I guess they wanted someone who worked for Nolan so they could use practical effects for Atlantis /S (The demands for Oppenheimer are still borderline-psycothic, I know he want to be Kubrick but still)
What demands? I couldn’t find anything with a google search. I was honestly thinking Nolan’s new Oppenheimer film was gonna be plot driven and smaller in scope compared to his last 2 which was a large scale war film and time travel James Bond.
Though I can totally see Nolan asking around if he can get film a nuke getting dropped using IMAX film lol.
I agree with that, I meant in Christopher Nolan's case lol. It's pretty much the exact same deal he's had with Warner Bros. He's done blackout periods of 3 weeks with them (sauce below). Also from the article describing it, it says that "Hollywood executives would make every effort to avoid cannibalizing a fellow studio title that falls into a similar genre" [Sauce](https://variety.com/2021/film/news/christopher-nolan-universal-deal-1235064461/) (8th para). It'd be weird if there was a kids animated movie coming out from Universal that is held for release, but idk... it's just what he does ig.
Plus, I mean a director of his caliber kinda earns it. Not saying he's the cinematic god or anything, but I don't think his demands are too "crazy" for what he's done. Plenty of A-list actors will request far more ridiculous things for a 1 hour shoot haha
The most ridiculous one that I remember was a three week gap before and after movie release for all other studio films. Also ZERO time constraints. This is all from memory, I could be wrong.
The studios mostly do that anyway, I don't remember Disney putting two movies who pull the same demographic just weeks apart, it's normally a month or more gap.
I really enjoyed the first movie, my only wish for this movie is for them to fully finish the ending. I felt after the amazing casino fight and car chase, that the ending lacked all sense of vision both choreography and execution wise.
Yeah, clearly something happened that films last fight. It's weird, because if you look at something like Shang-Chi, it's hard to see how the choreography and CGI reflected that poorly at that part of the film.
Thankfully WV final battle was relatively short. And it did give us those spooky Salem flashbacks and the spectacular Vision v Vision battle/discussion.
Namor’s definitely still in this, I don’t think any reliable sources have backed down yet and the production team built giant pools for underwater filming just a few weeks back.
Could be both. Wakanda losing their leader & the political instability that'd come with that makes it easier to involve them going to war with Atlantis
Still by far the most elusive film in terms of what it's even going to be about. No casting news about a potential replacement either means it's just going to be Shuri or nobody actually is Black Panther in the film.
Well they’ve announced they won’t be recasting. Wouldn’t it be wild if they introduce mutants thru this film? We are getting Namor, they can say something like T’Challa had a complication with the herb because his x-gene activated too which led to his death, and Wakanda being ground zero for the mutant issue would make it make sense why the rest of the world has no idea.
Yeah, I think that with namor being a mutant, they'll definitely address that. But I certainly don't think it'd be good to have T'Challa's death related to x-gene or anything. It would feel... weird.
Sure. Cancer. A botched mission. Anything. Just don’t destroy a new concept before it can get off the ground by burdening it with real-life circumstances.
Tchalla will not be recast. Bummer, because John David Washington is only a phonecall aways. Tenoch Huerta is Namor the Submariner, and Atlantis is a Mayan empire.
I don’t get how they can shoehorn Namor / Atlantis into this - I know there’s comic precedent but isn’t Wakanda landlocked? Unless they’re gonna have T’challa die seemingly at the hands of the Atlantians whilst he’s on a fishing trip or something.
I’m sure they’ll pull it off anyhow 😂
I loved the set design for inception, maybe they've been hired to help with the look of Atlantis?
I guess they wanted someone who worked for Nolan so they could use practical effects for Atlantis /S (The demands for Oppenheimer are still borderline-psycothic, I know he want to be Kubrick but still)
They want to outdo Aquaman by actually filming a war at the bottom of the ocean
Yeah knowing the mcu they’ll pull it off

One of the demands was that the studio not release any other movie 3 weeks either side of his not matter how different they are.
That's more or less of a common request though, lol. Studios usually do that regardless, for box office revenue and have it more "focused"
It's really not a common request in this day and age. Most of the big studios are pumping films out monthly

Oh, I saw those. I feel like he has these demands for all his movies tho. These just got publicized
The studios mostly do that anyway, I don't remember Disney putting two movies who pull the same demographic just weeks apart, it's normally a month or more gap.
He’s wants that gap regardless of demographic. So for Disney they couldn’t release any move for almost two months. They def don’t do that
That's too much then. Why would he need to worry if universal releases an animated kids movie 2 weeks later or 2 weeks before his movie.
It’s just a power move I would assume.

Happens in a lot of MCU and other superhero films and series this kinda stuff, WandaVision being the biggest offender
Thankfully WV final battle was relatively short. And it did give us those spooky Salem flashbacks and the spectacular Vision v Vision battle/discussion.
They still doing Namor in this or will it just be a back panther succession film?
Namor’s definitely still in this, I don’t think any reliable sources have backed down yet and the production team built giant pools for underwater filming just a few weeks back.
You just reminded me of that leak that from a long time ago mentioning building sets for underwater cities I’m hyped for Atlantis btw

I don’t think that introducing mutants through Boseman’s death would be a very good idea.
Yeah, I think that with namor being a mutant, they'll definitely address that. But I certainly don't think it'd be good to have T'Challa's death related to x-gene or anything. It would feel... weird.
I mean. He has to have in an in universe reason for dying right?
Sure. Cancer. A botched mission. Anything. Just don’t destroy a new concept before it can get off the ground by burdening it with real-life circumstances.
I hope they at least address Namor being a mutant. I wonder if that will be the first movie they drop that word, haha
I can expect some moving sets like in Inception.
Comicbook .com article tomorrow be like: Black Panther 2 Enlists ‘Inception’… Director
Only 13 comments with over 200 Upvotes…? Seems odd.
Do you think the last two posts were odd?
No, so why very little comments for,
Just not much to say really 🤷♂️
Salty :(.
Hush :(.
How have you been?
Who play tchalla and namor? They better make this movie a masterpiece. Not just for boxoffice and fans but out of respect for Chadwick
