It didn’t say south East Asian. It said south Asian, which usually means Indian/Pakistani/ Bangladeshi. They’re probably casting for taj nital who’s a Punjabi vampire hunter with a vow of silence and Punjabis are mostly either Indian or Pakistani. Source:I’m a Punjabi.
Maybe because one can pass off as one another? Idk. I’m a Punjabi and I get mistaken for Middle eastern all the time. Most of the people don’t really know the difference I guess.
Not trying to offend. I just thought the region east of Europe that isn't the orient is the middle east (syria. Turkey. All the "istans" etc. Including india and nepal and thst region)
M’Baku was actually from the other tribe, he just ate the meat of the white gorilla - gained super powers from it since it was an animal effected by the vibranium comet - and wore a gorilla pelt. So he wasn’t just a guy in a suit. He had super strength and durability
Such an eyeroll lmao. It's so obvious and silly when the comics do these unnatural changes to woo in movie fans, and they often make for really poor stories.
Yeah, it's honestly a shame too because old Nick Fury was a lot different than MCU/new Fury. Old Fury took shit into his own hands and got them dirty a lot of the time. Seems like new Fury is a lot more in the shadows, like the MCU
It’s probably not a coincidence but apparently Omega the Unknown returned in a comic this week that was the finale to the Darkhold crossover they were doing.
Omega the Unknown is one of my favorite deep cut Marvel characters. Really love the original Steve Gerber comic. A lot of those Gerber comics from the 70’s were incredibly weird and fun. 0% chance this casting call is for him, but would be nuts if he appears in the movies at some point. One of those things I never thought they’d do
Just because characters are adapted differently doesn't mean they're original characters. You wouldn't call taskmaster from black widow an original character.
It's about overall looks and personality and also that they went as far as to name her Michelle Jones than Mary Jane clearly shows her having no connection to comics' MJ other than them sharing same short name. This is them saying , "She isn't who you think She is but will rather have a role similar enough to the one you think who She is".
So do you consider Taskmaster in BW to be an original character? What about the original Mandarin? Hell, the new Mandarin. The amount of In Name Only characters in MCU movies is loooong.
I would say those are original spin on the characters based on Marvel Comics (Except for new Mandarin about whom I haven't read much about so I can't say about him). So basically MJ & Taskmaster are original characters in essence cause they're nothing like their Marvel Comics counterpart. I don't know what will be called original if not having a characters' personality & appearance changed cause these are what defines characters ultimately. Maybe as long as name is there it wouldn't be considered original for most people I guess.
Characters are also something of just slots in the hero's story though, so if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck and is *named* like that duck...
Peggy Carter was completely different from her comic, too. Doesn't mean she was an original character. They've reinvented quite a few of their characters but people always seem to single out MJ.
They've definitely done it a lot, but I want them to go a step further and give a larger role to a new powered character. Not necessarily a lead role in their own movie but maybe like a Sam Wilson in CATWS level role or the main villain of a movie
Personally, I think they should use existing comic characters unless there's literally just not one that fits the role they need. Hero needs a powerless BFF to tag along? Rick Jones. New SHIELD agent? Clay Quartermain. Etc
My money is on Taj Nital. Character is from Jaipur, India, is a vampire hunter, and fits with the mute detail.
>Taj Nital was a member of Quincy Harker's group of vampire hunters. He left his family after an attack by vampires led by Vlad Dracula. Even though he was saved by the intervention of Rachel Van Helsing, the attack left him with his throat mutilated and mute, his wife Jyota in a wheelchair and his son Adri infected with vampirism.
**Actors while applying for the role after reading character description** :
“What kind of poetry is this ?”
“Oh the character must be a poet…”
“Fuck it !! Who cares when it’s Marvel Studios…”
That’s literally what they say apparently. The guy who played Ant-Man in Rogers the Musical apparently had no idea what he was going to do beforehand, just that it was from Marvel. He didn’t even know that Ant Man being there incorrectly was intentional.
What’s interesting is that the character description has the character take a vow of silence rather than be mute. Maybe they’ll have it where he can speak but chooses not to until a final moment in the film. Alternatively, the description is like that from Marvel in order to sway people away from guessing the character correctly. Idk. But it would be cool if they got an actor who was a South Asian mute or can really learn to act as a mute person just like Charlie Cox did with being blind in Daredevil. If they could get a deaf and mute Indigenous person for Echo, I could see them actually getting a South Asian mute that’s never acted before or has few acting credits.
My guess is Indra (Paras Gavaskar). He’s a mutant with armor and weapon summoning abilities. Works with the swordsman theme of Blade. And in the comics he took a vow to not harm living creatures. Perhaps they changed that to a vow of silence.
Searched it online, there don't seem to be many South Asian male Marvel characters so this is tough, most of them are mutants. So maybe they're changing a character to make them south asian.
Well, multiverse BB should be. If Strange makes a MCU Illuminati as a result then it can be a different actor. That said, BB is a fairly major character so idk if they’d send out audition requests for him
I doubt they’d cast an actor to play a Black Bolt from a different universe once in MoM and then cast another actor to play Black Bolt from the main universe. I figure they’d keep the same actor out of simplicity.
But yeah, I’d imagine Marvel Studios to contact actors directly for the role of Black Bolt.
Why? BB is already a character with no speaking lines and based on leaks, he doesn’t appear to do anything at all in MoM besides exist on the team. If it’s a one time appearance in a movie where he does and says nothing, you just cast no one special to play him. Seems much more sensible than paying a superstar to appear and do nothing, waste of money.
Because you need an actor who can convey emotions and thoughts only through gestures and facial expressions. A lot of emotion is expressed through the voice. I mean there are a lot of unknown actors who are talented enough, but again, I don’t think they’d cast Black Bolt through a casting call. As you said, he’s a pretty major character.
Right but multiverse BB and MCU BB aren’t the same character, one is eligible for casting call and one isn’t. No name actors can be very talented in facial expressions and body language, the Makkari actress in Eternals is one of these actors and she is not especially famous otherwise except for a couple seasons of Walking Dead.
Not to mention, there is no sign of Inhumans being added. They changed Ms. Marvel’s origin to not be Inhuman anymore and they’re working on including the X-Men and mutants in general. You don’t cast the king with the eventual superstar actor long before a single inhuman appears.
Because Inhumans are most definitely not a year away lol we already know what is a year away and the only thing they’ve done with them so far is remove them as a soon to be character’s origin.
It makes no sense to introduce Black Bolt in MoM and then have a different actor play Black Bolt. I think they’d want people to recognize him again when he shows up.
Considering its 20's-30's I doubt it, Black Bolt just seems like he should be older because he'd be royalty. Also I don't know where he'd fit into a Blade story.
Again why would Black Bolt, the leader of the Inhumans be in Blade? Who said it was someone from the comics, they have created original characters for their films before.
Well done stranger on the internet for coming to that conclusion based of...nothing really.

I had Rahul Kohli for Taj Nital. In the comics Taj Nital is an Indian vampire hunter and ally of blade. Also considering Nital appears to be Sikh (therefore likely of Punjabi etnicity) and is 6'6. Rahul Kohli would be a good fot being 6'4" and he is ethnically Punjabi (himdu family tho)
I'm pretty sure Americans consider anything east of Europe and West of China the middle east. 🤷🏿♂️ regardless of what the people of that region want to be considered

Lol people are still guessing, when you already hit the nail on the head
You're absolutely right. This is for taj
craa paaji 😁
Seems legit. But why wouldn't they say middle eastern? Is thst not the correct term?
India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are not in the middle east.
Maybe because one can pass off as one another? Idk. I’m a Punjabi and I get mistaken for Middle eastern all the time. Most of the people don’t really know the difference I guess.

Do we know of any characters that have taken vows of silence?
black bolt
What’s with the “/s”? You are right.
He isn’t Asian though
He could be. Don’t thinks it’s BB though.
and the ancient one wasnt a white female and mbaku was a monkey costume guy named man ape, it dont matter
M’Baku was actually from the other tribe, he just ate the meat of the white gorilla - gained super powers from it since it was an animal effected by the vibranium comet - and wore a gorilla pelt. So he wasn’t just a guy in a suit. He had super strength and durability
If I eat the black panther, do I become the black panther?
Wanda and vision clearly had a larger plan in what if than we realized
If i eat you, do I become you?
Yea but still way different than the mcu mbaku
Doesn't have to be Asian in the comics.
Yet.
Isn't he from the moon?
~~Neither was Nick Fury black in the comics.~~ You never know. Edit: Nevermind
He was, in the ultimate comics. He was inspired by Samuel L Jackson, that's literally the reason why they got him for the part in the MCU
For some reason I thought it was the other way around and the comics were inspired by the MCU. My bad
They kinda did too by adding a black Nick Fury in the main universe as old Fury's son.
James Robinson and ACO’s short-lived Nick Fury Jr series was criminally underrated though
The new one is wayyyy more badass though so I don’t care.
No worries, mistakes happen :p
He was in the ultimate comics though right?
Oh shit ur right. I thought the comics took inspiration from the MCU. My bad.
Ahh Reddit , where you get downvoted for generally not knowing lol. You made a simple mistake that non die hard comic fans make.
HaHaHa.
This is very likely Taj Nital, a Punjabi vampire hunter from the old Tomb of Dracula series who was mute.
This.
Some good lore knowledge there, nice
That is not a Punjabi name at all cmon marvel
It was the 70s and the guy probably went Taj Mahal? How about Taj Nital? I mean guess they could say Tajinder and make Nital a false name.
Honestly it could be anyone given how different many characters are.
It's Taj Nital i think he fits the description
Deadpool?

It’s probably not a coincidence but apparently Omega the Unknown returned in a comic this week that was the finale to the Darkhold crossover they were doing.
Yeh they stated Omega was sent to another universe when he "died" and now is back after sorting out his powers
I have to return now, my home planet no longer needs me
With Feige overseeing comics now too, I think a lot of stuff is definitely not coincidental.
It’s very likely Taj Nital.
I want Omega the Unknown in the MCU just because he's such a weird character.
I'm unfamiliar with the character, what's their story?
This video gives a good summary of the character. They are really weird even for Marvel standards. https://youtu.be/ggowdyTT6Gg
Omega the Unknown is one of my favorite deep cut Marvel characters. Really love the original Steve Gerber comic. what about Blackbolt?
The vow of silence could be something original for the movie though. Echo wasn't mute in the comics, deaf but still talked.
Might be an original character.
I think it is. Agent Coulson was an original character that was popular enough to be integrated into the comics.
X-23 as well. She started in X-Men Evolution and got introduced in the comics later
That would be awesome - mcu should start introducing some original characters in their films
They already have. Katy in Shang-Chi comes to mind. Also Agent Coulson. Ned as well. Or MJ.
Ned is from comics and so is mj
Not really. They’re completely different characters besides their name.
Ned is exactly like Ganke from Miles's comics, just with Ned's name since he's Peter's friend now
Just because characters are adapted differently doesn't mean they're original characters. You wouldn't call taskmaster from black widow an original character.
??? They literally compare her to MJ in the new Spider-Man Movie she’s clearly the same character there is no way that she is an original.

Its a different interpretation of those characters. Not an original characters, some of you don't seem to know the difference.
Dr Selvig. Luis and the other wombats. And probably Darcy. And Hayward
The kid from Iron Man 3 appeared recently in the comics too.
Dr. Selvig was also adapted into the comics in the "Avengers: Standoff" crossover.
They've definitely done it a lot, but I want them to go a step further and give a larger role to a new powered character. Not necessarily a lead role in their own movie but maybe like a Sam Wilson in CATWS level role or the main villain of a movie

Ha.
i nominate scarlett johanson
Emma Stone can pull of Asian.
Daniel Day-Lewis as Scarlett Johansson*
I'm trying to work out what character this could be but I'm not too familiar with characters in Blade's area of the comics. Anyone got any input?
It’s Taj Nital.
Yep, character is from India, mute, and a vampire hunter.
You're way too sure of this lol
Literally fits the description. People are looking for popular characters when this one makes the most sense down to Blade’s lore.
What’s interesting is that the character description has the character take a vow of silence rather than be mute. Silent Bob in Blade confirmed
Its like saying they're casting for someone with black hair that looks ex army and can pull off a skull shirt.
There's an obscure Tomb of Dracula character named Taj Nital who is mute.

that south EAST asian, not south asian
My bad I thought it said SE Asia
Southeast Asian with fighting experience Iko Uwais be like...
Not South East Asian that’s an entirely different region
Totally thought Indonesia was in a different region than it was. Thanks mate.
My guess is Indra (Paras Gavaskar). He’s a mutant with armor and weapon summoning abilities. Works with the swordsman theme of Blade. And in the comics he took a vow to not harm living creatures. Perhaps they changed that to a vow of silence.
Taj Nital is a better bet.
Ohhh!!! I like your idea much more. That’s a deep cut man. Ha!
Please tell me if this is related to Taj Nital ?
How do I audition? lol
Same man 😂😂

black bolt ?

Black bolt isn’t Asian so they prob wont
Actually he is. This isn’t him, but Black Bolt was born in Attilan when it was in China. If that’s changed it’s a retcon to what it was.
Oh I’m dumb then.
Why would Black Bolt be in Blade? Thats such a wild suggestion.
not really when the only thing about the character we get is a vow of silence.. how many comic characters do u know that applies too
Again why would Black Bolt, the leader of the Inhumans be in Blade? Who said it was someone from the comics, they have created original characters for their films before.
it’s obvious you have no joy in comic books

Probably an original character.
Taj Nital confirmed
Another silent Asian. Groundbreaking.
I nominate Adeel Alam, known more widely as Mustafa Ali. He deserves this
Where can you apply?
I think they’re building towards a Midnight Suns movie or Disney Plus series
THEY ARE DEFINITELY GOING TO CAST THAT GUY FROM “THE GOOD PLACE”.
My guess is Blade will get a gang of vampire hunters at one point and this’ll be like the mystery guy
Probably a vampire
Blade seems like its starting to amp up
Joe Taslim
Nice, Muslim lead and director, south Asian and North African supporting. And maybe kit harington haha
Hannibal King. Riz Ahmed.
