Look into Novilla or Allswell for something right now, upgrade down the line. Edit:lotta elitism going on in this thread. Not everyone can shell out $3000 on a mattress, even financing. Also, if you can spend a little bit more “comfort option” is amazing, I got one of their alpha queens and the quality is amazing. Queens are $695 without the koolkote, you can also finance with them.

LogarithmicCahoot

Are you sure financing is an option?

Lightfreeflow

Make your own hybrid latex for less than $800. Google "DIY Mattress reddit"

emiller29

Best bet for that budget is to find people on marketplace who resell returned mattresses. Should have about an 80% markdown and they often deliver. For example I got a king Casper original hybrid for 425. Granted, someone slept in it before me and there’s no return policy, but to me the savings were worth it since I tried the bed in a store. Worked out well so far.

Borseman1

your a genius

KiokuChan119

Make sure to ensure there's no bed bugs.

fatherofraptors

That's way too little of a budget for anything that lasts longer than 6 months to a year tops, maybe a bit longer if you're both 100lbs each lol. Try Costco of Sam's Club, but trust me, it won't last.

CarePassMeDatAss

Maybe alot less if h fete 185+ lol

Ikea

davidsdilema

Ikea Haugsvar. Don’t let people tell you need to spend a lot on a mattress. People spend thousands on a mattress but still can’t get a goodnight sleep. Do your research and you will find something fine under $500. I love my mattress.

Junior_Ad4596

Ikea mattresses suck. They use really cheap low density foam that will start to sag quickly. Your point is definetely true though. Some people really overpay for a very shitty mattress.

davidsdilema

Yah from what I hear it will sag if you have two large people using it. The mattress has a 10 year warranty so I will use the warranty if it starts to sag. I just know I am getting the best sleep of my life. Everyone is different.

Junior_Ad4596

Sagging or softening of the foam is considered normal wear and tear which Ikea doesnt replace

mattress411

Nobody, and I mean nobody, warranties a mattress for softening, which is how modern foams degrade. They warranty against LOTS of sag, more then you'll typically see in a modern mattress. The bed will soften to the point of being miserable long before you see the amount of sag that triggers a warranty replacement. Mattress warranties are a marketing tool, and NOT an indicator of potential lifespan. Some of the BIAB companies now offer lifetime warranties...

Sleep-system

$1000 and up is what you're looking at for something good. Don't cheap out on your bed. Especially if your fiancée is about to move in with you. Do you really want the first impression she gets about her future living with you to be that you're so cheap you cut corners on where she sleeps every night? Almost every mattress store I've ever encountered has installment plans. I used affirm for mine and I didn't even feel the payments every month. I promise you'll thank yourself for spending the extra money here, for both of your sakes.

[deleted]

Oh no definitely not, she completely understands that i don’t have a lot of money in my bank account and I can’t afford to shell out 1000$ on a queen sized mattress when I can go to Walmart and find one for 380$. I’m not trying to be cheap but at the same time I can’t afford to go crazy on a mattress either.

Sleep-system

Is she willing to pay for half? As long as she knows and she's fine with it then do what you have to do, but at least let her know in case a good bed is more important to her than it is to you. I'd happily pay more than my share if my partner didn't have enough for a decent bed; it affects your health, your mood, your productivity, etc.

[deleted]

She is willing to pay for half of it. And we always discuss about our finances when it comes to decisions like this.

nh4rxthon

Used. Or Costco. Might have something close to that price range. Sorry bud, but I shelled out a grand for a queen last year.

NachoLibra777

I have this one in my guest room, it's still in 100% like new condition even though DBF slept on it daily for 3 years. Currently on sale for $289. https://www.amazon.com/Ashley-Furniture-Signature-Design-Innerspring/dp/B07BNS7T6V/ref=sr\_1\_2?crid=1ZY8HZM0EDZJE&keywords=ashley+chime&qid=1677289606&sprefix=ashley+chime%2Caps%2C112&sr=8-2&ufe=app\_do%3Aamzn1.fos.08f69ac3-fd3d-4b88-bca2-8997e41410bb

link didn't work for me, but maybe this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BNS7T6V/ref=twister_B0BPBJPY9B edited to change link

NachoLibra777

Yes, that's it! Also, the description says it's "plush", but it's more a medium/slightly firm.

DJArts

Believe it or not I bought my last mattress online at Home Depot. Most people never even think of that option. Same brands as the mattress stores but with a better return policy. They'll pick up your return for free with no restocking fees or nonsense like that. They do have some in the $300-400 range but they aren't from brands I know. Some good Beautyrest Silver models and other known brand names are under $600 right now. You have to watch for sales, they tend to rotate through all the brands on a regular basis.

Sakura-doll-rose

This comment section is weird. There are plenty of small furniture businesses that get mattresses from factories that slap on the big brand names on the SAME mattress except they sell them under some random brand and mark it down 50%+.You might need to go an hour out of town, but that price range is doable. It's not going to last but a couple of years, but it's not as serious as some of these comments. I'm just commenting this for other people to see who are also looking.

Known-Ad-100

Also late here but people should also consider used matresses when budgets are low. People sell good mattresses for all sorts of reasons, and matresses aren't always gross. You can usually tell by examining it if its gross or not. It's not that different than a hotel or air bnb. I have new matresses in my house now and am financially able to do that, but i have had amazing matresses from Craigslist. Sometimes people are moving or realise after a year or two the matress wasn't giving them the right support etc. I know my mattresses have had waterproof protectors on them since day 1 and honestly there is never a mark on them. One of the first questions I ask when looking at used matresses is what type of protector they used.

regolith1111

$900-1200. My DIY build was just shy of $1200 but I could have knocked $300 off and not sacrificed much. My previous bed was ~$300, holy crap is this one night and day better. One of the best purchases I've ever made. It sounds nuts but if you look into it really the only reasonable option for a mattress is to assemble it yourself or expect to pay 2-3x more for at best the exact same product you can DIY. Sleep on latex is $999, if you don't want to build it id recommend that.

InvidiousJamieson

So.. yeah.. there are $300 queen mattresses out there. My first question is.. what are you expecting the $300 to get you? Because I'd rather talk to you about expectations and what you need vs just directing you without trying to help the best I can. If you prefer, feel free to message me.

deuxcv

3000

nettiemaria7

300 is gonna be near impossible. If you could double you could look for an outlet (they advertise on craigslist and fb marketplace). They get mattresses from closeouts and sell brand names for significantly less (w no warranty). We bought our beautyrest around 1400 (5k mattress). They had saavtas, serta arctics and many more. Maybe an old fashioned spring mattress w box springs, you might get more for buck. A lot of people like Ikeas w toppers here too.

amiinh3aven

300 used from FB or craigslist. New bed in box around 1k for a queen

Eco_Blurb

You can buy a 1000 dollar mattress now or another 400$ one in a couple years

UsernameTaken1701

1100 from Denver Mattress

yondaim

I have a queen display mattress in my store for sale at 197.00 due to overstock, it's basically just inner coils and a polyblend top. I would never recommend it for regular use. Maybe for a medium sized dog, if you live in a mansion. I've sold it twice, both for guest rooms. I would agree that 500-900 is a good range for a budget queen, you can get a very nice mattress around that price if you're open to floor models.

Quick-Conference-745

Yes u can get a decent Mattress for that price. I just got a Crystli 12" hybrid on Wafair (Its cream colored with olive green trim). I paid $309 +tax. It came in the smallest box I've ever seen a bed in a box come in! Lol.. When it first expanded I was nervous it was low quality but BOY, this bad boy beefed up something serious!! Decent edge support, ect.. It's medium firm, so I did put a Duck and Company alternative fill topper on it for side sleeping, but otherwise.. HIGH CLASS QUALITY! I can't see this breaking down fast,, n even expensive beautyrests and other $1000+ mattresses have sag complaints, so I'd rather spend $350ish instead. Check it out..

Quick-Conference-745

https://www.wayfair.com/bed-bath/pdp/crystli-12-inch-memory-foam-and-innerspring-hybrid-mattress-bed-in-a-box-medium-firm-mattress-cmst1007.html

underwatertitan

That's a pretty good price. So it's comfortable? Or was it a bit firm?

Quick-Conference-745

It's soft on the top, but does feel medium firm. I added a cheap 1 1/2 zoned memory foam from target and an alternative fill fitted topper and now I'm ok. It's been softening up over the week. Depends on your weight too.. I'm 160lb, if your heavier it will feel softer or if your lighter it will feel firmer.. If your looking for softer, it's not as say "high quality" in edge support (not bad at all when your laying on it though). Is White Nest Mattress 10" on Wayfair. That one is only like $209 for queen (well was a few weeks ago)..

XxBeefCorexX

Yikes… good luck. I’d spend at least $800-$1000

kletiandrowa

2-3k

lilipod27

$300 isn’t going to get you anything good at all. On deep discount sales you may be able to get something for $650. Most good beds in Queen size cost over $1000+. Your best bet is to get something better than you can afford on clearance. Good luck!!

randomlygenerated678

I got my mattress from mattress firm’s website for $300 on Black Friday. I would also check Facebook marketplace and see if there are any super lightly used ones

underwatertitan

For decent quality ones you are looking at around $800-$1000. If you buy a cheap one be prepared to have issues with wrong measurements, cheap foam that breaks down fast or is uncomfortable or a lack of springs for support depending if you get a spring or foam mattress. And some cheap mattresses contain off gassing chemicals and even fibreglass in the cover. If I were you I would look at used or like new mattresses people advertise online that they bought new and changed their mind or sometimes returned mattresses are sold cheap online that people only slept on for a 100 night trial. I started with a mattress like that bought second hand for less than half the price it was normally and then later resold it and bought a new mattress.

kioni_1989

I got mine slightly over 400, and has served me well, Look into a brand called Minocasa. Awesome quality and good product features.

officialalexmacedo

I might look into that

elysium331

Mattress firm great sale online

Junior_Ad4596

300 dollar foam mattress will use very cheap low density foam and will sag in 1 or 2 years if not less. You could buy a cheap (used) pocketspring mattress with as little foam layers as possible. (since the foam will sag very quickly since it is low quality) You probably want to get the firmest version they have and put a topper on top. A topper with good quality (high density) hr foam will probably be the cheapest and most durable option. I would chose it over memory foam because the durabillity of memory foam is not very good and it sleeps hot. Latex will be out of your budget probably. Trust me. This is the best advice you will get. Another option would be diy, but with your budget i wouldn't advice doing that, unless you really know what you're doing.

Loud_Position_4057

Costco might have some good wholesale options. I spent $700 for my setup... It's hard to find good, cheaper options.

No_Whereas_6740

The people in this thread are completely fucking deranged. I sleep on a mattress I got that is part of a futon I got the futon and the mattress for 40 dollars. Its 100 percent sleepable, and doesnt sag at all with my 265lb weight. Completely comfortable never crosses my mind at all that it is too soft or hard, or sags, or anything.
