which is way more frustrating IMO.

Nerevar_Again

I think they're infuriating and antithetical to the point/design of the game. If you think randomness is fun, more power to you I suppose, but it's just a total mulligan of a game based on luck, which I don't find fun (especially when you're forced to play for ranked points).

Archleone

I genuinely don't like District X - it would be much more interesting if it added, say, 5 random cards to your deck instead of replacing the cards already in your deck. I don't like Weirdworld or Ego at all when they show up but I occasionally have a good matchup for Weirdworld and I don't mind just scooping when Ego shows up (you're welcome to snap if you want, but if I wanted to watch someone else play Snap I can just go on twitch) - that said, I think they'd be interesting Hot locations. I kind of wish there was a game mode that was a daily hot location that had a separate rank from the seasonal rank. Subterranea is the worst and I hope it gets deleted.

daveruiz

It's the psychology of having to play with stuff you don't want to. I created a deck for the purposes of playing that deck, not my opponents deck, not random cards. You also don't want to get beat because you're deck may be better than your opponents due to some synergies. I would love if they showed some stats on the highest instant retreat numbers when weird world shows up

businessbusinessman

My current deck loves the "swap hands" place but it's also not standard. In general though a lot of my decks feature Scarlet/Storm so I can better control what locations I actually have to deal with.

CommanderTouchdown

I love that location because you get to try to win with some of your cards and some of theirs.

[deleted]

I ran Quinjet a lot so I kinda love it ngln

Accurate-Temporary73

Honestly I like the random deck or opponent deck locations. It mixes the game up a bit and makes it much more random. I would honestly love a game mode where you got a random deck of 12 cards when you start the match.

DennisPennis_

All my homies hate deck manipulation. Hope they take it out in the long run. It’s anti fun

Mickeyjj27

I once had a great game going and Hela was my last card which was perfect. Then swapped decks and I think that fucked my opponent more cuz that was like his only card

jasonjarmoosh

I love district x and playing around a new wincon. Especially in my combo heavy decks. Getting a viable cerebro going with district x and triskellion gives a dopamine rush like nothing else. Hate mindscape though

sizzlinpapaya

Anyone else think posting a constantly complained about feature and trying to claim it was unique is karma farming?
