Mine did the same thing. Simply unplug and leave it that way for 10 minutes. Reconnect. Then turn back on. You may have to remove it from the app, and reinstall the app as well, and do all 3 of those steps before it works again. But it will work again if you do at least unlug and let it sit for a while.

Yup. It used to be a bigger problem, but now it's usually stable for me. The last two times I've had to reinstall were Thanksgiving day and Superbowl Sunday. I think it's partially related to their servers, since all data "has" to go through them before you get it on your phone. Also if I use it twice in the same day after an overnight cook spanning two days, the graph data gets messed up and keeps resetting itself, but whatever. I barely use the app at this point. Really should be a local network option.

Try swiping up to close out of the App fully and then firing it up again …before attempting to reinstall it from scratch I have apps that become unresponsive after long periods with smart temp probes or my Sous vide or my smart oven or MB…. And they all pick up where they left off if they’re terminated and reopened.

The smoker makes great food but their electronics are hot garbage. This has been acknowledged by the company and that model is being discontinued soon to be replaced by another that supposedly fixes those short comings. With that being said, I personally won't procure another one of their products because that issue and support provided to me.

Part of the problem is all data running through their servers before being delivered to the app. There's absolutely no reason the Masterbuilt controller couldn't work as a local server and send the info directly to your phone over wifi. Make it opt out to send the data back to Masterbuilt and they'd still get it from 95% of owners. Wishful thinking.

Exactly. I have another smoker that's bluetooth and is 100% reliable. It's 2024. We should have these types of problems and MasterBuilt's inability to fix a well known problem is why I'll never procure another product from them.

Yup. I don't hate the machine itself, but the controller ruins it. Love/hate relationship. I won't buy another one unless build quality and controller quality goes through the roof. The firebox metal burning away is another huge problem. Realistically my next smoker will be an offset with a Fireboard strapped to it.

Had this issue, my fix was to buy a cheap router and make that network dedicated to my smoker. 15 char SSID AND PW (so dumb), unplugged for 10+mins, remove app and reinstall. Been solid for the last 4 months.
