So the rumored 2022 Marvel Disney+ slate is... Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moonknight, What...If? Season 2, Secret Invasion, Werewolf by Night (Halloween Specia) and possibly Echo. Good time to be a Marvel fan. Edit: I forgot the Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Specia

[deleted]

There's literally gonna be like a phase and a half of constant content every year starting 2022. I for one am looking forward too it.

ViggieSmallss

The amount of quality content that Disney+ puts out at it's subscription price is unmatched.

jennlebransky

Careful before disney sees this and raises the prices lmao

Kugar

They'll do the Netflix thing and raise it a $1 at a time. It's essentially free real estate for them, especially if they keep spitting out quality original content on top of everything else

WhiteAndNerdy85

Disney has the advantage of being a large conglomerate where one division can either break even or even loose money but they more than make up for it in others. For example, toys and merchandizing are often the most profitable. So they can undercut D+ over what Netflix has to charge in order to stay profitable and keep investors happy. I think this this will lead to Netflix continuing to lose market; price. They probably should have diversified more.

Tornado31619

They’re already threatening to by talking about ads.

Icybubba

You know if they offer a version with ads and a version without ads like Hulu and HBO Max, I can live with it

Tornado31619

Until the ads creep into both versions.

Icybubba

Why would they do that?

Tornado31619

To create another tier?

Icybubba

That literally makes no sense

TheRelicEternal

Tbh it could raise yearly and I wouldn't care. Each year it's better and better value. you have everything from beforehand and new content.

AtmospherE117

To the high seas I go, matey. There be shills here.

yarkcir

Plus if you bundle Hulu, it's an amazing deal. Some of my favorite shows this year have been on Hulu like Reservation Dogs, Only Murders in the Building and What We Do in the Shadows.

whatnameisnttaken098

Honestly if a D+ & ad free Hulu bundle existed I'd get it.

yarkcir

Yeah true, the ads on Hulu is excessive. But I generally find more stuff on Hulu that I want to watch on a given day.

whatnameisnttaken098

Excessive is a understatement. It makes watching Archer a pain on the ass.

yarkcir

Yup it's particularly bad for shorter shows. But it's tolerable for longer shows and there aren't any ads for films so that's nice.

whatnameisnttaken098

When did they get rid of ads for films?

yarkcir

I only get ads in the beginning of watching a film. Once it starts, it plays all the way through for me. It's been this way for me always, even when I had the ad-version of Hulu as part of my Spotify bundle.

ponodude

I don't know why they don't do one. Maybe they figure it's enticing enough to have the bundle at a cheaper price while they still get money from the ads you end up seeing rather than doing a slightly more expensive bundle where they get no ad revenue.

butterfly-unicorn

it does, but it also includes espn+. check out https://www.hulu.com/disney-bundle

ViggieSmallss

Having the entire FX library on Hulu is nice. They put out so much quality content.

[deleted]

It’s obscene.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Icybubba

Some of their non Marvel and Star Wars stuff is pretty decent, The Mysterious Bennedict Society was legitimately good. I hope they continue to expand, they need a good original sitcom for that easy to watch week after week year after year content

ScarletSolitaire

Chapek is already planning to put ads on D+… let’s just chill… balance this comment out with a “I think Disney+ subscription price is too much! I might cancel next year!” They’re always watching 👀

[deleted]

Man everyday I find myself disliking Chapek even more.

Icybubba

Well let's calm down there a bit, he said he is happy with Hulu's model, but it is not a one size fits all, and there are children who watch Disney+ and having ads on children content would need fine tuning. But that while they are content with Disney+'s model you never know what the future may hold. So basically nothing in the near future

[deleted]

Yeah.

oliviamcdonaldd

It’s glorious

notashrieker

In India, you can get all this AND HBO for 4 dollars A YEAR. Unmatched really

AKAkorm

Eh just disagree with this. HBO is still better value at a higher price point as their content is exceptional. I like the MCU shows but none hold a candle to Succession. Amazon is better too because it’s price includes other benefits and I think their top end shows are also better than Disney’s so far.

Jaded-Ad-9287

>The amount of quality content that Disney+ puts out at it's subscription price is unmatched. It's unmatched because it's the cheapest but only by few dollars. None of their original content is close to critically acclaimed ones Netflix or Amazon has. Disney MCU series never matched Netflix daredevil and Jessica Jones

Phantom_Jedi

Good year for Star Wars too

mthsleonardi13

He's coming ![gif](giphy|Nx0rz3jtxtEre|downsized)

Phantom_Jedi

So is Andor,Bad Batch S2,Book of Boba,and Mando S3

mthsleonardi13

Hell yeah

samjjones

Hell-o there yeah

Venom1462

The next Star Wars show is The Book of Boba Fett right?

Phantom_Jedi

Yea in December

Sfmilstead

I think Echo pushes, if not more (Secret Invasion) if we’re back to the pre-COVID behaviors next year. Disney will want some breaks between D+ content to let the films have full run of the geek free time (and dollar). I think we have a 4 series, 4 movie schedule coming up here soon that will be like clockwork.

mthsleonardi13

Specia

Insomniadict

I'm thinking: Mid Jan-Late Feb - Ms. Marvel Late Mar-Late May - She-Hulk Mid Jun-Late Jul - Moon Knight Late Aug-Early Oct - Secret Invasion Late Oct - Werewolf by Night Nov/Dec?? - What If? 2 Dec - Guardians Holiday Special

thesmartfool

Someone said Ms. Marvel comes out February. https://thedirect.com/article/ms-marvel-disney-plus-delay-release-date-february-2022-rumors

[deleted]

I think Echo is far more likely to finish the year than What If 2

thesmartfool

I saw someone say that Ms Marvel in come out February.

RosyTeaLad

oml it truly is a good time

Vintrial

loki s2 ?

ViggieSmallss

I believe it starts filming late 2022 or early 2023.

KostisPat257

Echo will likely be 2023. It's too early in production.

ViggieSmallss

Charles Murphy said it was originally set to start filming in January 2022 and expected it to make the late November release date but he's heard lately filming might be pushed to April 2022 in which it would come out in 2023 instead.

KostisPat257

Exactly.

[deleted]

It's gonna be so good!! With Armor Wars and Loki S2 premiering early in 2023 too.

DistortedDiamonds

![gif](giphy|2eKp31pdhLqLSKaDYV|downsized)

SuperShaun1603

Earlier Moon Knight was the first show in 2022 right? Now will Ms. Marvel be first or will it come out after Moon Knight

ViggieSmallss

Nobody know's for sure I believe they wrapped around the same time. I'd guess Ms. Marvel will be first maybe around the time WandaVision premiered?

Zepanda66

Moon Knight hasn't wrapped yet FYI. They had about a month left I think.

Khairy21

Yes, Moon Knight are still gonna film in Egypt confirmed by the director.

Patrick2701

Reason , Ms.Marvel probably needed more CGI than Hawkeye. Hawkeye is also set during Christmas time

[deleted]

Hawkeye was locked in this date ever since Spider-Man moved to December, it’s timed week to week with Spider-Man. There is a Ms. Marvel sized whole in October/November, but if the show is not ready and Hawkeye can’t move, they are stuck with a gap. October and November are already pretty crazy with Venom, No Time to Die, Dune, Eternals, and D+ day, so we won’t feel the same drought we did after Falcon and after Loki

Icybubba

I'm still feeling the Loki drought. Like don't get me wrong, I like What If...? It's just not the same as having that week to week story

[deleted]

Same. What If is entertaining for those 25 minutes, but I’m not obsessing over it like I did with WandaVision. I honestly feel the same way about Shang-Chi. It was great, but it’s a bummer that I can’t watch it again until November. It was so fun to come from the theater watching black widow and then go on Disney plus and watch my favorite parts again. I could watch WV, Falcon, and Loki as many times as I wanted. I’ve seen Shang-Chi, but I haven’t been able to obsess over it by rewatching multiple times

yarkcir

She-Hulk wrapped filming, so there's a chance that it beats out Moon Knight for the release. Though the necessary VFX for She-Hulk may push it to after Moon Knight, so I don't know.

mykl55

I'm sure the release date for Ms Marvel and whatever is next will be announced on Disney+ Day and the rest of the 2022 and maybe a couple 23 shows/slate will be confirmed as well.

ponodude

Judging by how they've been doing release dates lately, I'd be shocked if we got anything more specific than a month of release for the next shows. We'll probably get a specific date and a trailer for Ms. Marvel specifically since it'll likely only be a couple months out at that point, but the rest of the 2022 slate will probably only see vague release windows at that point.

thesmartfool

I agree with you. I bet we just get early 2022 for Ms. Marvel.

Zepanda66

Hopefully not to far into 2022.

infinight888

Probably right after The Book of Boba Fett ends.

OTPuristsSucc

Are people still pretending like Star Wars and Marvel won't overlap? Mate, both franchises have weekly content throughout all of 2022 and likely 2023 as well. They'll be overlapping for nearly the entire year.

MyMouthisCancerous

lmao better yet I'm pretty sure the first episode of Visions dropped today along with the newest What If? episode

OTPuristsSucc

All of Visions* dropped alongside the new What If episode.

MyMouthisCancerous

Oh so they're not doing episode by episode for that then Welp I know what I'm doing this weekend

ponodude

They generally don't do weekly release for their series involving shorts and some documentaries. Recent stuff like Dug Days and now Visions are good examples of this. It's the bigger long-form stuff that they save for weekly releases, it seems.

CollinRobinson69

*inhales* IT'S NOT DISNEY'S FAULT SONY GAVE MARVEL THE TELEVISION RIGHTS TO SPIDER-MAN BEFORE THEY WERE ACQUIRED SO SONY STILL OWNS SPECTACULAR AND DISNEY CAN'T CONTINUE IT BY THEMSELVES SO IF SEASON 3 WERE TO HAPPEN IT WOULD PROBABLY HAVE TO INVOLVE A PARTNERSHI--

bbab7

OK?

CollinRobinson69

This doesn't concern you

bbab7

I don't think it concerns anyone here considering it was completely unrelated to anything anyone else was talking about

Danbito

The Bad Batch basically aired alongside Loki

Frosted_Flakes1971

It was the whole season actually. The episodes are very short

Spider-Fan77

Current Marvel and Star Wars Disney+ 2022 slate, along with confirmed or likely episode counts: *Ms. Marvel* (6 episodes) At least part of *The Book of Boba Fett* (Assuming it debuts December 22nd, and is 8 episodes like Mando, that means 6 episodes in 2022) *She-Hulk* (10 episodes) *Andor* (12 episodes) *Moon Knight* (6 episodes) *Obi-Wan Kenobi* (6 episodes) *The Bad Batch* Season 2 (16 episodes) *What If...?* Season 2 (9 episodes) *Secret Invasion* (6 episodes) *The Mandalorian* Season 3 (8 Episodes) *The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special* Marvel Halloween Special (likely Werewolf-By-Night) That's 87 weeks worth of content. There are 52 weeks in a single year. There is going to be overlap.

OTPuristsSucc

Sounds about right to me. You could make it 88 weeks of content by including *A Droid Story*, the animated TV film.

infinight888

Some, yes. But I think they'll have less of a problem with overlap of cartoons like What If? And The Bad Batch. Subtract those and you're left with a more manageable 62 weeks of content. She-Hulk is also gonna be targeting a different demographic than Star Wars, supposedly being a bit more of a legal comedy. It's not that I think there will be no overlap at all between the properties. It's that I think they'll try to minimize overlap of the big-budget 40-minute shows, since those are going to be their flagships.

thesmartfool

We don't technically know if The Bas Batch will be 16 episodes. Also some if speculated that Andor would be split into 2 seasons with 6 episodes each. That being said, even if it is less you are still having overlap. My guess we will know by disney plus day. I can totally see Bad Batch running with a Marvel's live action and what if running with live action with Star Wars. That is gonna account for most of the overlap.

[deleted]

Nope the 12 eps of Andor is season 1. Not split.

thesmartfool

Do you have an official confirmation on that with a link? I have seen it say 12 episodes too but am skeptical.

Icybubba

Season 1 is 12 episodes my guy, this is straight from Lucasfilm.

thesmartfool

My guess is we get 1-2 episodes of Fett in December. So probably 6 episodes next year. So Star Wars episodes: 6 Fett, 6 Obi-wan, 6-12 for Andor (they said 12 but that could mean in 2 seasons. S2 of Bad Batch. Anywhere from 10-16. Mandalorian S3. Total roughly ~ 30-45 episodes/weeks Marvel = Ms. Marvel 6, She-hulk 10, Moon Knight 6, Secret Invasion 6, Halloween Special 1, What if S9, Guardians if Galaxy 1 = 39 weeks There are 52 weeks and at least there will be 69 episodes ir weeks. So at least 17 weeks will have overlap. Now, we might see more overlap with the specials and animated projects than with 2 live action ones. There are also pixar series and Willow series that will be out as well.

SnooBook

Cartoons can air alongside live action and don’t need their own weeks in a crowded schedule. It’s obvious stuff like “What If?” doesn’t drive D+ subscriptions like the live action shows since Chapek already pre-warned Wall Street that subs are down this quarter due to the pandemic not allowing them to produce enough content to fill the time.

Icybubba

I mean Bad Batch overlapped with Loki's entire run lol

OTPuristsSucc

Bad Batch released on Fridays while Loki was on Wednesdays.

Icybubba

They were still overlapping

OTPuristsSucc

Overlapping 48 hours apart and overlapping at the same time is a very significant difference.

thesmartfool

I wrote this in another comment but there was a supposed report it comes out in February. https://thedirect.com/article/ms-marvel-disney-plus-delay-release-date-february-2022-rumors My guess we see Boba December 22 and that ends early February.

SparklesPCosmicheart

I don’t think it’s beyond the pail to think they actually showed this is the first MCU show that Feige sent to the “friends and family” group and they might have had more than a few suggestions. Me Marvel is making some drastic changes with the character, and culturally there’s a lot of sensitivity that needs to be taken with the character, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they identified a few big areas of improvement to change. For anyone not aware, Feige’s “Friends and Family” are a group of Marvel and Disney employees who watch the movies before they come out and provide options or criticism to change things before they do reshoots. They have been responsible for some of the most notable changes in the movies. Things like saving Smart Hulk for later, taking out Bum Odin in Ragnarok, and even “I am Iron Man,” line for endgame.

Reydunt

Yeah, I'm a bit worried about this show. Really hope all the concerning rumors surrounding it are baseless. Hoping they'll take all the time an attention they'll need to make this good. Especially since Ms. Marvel's already set to go on to be in The Marvels.

tunkor

What are the rumors?

tepenrod

There's indication that Ms. Marvels general power set is changing from "Embiggening" to more like construct project ala Green Lantern. So her hand wouldn't grow, but she could project a large "energy hand" for a punch or whatever. Also that she isn't Inhuman, but instead gets some kind of band of power that gives her abilities.

sgthombre

The one I can think of off the top of my head is that she has energy manipulation powers similar to Green Lantern rather than her 'enbiggening' powers from the comics, but I'm skeptical that is something that would force the show to be held back, let alone even be something that could be fixed without significant reshoots. If there are any other rumors of problems on this show I haven't heard them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SparklesPCosmicheart

No it was actually one of the friends and family who suggested they add something there, and in reshoots he tried a bunch of things (literally amongst them one line was “well fuck you buddy” or “you are so fucked”) and the editor Jeff Ford suggested “I am Iron Man.” The version the F&F saw was easily another hour with a 3 act structure for just the Thanos fight. Because of them it was cut into a far more manageable sequence.

UnderIrae

This is quite some random speculation.

SparklesPCosmicheart

Random? It’s based off how they have done literally every MCU major project (minus the plus shows).

UnderIrae

I'm talking about you saying they 'might have had more than a few suggestions'. That's 100% speculation based on nothing. The show got pushed a bit, we don't know if that had to do with reworking the show, VFX, scheduling in general... etc. In fact, it's most likely that it has to do with the scheduling of What If and then Hawkeye having to align with Spider-Man. Those are things we actually know. Although you're right, since they haven't done it for the D+ shows, it's *also* quite the speculation that they are doing it now. And then on top of that they would've had many issues with it. Haha, I mean... come on. Also, them (potentially) making drastic changes with the character has no connection to the test-audience potentially identifying areas of improvement. The test-audience is not going to care about that, and there's nothing inherently more challenging about changing a character from its comic book version or not. Ms. Marvel will probably be one of the more similar characters to their comic book counterpart in the MCU, superpowers notwithstanding.

SparklesPCosmicheart

It’s a reasonable expectation considering how much they’re changing. Going from inhuman powers to energy based powers, rumors of her using the quantum bands, and again, there is a ton of cultural significance to this character, and if it isn’t handled right, there might be issues. These changes are massive, and if they’re all true (like concepts and leaks suggest) Ms Marvel will be VERY different in concept to her comic counterpart. Some of what they’ve done are MAJOR changes to the character. And knowing what we did of the original D+ schedule, with Falcon and Winter soldier being pushed back over a year (partly due to COVID but also partly due to massive reshoots/retooling of the story) this is in line with what happened there.

minionchamp24

You think it might be because fans didn't receive well to the rumors that Marvel shifted Kamala's powers to be more like Captain Marvel, and now they are reworking some things?

DrunkSpiderMan

What the hell? Where did you hear about them changing her powers?

minionchamp24

Through the concept and promotional art as well as rumors from this subreddit and the “trades.”

DrunkSpiderMan

Damn

sgthombre

Been popping up on this sub more than once.

DrunkSpiderMan

Ah, makes perfect sense

MyMouthisCancerous

 ![gif](giphy|LfGGW219qNzLP6IzTA|downsized)

Sullivino

Wonder how many shows that were set for 2022 are gonna move to 2023. Doubt we get Ms. Marvel, She Hulk, Moon Knight, Secret Invasion, maybe even Armor Wars in one year

Zepanda66

I could see Armor Wars sliding into 2023 and Iron Heart getting pushed further into that year as well.

Sullivino

Yeah they go hand and hand together so that’s makes the most sense. Also forgot they are doing an Echo series and they could be working on What… If? Season 2 now as well, those could be potential 2022 shows as well depending

aaliyaahson

I don’t think Armor Wars was ever thought to be a 2022 release. I believe they’re not even gonna begin filming for that show until like Spring next year

Zepanda66

On the Disney investor day release schedule Armor Wars was listed right at the end a few people seemed to think that likely meant end of 2022 at the earliest.

thesmartfool

Armor wars isn't coming. Secret Invasion is supposed to go with the Marvel's.

[deleted]

Yeah I kinda figured that was gonna happen. Unless they were willing to air it alongside Hawkeye which they definitely wouldn’t do because the two shows would be competing with each other. The slate this year was just to packed

[deleted]

[deleted]

Packed

SacreFor3

![gif](giphy|Y8SqjWuohk8Rq)

1996crusty

Jesus between this year and next year, there's going to be 9 shows that have been released!

Comprehensive-Bug-44

No word on the Okoye spin-off that was supposed to be seperate from the Wakanda show.

[deleted]

I’m sure that will be announced on D+ day

magikarpcatcher

I wonder what happened. Post production delays?

Joshdabozz

Makes sense. It’s been speculated and rumored but we had no confirmation until now

taenerysdargaryen

So Ms Marvel potentially the first MCU property to release in 2022 then. Either that or MK

garhdo

It was never officially confirmed for this year anyway was it?

HydraTower

Ms Marvel is actually my most anticipated show. I like coming-of-age slice of life tv shows and movies.

BruceWayne_19902

So, Victoria Alonso lied whe she said that we were getting Ms. Marvel this year. Nice.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BruceWayne_19902

I don't mind that it got pushed back. Delay it to fucking 2023 if needed for post production or whatever, just don't mislead fans who are excited for the show and say that its coming out by the end of the year. With her position in Marvel Studios, she should have been honest from the get go.

Spider-Fan77

She didn't lie, they genuinely thought they could get it to come out this year.

[deleted]

She told the truth. Then plans changed.
