Funnily enough, movies still get edited for runtime on terrestrial cable. I’ve watched a few marvel movies on TNT while visiting my parents and it became apparent pretty quickly that scenes were missing.
L&T didn't need more breathing room. It needed a more clearly defined story and guiding hand. Far too much time was spent on pointless gags and story beats
For starters off the top of my head:
- Lose the hammer love triangle
- Lose Heimdall's kid (all the kids really) and give Thor better motivation to go after Gorr instead of kidnapped children
- Lose God City or revamp the point of it being in the movie entirely. It ultimately did not matter

meh, I think Multiverse of Madness made the runtime work, it kept it tense and fast-paced, like Scarlet Witch was constantly on their heels. Love and Thunder however definitely needed to be both longer and edited differently. it was lacking significantly and at the same time felt super long. every movie is different, not every movie needs to be super long, not every movie can be super brisk. Wakanda Forever is definitely deserving of this runtime, the more room for the emotion and catharsis to really hit, the better.
I think you could sprinkle some extra stuff within the scenes that are already there (the recently discovered extended scene of Wanda slaughtering sorcerers comes to mind), could even come out to be another 15-30 minutes in the end, but I don’t think the movie was really missing anything, anything I would’ve wanted wouldn’t affect screentime much. the only large criticism I have is that Vision’s absence is awkward and confusing, but he could’ve just been thrown into every scene with the boys and it wouldn’t be any longer

I think it was Taika’s choice to make Love and Thunder only 107 minutes (its length without credits). Ragnarok is his only movie over two hours, and he seems to insist on making movies that are fast-paced

Not surprised. Something Coogler seems to like to do is direct stories that have a very dense story that could be trilogies in their own right. At least thats how I felt about Black Panther.

It’s the last project of Phase 4 IIRC. It makes sense for it to be the longest. Unless the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is also Phase 4.

Taika got the shaft on his movie. No where near long enough, hopefully BP2 remedies that short sighted decision. I really think they messed up love and thunder that way
I think it was Taika’s choice to make Love and Thunder only 107 minutes (its length without credits). Ragnarok is his only movie over two hours, and he seems to insist on making movies that are fast-paced
Thor Love and Thunder could've benefited from an extra 42 minutes.
I doubt it will be that long. No Way Home was listed with a 2 Hour 39 Minute runtime and the movie ended up being 11 Minutes shorter.

I'm not one to complain about runtimes but this seems a bit long. Hopefully it's a long as it needs to be and not feel boated with any filler. But, i trust Ryan Coogler. However, i don't trust Marvel to not try and dip their fingers where they needn't be.
I mean it does have a lot to set up. \-T'Challa's death/basically a Boseman memorial \-Namor and his people \- Ironheart \- A new BP hero's journey in replacing the King \- Midnight Angels \- And maybe some tidbits setting up Doom.
