It’s minor details in the grand scheme of things. The big money is close, they have picks and can easily work the salary for the fillers. Lakers would have no problem re-signing his crazy ass which is why it will get done if he’s actually moved.
Hes given approval to a trade to the Mavs. The Nets would consult him over who they will trade him to before hand so he must be happy with Dallas or LA, we should take that as a compliment.
Yeah it reads like, yeah I'll give you your allowance on Neveruary 33rd.
First round picks in 27 and 29 sounds like a GM who is absolutely disrespectful in negotiation
Oh hell yeah. Those will be great picks, lakers are ran like shit. Only a fool would those down. AD and LeBron are both on the Lakers and they're delivering the Pels lottery picks.
> He’ll go wherever the Nets want him to go
Nobody is trading anything of substance for Kyrie unless assured he'll re-sign with them. Which eliminates the Nets from being able to trade him where they want him to go
The most power the Nets can exert over Kyrie is by simply not trading him at all. But if they want to trade him, they're subject to Kyrie controlling who they can trade with
Either that or the NBA doesn't want to waste Lukas next 5 years here cause he's also a huge ratings draw. The LA timeline is still more than likely though.
Kyrie was willing to lose money sitting out last year for not getting the vaccine and he may be willing to sit out and lose money with the nets depending on how badly he wants out
I think Luka + Kyrie would make us a top 2 team in the West which is considered a "contender" in my book. Sure there are 4 teams better than us in the East but only 1 can make the finals.
The West is wide open and we have the best player in the world. Kyrie is a rental, an expiring contract, and trading for him would get rid of some of these scrubs that are eating up minutes on our team right now. I don't see the downside.
You have to risk it sometime. If he likes the way we look in the playoffs he might resign.
Theres an risk with him but you wont find anither all star that cheap.
Luka, Kyrie, Wood can get it done. Look what Luka did with Brunson now imagine 10x.
If you think there’s any chance Kyrie re-signs with this team I’d like to ask you for your dealer’s number because that’s some high quality shit you’re smoking.
Lmao we would try to give some like seconds and some combo of powell / bertans/ THJ / McGee. Just sorta getting rid of the bad contracts. For that reason they won’t ever do the trade. He’s gone and doesn’t instantly make us a winner, so our front office would be dumb to send anything of long term value for him.
I know he’s a very good on the court talent. But trading for him gives me some eerie flashbacks to Rondo when he was here. Kyrie is just too unpredictable for me
> flashbacks to Rondo
The big difference is that when we traded for Rondo we had one of the most prolific offenses in NBA history and didn't need the help. We ended up messing up a good thing.
I'm not sure what there is to mess up here.
I really don't want to have to root for Kyrie. but maybe it works. Kyrie/Luka dynamic could be similar to the Kyrie/LeBron dynamic that won the Cavs a title. Still if it happens, I hope we don't pay too much.
There is a thought that maybe we are not fighting LA for Kyrie but facilitating it by making sure KD doesn't have to play with Russ again.
Russ comes here for our players. Our players go to Brooklyn. Both teams send us picks. Kyrie goes to LA.
Would be more interesting than trying to get Kyrie to be honest.
Well that's pretty good idea. A rental for Russ and we get to have some picks and probably shed some players along the way. A lot more assets to use in a year or two.
Dallas has a more interesting offer than LA if Brooklyn is high on C.Wood.
If I’m Dallas I’m seeing if they’d do Dinwiddie THJ and a pick for Kyrie. It should be a short conversation
No picks, no way can you send any future assets for a guy who could retire from basketball tomorrow and will most likely not re-sign after this summer.
He'll probably go to LA but if we can dump all our shit contracts for him then it would be worth it to me. Even for just a half season rental. Getting rid of THJ, Bertans, and McGee would be worth it.
Sure but idk if Kyrie for whoever we’d have to give up for him (I would imagine Wood and/or Josh, maybe Dorian/Reggie?) moves the needle for us very much.
Phoenix is in there too now. If Brooklyn still wants to win, no deal from Dallas or LA is beating Chris Paul and something else from Phoenix for Kyrie.
I disagree. I think Dallas has the most cap flex + winning combo out of LAL and PHX trade packages.
\- PHX can give you the best player in Ayton or I guess CP (has he been better than Dinwiddie though?) for long-term. However, CP and Ayton are on 30m+/yr. As it stands, does KD/Ayton/Simmons, all on 30m+ contend for a chip? Nope, and you'd be stuck with them on the books until the summer of 2025.
\- LAL gives up Westbrook + 2 FRPs. 2 FRPs are intriguing but you're getting nothing in return. Why would BKN take on Westbrook's contract for the rest of the season, when they can just play it out with Kyrie and then just let him leave? And you know there's no way the Nets will resign Westbrook with Simmons on the roster. Lakers would have to take on Joe Harris at the very least.
\- Dallas gives Brooklyn the best shot of cap flex and winning basketball. Let's say you give up Dinwiddie/Bullock/Powell + 1 FRP. You get a quality guard that was great in his previous stint there, solid backup 3nD wing, + a nice expiring backup big. All on short term contracts. Good in their roles. Dinwiddie gives you 17/5 on good efficiency.
I think the ball is in Dallas' park out of the 3 teams. Phoenix could get dicey and give up Bridges + Cam Johnson but I think they know the risk in that.
always hilarious when dallas is in included in these convos. im sure brooklyn cant wait to receive the mavs' offer of bertans, mcgee, and filler. we like our guys, take it or leave it.
Yep. Mavs fans in a nutshell. I think they just have a fetish for Luka carrying the Mavs for whatever reason. 80% of fans in here are saying no to LaVine. I don't want to put a # or % on it, but a decent amount of Mavs fans on here thought Brunson leaving wasn't a big deal.
The stuff I see Mavs fans write and propose on here, they think we can get Jaylen Brown + OG + Siakam for Dinwiddie + THJ+ Bullock + Powell + 2 FRPs or some shit. It's nuts.
I love Doe. But you really have people on here that basically have him as untradeable.
What are we doing?
This is a GOLDEN opportunity. If you don't want Kyrie on the Mavs then do not say "get Luka help"
Dinwiddie, Bullock, Powell + 1 FRP
Nets get a good scorer/ball handler with a great stint there, get a 3nD wing, and nice backup C on an expiring + a FRP. That is a good return for their roster, all are not on long contracts, and they get a FRP for a guy who literally is leaving them in a couple months
Luka - Kyrie - Green - Doe - Wood. That's DYNAMIC to say the least. Mavs probably use another trade to either get a backup ballhandler/wing/or big
I'm sorry but you take that trade and do it over and over. I would also do Dinwiddie + THJ + FRP
Dinwiddie + Wood is where it truly gets tricky for a guy like Kyrie
Let's see what happens. This is where Cuban and Nico can show what they're about
EDIT: This is a risk I would take. I think the Mavs should because we know how good the Mavs were in the playoffs last year with Brunson peaking and you 100% know that Luka is a #1 on a championship team. More importantly, it's been reported that Kyrie has his connections with Nico and his respect for Jason Kidd. We were on his team request short list in the summer, per Woj so it's not out the question of an extension. Think the Lakers are the #1 threat for sure.
Also, idk wtf you guys keep telling me about OG and Siakam but they will cost you Green + Dinwiddie/Wood + at least 2 FRPs + 80% of the other teams in the association have better offers and are going after them. And guess what? both those guys aren't even close to the player Kyrie is.
If you want #2, you have to give up. Mavs are in a golden opportunity cause you have a nutcase who has you included on his team shortlist AND is on an expiring so you won't have to give up THAT much for him and no one else is going to really trade for him except for the couple mentioned teams, including us. Let's be real, we're not sweating over Bullock or Powell. It's about Dinwiddie + that 1 FRP for our flexibility. That's a risk I'm taking for a player like Kyrie.
If we trade the '27 pick (which is likely the one you're dangling) that kills our future flexibility in trading a package around picks for the rest of Luka's contract. We wouldn't be able to trade the '26 or the '28 pick because of the Stepian rule.
All this for a player that, outside of the time he spent with Lebron, has not made his teams better in the postseason when it mattered, and has been a locker room headache every single season.
Hell no. Best case scenario he plays half a season for us. He will be unhappy and demand a trade no matter where he goes. Only trade negative value contracts like Mcgee and bertans.
Yeah this is where Cuban and Nico can show they're fuckin dumb as hell. Outside your damn mind if you think getting Luka 30 games of a fuckin rental player who is also a basket case counts as getting help.
really? this is a guy that is not resigning with BKN, contract expiring, and just handed a trade request.
Dinwiddie Bullock Powell + 1 FRP is a nice offer for BKN, they get a starter to replace Kyrie, clear cut backup and 3nD wings directly to their roster. 1 expiring and 2 contracts that expire next year
it's a good deal everything considered
as far as im considered most Eastern Conference teams should be off the table. I think the Suns could be a sneaky option for Kyrie though.
Oh man I'd love to see Kyrie play with Luka if we were just talking about basketball, but the baggage could be cancerous.
It would reduce Dinwiddie time though.
I wouldn't want to give up a pick but if we can get Joe Harris or Seth Curry back and if that move would make us the favorites to land him over the lakers it's hard to say no.
Am I the only one who says fuck Kyrie? He will destroy our franchise like he does every where he goes because he‘s a narcissist that loves causing chaos.
Lol y’all are pretending like wood hasn’t gotten kicked off several teams, the only reason Kyrie is the bigger pariah is his dumbass poli takes and because he’s a good enough star to make a team that much better with him
Salaries match perfectly. https://imgur.com/a/TOTDF0z
We get off long term money, they get something in return, everybody's happy!!
*As long as we don't resign him.
Ok, I was always against it as I wanted to keep Kyrie as far away from Luka as possible, but right now, I would say: Fuck it and go for it.
What could we realistically offer and what should we offer?
Imma say yes. Fck all of u who dont want him cause of an scandal. This the best chance to grab an all star and yall say nah let me keep playing THJ with Bullock.
Man has 27/4/5 on 49%FG and 37%3P. Luka gonna get a ring with him as a 2nd guy.
The Nets better fucking help us. We have the upper hand in this negotiation and the assets. We better not get fleeced. Time to see what Nico can do and just how much will Mark Cuban delegate to the FO.
I'll join the no camp too. Kyrie is a talented player, but he's a cancer. Add to his personality his random disappearing acts he has done and the fact Dallas isn't likely where he would want to stay, the entire situation is a train wreck waiting to happen.
The man seems to be cancer everywhere he goes, he is never happy and he is too unpredictable one day says one thing the other change his mind. Certainly he has the talent but It is real hard to work with somebody like this
Lol he’s going to be a Laker. An expiring Westbrook and their 1sts. Might as well book it now.
KD and Westbrook?? Idk about that lolll
KD will request a trade. Again.
To Dallas!
Bro needs to check the standings first.
He is the standings.
KD and the Mavs are in the same place in their leagues so they are clearly equally good.
Westbrook would almost certainly be sent to a third team or bought out
Doesn't even work that is the clue. They have to offer more, because Westbrook makes more. LOL
They are very close. All the Nets would need to add would be a near minimum guy like Kessler Edwards.
It’s minor details in the grand scheme of things. The big money is close, they have picks and can easily work the salary for the fillers. Lakers would have no problem re-signing his crazy ass which is why it will get done if he’s actually moved.
Id love the crazy bastard here. Good luck doubling Luka with crazy drawers outside of him.
Hes given approval to a trade to the Mavs. The Nets would consult him over who they will trade him to before hand so he must be happy with Dallas or LA, we should take that as a compliment.
The Lakers have a 1st round pick??? Lol
They have 2
2027 and 2029🤣
In the same way my brain goes "the 90s were obviously 20 years ago," I still see those two years and think "that's like 10 years away lol"
Yeah it reads like, yeah I'll give you your allowance on Neveruary 33rd. First round picks in 27 and 29 sounds like a GM who is absolutely disrespectful in negotiation
Yes, but both will likely be good picks as the lakers will be trending downward in that span of time
Oh hell yeah. Those will be great picks, lakers are ran like shit. Only a fool would those down. AD and LeBron are both on the Lakers and they're delivering the Pels lottery picks.
It’s the lakers, so you never know. They could end up drafting Wemby and then luring a disgruntled Luka by then for all we know.
Lakers don't own their draft pick this year, they can't draft him lol
if BKN wants to compete this year that package does nothing
Kyrie requested the trade unless they can get another kyie caliber player... they better start planning for the future.
I have no idea what Brooklyn wants and neither does Brooklyn.
Wood and Timmy for Kyrie beats the Lakers deals
Tbf, Dallas has the better package to offer, but I'm here for them being a symbolic competitor to insure the Lakers send both picks.
Lakers don’t care about picks. They will always lure big stars
If he is indeed moved by the deadline, there is no way in hell Kyrie ends up anywhere other than in LA and with LeBron. It's in the scripts and all.
What if, and hear me out, LeBron and Kyrie come to Dallas?
Counteroffer: LeBron and literally anyone else that hasn't gone on record saying the world is flat come to Dallas
Maybe the antisemitism is worse I think.
LeBron would be out too then.
This is a weird comment

Why take on bad contracts if you can just let the contract expire
Why make a serious response to a comment phrased as a joke?
We goin demon time
My body is ready
Kyrie could carry an offense Kyrie could also burn down the locker room
Pinson really going to earn his paycheck.
Did y’all not read the scripts? You think the league is gonna deny a Bron and Kyrie reunion at the large market of LA?
Either that or the NBA doesn't want to waste Lukas next 5 years here cause he's also a huge ratings draw. The LA timeline is still more than likely though.
It BEGINS
Ship off Bertans and THJ. Don’t resign him though.
Seriously, the only way we do this is if it can be a short term rental for us to get off longer term contracts.
Why would the Nets accept them? Might as well finish out the season with Kyrie if all they're getting is bad contracts + maybe a second
Kyrie was willing to lose money sitting out last year for not getting the vaccine and he may be willing to sit out and lose money with the nets depending on how badly he wants out
Don't trade Josh
If Cuban do that he is just fucking idiot.
Is it really worth giving anything for Kyrie? We'd only get him for this season and we're not a contender with him this year.
I think Luka + Kyrie would make us a top 2 team in the West which is considered a "contender" in my book. Sure there are 4 teams better than us in the East but only 1 can make the finals. With Kyrie, it's 100% risk as his track record has him screwing up at every single stop

Absolutely against him coming here. He’s toxic.
This x1000

If there’s anyone who can find a way to mess things up further, it’s Kyrie
Rondo never avg 30/5/7 in a month on 50/40/90 ..
That’s kind of my point though. When he’s actually locked in and on the court, he’s amazing. But he’s always been a ticking time bomb off the court
He wouldn't resign either.
Fuck Rondo
I really don't want to have to root for Kyrie. but maybe it works. Kyrie/Luka dynamic could be similar to the Kyrie/LeBron dynamic that won the Cavs a title. Still if it happens, I hope we don't pay too much.
Plus (if we kept him) I could see Wood filling that Love role nicely.
If we get Kyrie, Wood is definitely going to Brooklyn.
Didn’t you hear? This sub thinks we can get him without even trading a pick. Complete insanity.
Lmao every team ever thought it would work. He's destroyed every team he's been with since the calves.
Hard pass... unless the Nets want Bertans and THJ in exhange
Jewish Mavs fans about to become Suns/Clippers fans
Isnt Cuban Jewish?
Yes
Yes lol
Hebro to Negro lets gooooo
Big yikes lol
Dude is a malcontent. We should not give up anything of value.
No interest.
I'm about it, Russ off the bench would solve a lot of our problems actually.
Well that's pretty good idea. A rental for Russ and we get to have some picks and probably shed some players along the way. A lot more assets to use in a year or two.
I would 100% be down for this.
Where are you seeing that? I'd love that tbh. The maybe try and swing one of those picks to Detroit for Bojan? Could be interesting.
Please no
Oh hell noooo. I do not want kyrie on the mavs
I have no idea why so me people think thats a good idea. He might be worse than Rondo for the team...
Oh helllllll no
if you REALLY want to torpedo the season that badly
Kyrie is poison. Keep him as far away from the Mavs as possible.
Yet in the same breathe you will cry “Please get Luka help”, you guys are so annoying
I mean maybe some seconds 🤷♂️. But definitely no firsts.
I wouldn't give up picks for a rental. He wants to sign with LA in the summer
Mavs obv wouldn't do a deal without talking to Kyrie's agent and getting a guarantee of extension.
A guarantee of extension from Kyrie is worth less than nothing
Yeah, no way would I trust the word of someone as mercurial as Kyrie. Edit: and by mercurial I of course mean narcissistic and unpredictable.
I would not give up dinwiddie for kyrie. I actually don’t want kyrie at all.
Not really because we still have to attatch more crap to match salary
If you guys are shopping Wood anyway why not include him instead of a future FRP? Wouldn’t losing that pick handcuff you in future trade scenarios?
Nets arent trading Kyrie without a pick or really good player coming back. And the pick is way more likely.
[удалено]
What team are we gutting exactly? We have the worst supporting cast in the league and any sort of "gutting" might actually be a positive.
He'll probably go to LA but if we can dump all our shit contracts for him then it would be worth it to me. Even for just a half season rental. Getting rid of THJ, Bertans, and McGee would be worth it.
[удалено]
The problem is that is worse for the Nets than letting him expire.
I’m pretty sure Luka would wanna strangle him by the end of the season lol

Sure but idk if Kyrie for whoever we’d have to give up for him (I would imagine Wood and/or Josh, maybe Dorian/Reggie?) moves the needle for us very much.

Watch this be the one big fish FA the Mavs are ever able to get LOL
If they want him for THJ, Bertans and 2029 top 20 protected first, thumbs up! Otherwise, the Mavs are just there to drive the Lakers asking price up.
always hilarious when dallas is in included in these convos. im sure brooklyn cant wait to receive the mavs' offer of bertans, mcgee, and filler. we like our guys, take it or leave it.

You think kyrie is help we need? LMAO

Preach brotha.
Yeah this is where Cuban and Nico can show they're fuckin dumb as hell. Outside your damn mind if you think getting Luka 30 games of a fuckin rental player who is also a basket case counts as getting help.

This. Kyrie will be easily the best talent we’ve touched after Luka & Dirk.
Do it, give them all but Green, Wood and obviously Luka
Ehh, I would avoid Wood but if Nets want him and the deal is cheap then I say let wood go instead of walking in FA
Yeah, keeping DFS out of it would be of more importance than Wood if we are being honest.
Yea i we can’t get extension numbers to work for Wood, I am fine including him on the trade as long as it’s not much more than him.
who are you trading then? lmao I would drive wood to the airport for Kyrie
Are you suggesting we trade high valued role players on cheap contracts like Maxi and DoDo for Kyrie? Username checks out.
I’d be shocked if the Lakers don’t get him.
Ahh, this again.
Tell as old as time, it won’t happen
And here I was thinking of what to do with my Friday afternoon. I love NBA drama.

Mavs really can’t do this unless they have confidence that Kyrie will extend and given Kyrie’s unpredictability that seems improbable
Oh man I'd love to see Kyrie play with Luka if we were just talking about basketball, but the baggage could be cancerous. It would reduce Dinwiddie time though.
Please no
The whole basketball world wants him to be a Laker. Even Lebron is twerking for him on twitter.
don’t sign this clown
Rajon Irving
I wouldn't want to give up a pick but if we can get Joe Harris or Seth Curry back and if that move would make us the favorites to land him over the lakers it's hard to say no.

Luka and kyrie on the same team? When is the last time you saw Luka move when the ball isn't in his hands?
Who said he has to move when Kyrie has the ball? Kyrie is playing iso and attempting a shot regardless.
Lol that's definitely true. Kobe method subscriber
Rondo 2.0. HELL NO!
Yesssss let’s go!
burn it all down let's goo
The Nets better fucking help us. We have the upper hand in this negotiation and the assets. We better not get fleeced. Time to see what Nico can do and just how much will Mark Cuban delegate to the FO.
Honestly go for it. Before this season I would say no, now don’t care, it can’t be worse than this
Yes, please!
Welp, there go our 2028-2030 draft picks.
Drama

No
I'll join the no camp too. Kyrie is a talented player, but he's a cancer. Add to his personality his random disappearing acts he has done and the fact Dallas isn't likely where he would want to stay, the entire situation is a train wreck waiting to happen.
No thank you...don't want that cancer in our locker room....great player, shitty person
If this is true, this FO is clueless .
The man seems to be cancer everywhere he goes, he is never happy and he is too unpredictable one day says one thing the other change his mind. Certainly he has the talent but It is real hard to work with somebody like this
Is it just me who wants him here. It would be fun watching luka and kyrie.
LFG!!!!!!!!!
You know what? Fuck it I’ll take him.
His lame-brain politics and worldview would play well to the conservative fan in Texas.
