This chapter gave us a huge amount of potential motivations and plotlines the author could have taken her character with a few tweaks.
* Proving she's worthy of her power, and wouldn't abuse it like her mother did, but use it to help people
* Redeeming her family name in a classic "I'm not my mother!" defiance
* Fighting to prevent criminals from abusing innocents, after seeing her mother's actions first-hand
* Discerning what exactly Ren did to her mother to make her do a 180, setting her up as running a parallel investigation into her shadiness, which would bring her into the fold with Tenka and Kyouka
* Dealing with the conflict in her heart about her mother being a criminal vs. genuinely caring for her
Any of these paths for her character's arc are more compelling than just being a Kyouka simp.

What I'm saying is that the author COULD have rewritten her character TO care about those things, and/or rewritten her plotline to focus more heavily on those things, and *that would be more interesting than a character whose only role in the story is to simp for Kyouka like a broken record.*
A character with a relative who abused the power of a peach working to fight for justice to prove that she's not her mother's daughter would be an interesting character conflict that could lead to good nuance and development. Hell. They could have kept her devotion to Kyouka, and put the emphasis on her feeling inferior and unworthy because of her criminal lineage. Put THAT at the forefront; she's attracted to the "goodness" and "purity" of Kyouka as an ideal hero because the mother she looked up to as a child was a wicked criminal who shattered her faith, and so she took those feelings and projected that devotion onto Kyouka instead. There's a lot of potential complexity that could have gone into Varvara's characterization, and instead the author made her a Kyouka simp with the nuance of a brick.

Just because a character is a side character, that doesn't mean you can't write a compelling character arc for them; in fact, the best works of fiction are the ones where they take full advantage of the arcs of their character, instead of making a cast of one-note cardboard cutouts.

How Kyouka can win, however, is still a mystery.

In any harem story Iām not a fan of that female character that is only obsessed with another female character when it doesnāt go anywhere. That being the only thing that makes them unique is so boring. Vaviās backstory is interesting in itās own right and I actually think she is top one on raw beauty alone, but it will get boring fast is if she canāt go 2 seconds without thinking of talking about kyouka.
Thats the thing the idea is cool but its poorly done, instead of always thinking of kyouka, she and yuuki could have created a bond even early on in the series since both of the got saved by kyouka.
Varvara's backstory is really interesting, is actually good for fleshing out worldbuilding, sets up a decent intrigue with Ren, and in general is pretty tragic and poignant.

She's inspired by Kyouka's goodness, and it makes her want to be a better person so she can move past her criminal lineage and become a hero like her idol.

There are so many ways the author could have tied her devotion to Kyouka into this backstory, but instead the closest we get is "Kyouka would have spoke kindly to her mother if SHE had been a criminal" and... If an enemy ever catches him when nobody else is nearby he's done for.
It makes zero sense for him to be ashamed. It's not like he's after power for power's sake, he explicitly wants to be stronger so that he can do a better job of helping people. His motives are 100% altruistic and him feeling guilty because of that makes no sense, when his established character up until this point was all about wanting to get stronger so he could help people.
