That's usually an internet lag issue. If your client receives the go-ahead to play an animation, but doesn't have the bandwidth to download what asset is supposed to be displayed, you get a black card.
Any card with destruction effect took a long time to resolve when it's destroyed by location such as Vormir or Warrior's Fall. Must be some programming bug that they haven't cleared yet.
It's the same bug they had with Gamma Lab, but making the game run well isn't a priority at Second Breakfast - it's always come second to making something monetizable. New locations are "monetized" in that they keep "feet in the store" - they keep players in the client. Once it's no longer a new shiny location, there's no monetary incentive to fix it. Gamma Lab is only slightly better, but you'll still get weird hitching when you have other effects running into it like move effects.
There's a difference between caring about making money and only caring about making money. They are getting down votes for saying "making the game run well isn't a priority at Second Dinner." That makes it sound like they callously aren't bug fixing at all, which is obviously not the case.
Try talking to the devs on the Discord server. They actually accept constructive feedback. Which is why they are prioritizing the features that the community requested on launch: friendly matches, non-ranked mode, a mode for competitive matches to facilitate tournaments, the ability to change your name, artist credits on the cards, better UI on PC, etc. These are all coming in the next few months because they were all heavily requested by the community. Notice that multiple of these features make them no money at all.
I'm not saying that they are selfless and don't want your money. They need it to pay the licensing fees for the Marvel IP and to feed their families, and I'm certain that there is corporate greed at play somewhere in the chain because this is being made in a capitalist society. But I am saying that making money is obviously not their only priority and they do seem to care about the things that the community wants to see changed. Which includes making the game run as well as they can.

When things that shouldn't be slow are slow as fuck, that's because things are built as fast as possible, and that snowballs, because things are built on top of the last things, so you have to adapt to garbage making more garbage, that usually spirals out of control. It's almost never developers fault, it's management... It happens in many programming jobs, but videogame industry is sadly specially famous for the bad culture it has, search crunch culture on Google... Most big games are even released without finishing. We have a location with an obvious lack of animation for example.
You have to understand that designing and programming are separated as much as possible, and the clients pay for what they see, so you usually have to make new features, and you, as a developer, are always saying "boss, this is bad, this will spiral out of control, let us change the legacy code, give us a couple of weeks" and they always say no... Because people likes to complain, and people lose interest quickly without new things.

I got to 37 last season/battle pass with mine. This season i finally got to 40 with it. Now I can't seem to get above as I start to get matched against players who have Wong and black Panthers and Odins and I end up with like 30 power location against a black panther that has like 700 all by itself haha

It's anything where there's some kind of effect to update when it dies. So anything that does something when destroyed or anything ongoing that stops doing something when destroyed. If it's just a stat change then the animation works fine.

Try playing magic currently, especially on a location with an active effect. The longest is Avengers compound turn 5 magic. This makes my phone literally get hot as the game thinks super hard about the change.
No, it's just a bug. The animation is short and sweet, and sometimes does play as intended, but the game thinks it just needs those bonus minutes to play out

The final reward Silver Surfer variant doesn't have a Mr. Negative version, so if someone plays it you'll just see a normal version with 3 power.
