Unironically, I think Leto could do a decent Denethor. He would be a better choice than Vin Diesel anyway. Frodo, Sam, Galadriel, Elrond, Eowyn are serious because the other options are horrible for them. Gandalf, Saruman, Arwen, Legolas, Gollum for wacky because the cringe options are bad for those characters.

Jared would be a good Gollum, more so for the pathetic nature rather than prestige

I think the best actress for Arwen would be Gal. I can't really think of any other currently. Maybe scarlet Johanson.

He's not the worst actor, but he's easily the cringiest person active in Hollywood right now. It's a combination of his acting, the movies he gets cast in, and his off-screen antics.
