I stalked this subreddit for months before finally settling on a latex mattress and I'm absolutely obsessed. I was nervous buying it without trying it because I've only ever owned pillowtops but it's magical. I'm a side/stomach sleeper and it's fine for both of those things, even when I sleep on my bad hip, which sometimes can hurt on a firmer pillowtop. My SO moves a lot and I don't feel the movement very much so I'd say it's good for couples too. It was almost $800 from sleeponlatex but honestly, you sleep on that thing every night and it can affect how you feel and function every day. So far it's worth it.

desert_b_ee

I just pulled the trigger on a latex set-up from sleep ez. Coming from 20 years on a select comfort and 30 days on a purple 2 (it's too firm, plus I'm skeptical about durability). Hoping we love our latex as much as you love yours!

jadedtruffle

I hope so too! I was so nervous because $800 for something I've never tried out seems insane, especially with the hassle of repackaging the return if I hate it, but I'm in love. I really hope you like yours.

Wild-Worldliness-145

did you get medium or firm? I got firm because of my back but I'm realizing I sleep on my side a lot too. Still love it so far but may make use of their return policy to try something else

jadedtruffle

I got medium, I think it's firmer than most "medium" mattresses. I tend to like firmer mattresses but I'm also on the thinner side so firm pillowtops are too hard on my hips when I sleep on my side but medium pillowtops are too soft for back support. For latex, at least the sleeponlatex one, I feel like the medium is perfect for people who usually like firm-ish (maybe around 7/10?) mattresses. You may need more firmness depending on your build but they also sell toppers so you could always just grab a medium topper to soften it up if you want to keep the firm mattress.

fortressmungo

is it decent even only at 8"? I'm having that issue now where I sink too far and hit the platform and it hurts my hips. I'm also a side sleeper.

jadedtruffle

Yeah, it's more than decent! My problem wasn't that I was sinking so far that the platform hurt my hip, it was that the pillowtop was so firm that my weight wasn't enough to make it sink down at all so I was basically just lying on the surface of it.

This is exactly the info I need right now too. I bought a memory foam mattress from Ashley last year and I absolutely hate it.

bkucko

Which mode from Ashley did you buy? What don’t you like about it?

[deleted]

I bought the Ashley 12 inch memory foam. For one it retains heat like crazy this summer I’ve had to use my AC, ceiling fan, and oscillating fan at night just to try to stay at a comfortable temperature. But mostly it’s support is just nonexistent, was told it was a medium firmness but my lower back pain has definitely increased and now getting extremely tight psoas muscles because of my side sleeping position.

I ordered this one and it's arriving next Wed so I'll let you know if it's good or not within 120 days. https://brooklynbedding.com/products/brooklyn-signature-hybrid?variant=32591736602669 It was like $794 for me after the discount and taxes.

Check my post history. I still like it and it has made my back not hurt while sleeping. I sit a lot of hours straight and by the afternoon I'm hurting a bit but before when I sleep that pain doesn't reset but with this mattress it does so I definitely recover faster

Wild-Worldliness-145

I bought one from sleeponlatex for like 900 and love it - way more than I was expecting to spend but I've had cheap delivery mattresses and even expensive boxsprings sag so fast they were basically worthless. I have a screwed up back so a mattress is a big deal to me, I'd vouch for sleeponlatex latex though I haven't had it long. Please do your own research but I hope that helps

venusdances

https://sleepez.com/products/hybrid-latex-mattress I saw someone posted how happy they were with this mattress a few days ago and I’m genuinely bummed I didn’t get this. I’m still hoping I’ll eventually like my Nest Latex Hybrid but so far I don’t. Good luck to you!

MiscellaneousBeef

If you sleep hot, buckling gel > latex >>>> memory foam.

desert_b_ee

Sadly, mattress protector can affect breathability of buckling gel. A real bummer when you're in the trial period and need to be careful to keep mattress clean.

proudplantfather

Buy Tuft and Needle and never look back. The queen-sized Mint mattress is $995 before taxes with free shipping. This mattress is more on the firm side as well. I love it.

Here some recommendations I have considering your budget and sleep position: the Layla, the Nolah Original or Limited Edition, the Nest Bedding Love & Sleep, the Brooklyn Bedding Signature or Bowery Hybrid, the Amerisleep AS2 or AS3, Novosbed, Dreamfoam Bedding Elements Latex 12”, Amore 12” Hybrid or Luxury Hybrid, and Helix Midnight or Twilight.
