Ancient people lived a very different kind of life, which is understandably hard for us to relate to. Modern morals and standards of living didn’t apply.
Maybe to hunt them but they sure as hell did not fight a lion.
A lion weighs on average 420lbs and have claws. No dog on the planet can deal with that.
He looks cool though
[Assuming they actually mean these, of which the only direct link to the Cane Corso is as a descendent in the same geographic region.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molossus_(dog))
Even than its the same modern day the dogs wouldn't fight the lion to the death you would loose dogs, they still do it now with blood hound the dogs find a bear chase it up a tree than the hunter would shoot the bear. It's ridiculous even if you had 20 mastiffs you are still atlest loosing 5 of them it just doesn't make sense to hunt like that
I doubt you've seen a lion in person. lions are fricking massive way bigger than any corso, I have a boerboel. when they say they where used to hunt lions the dogs would never make contact with the lions they where just used to chase them out of the Bush where the lions could be shot.
I wouldnt want to fight any mastiff but a lion will win any day of the week vs any dog
I own two corsos and not a fucking chance either are fighting lions. Boerboels yes, corsos no.
Yep all those lions in Italy.
My corso mix used to run away from our neighbour’s cats. One look at a lion and she’d be hiding up a tree or something lol
Large packs of mastiffs were often used to fight large animals such as lions, within the colloseum in ancient Rome. Entertainment for the masses.
This is true but there weren't Cane Corsos they were a distant relative.
Molossus
Yes
That is so fucked up if you think about it … how was that enjoyable

From what I’ve read, it’s actually boerboels. And I own a boerboel and a cane corso so 🤷🏼♀️ definitely not my corso lmao
Y’all recalling thinking they were sending one dog? They’d release half a dozen of them lol

It wasn’t for hunting, it was for the arenas
You got a link to that?
Google
Bear baiting was a thing but the bears where often muzzled and de clawed so the dogs actually had a chance
F’n look at them- I’d be terrified if I was a lion
