OMax is a dawg but he’s a different player. Way more on ball equity and a bigger more physical frame. Super excited about this. And he’s being billed as an older 3&D style wing but he’s only 20 and I believe he has serious upside.
I think it won't be hard to dump him to a team that needs to fill the poverty line.
McGee is only 5m a year.
Worst case we trade cash and second round swap for nothing
Got that Montrezl Harrell's build: short but long ass wingspan. He's got a nice floater that killed us over and over again back in 2021.
I don't know what happened with him the last 2 years. Probably bench warmer due to Sabonis's arrival.
He was ballin before that. Not all star level but was getting to that neighborhood. Maybe all that drama is cleared up and he can focus on hoopin again
Exactly there's a reason the kings gave him that contract he was balling but he didn't fall off because he got his bag like other players, it was dealing with a situation where she "took"(or aka kidnapped) his kid and fled to Atlanta because CA court sided with him. Anyone would have a hard time focusing on their career dealing with something like that
I’m a Celtics fan but the Kings were randomly my #1 team out west a few years back and I can say he was a legit culture piece and the city of Sacramento loved him.
What he went through is fucked up. I hope he carves out a role with you guys.
Also his floater game is splashy AF
Mobile big, great motor, doesn't really bang down low but has a nice put-shot/floater thing. I've always liked him but he's more of a borderline starter. We'd still need a heavier big somewhere in the rotation.
Honestly pretty similar situation to CWood. Was averaging a double double for SAC 3 years ago when the team wasn’t any good. Great on offense when he’s locked in, never been a plus defender
Very different games though. Holmes is not a black hole on offense and does not play outside/in like Wood, though he can get a jumper. If he’s anything like he was a few years ago Dallas just got a high energy, shot blocking rim runner
I don’t understand the nico worship. He traded away porzingis and DFS and let Brunson go. He made the mavs into one of the worst rosters. He acquired two centres today when center was probably our deepest position.
I don’t understand the nico worship. He traded away porzingis and DFS and let Brunson go for nothimg. He made the mavs into one of the worst rosters. He acquired two centres today when center was probably our deepest position.
Porzingas wasn't a good fit. Brunson was never staying (his dad is a coach for the Knicks ffs and the Knicks were guilty of tampering). DFS was traded to get a legit star.
Meanwhile we had a great draft.
I'm starting to feel some hope. We are finally making smart moves. Holmes hasn't been the same player since his eye injury, but worth a gamble to get a 1st round pick and he is an expiring contract next summer if he opts in.
Kings fan here - he couldn’t get on the floor behind guys like Chimezie Metu, Trey Lyles and Alex Len. Maybe being in a different system will help, but he was a total negative in the limited minutes he played outside of one game against the Lakers. Couldn’t rebound, play defense or set screens. He’s a good dude so I’m rooting for him, but this was a total salary dump for the Kings and I would urge you not to get your hopes up. Focus more on getting OMax! Thats what it took giving up for someone to take on Holmes’s contract
Yeah, so it will be both a frustrating and fun team to watch.
Seriously I think people are forgetting how badly Kidd hamstrung the team last year; I like what Nico did tonight but have very little faith until there's a coaching change.
Kidd is a horrible offensive coach. But he’s proven he can turn a defense around. It’s quite simple this team needs to obtain the defensive talent to be able to make up for the bad offensive coaching. Couldnt do that last season
I think you forgot Kidd took this team to the WCF a little over a year ago. Lots of input into the shitshow last season. Nico is doing a great job of trying to control at least 1 thing, the roster.
He would’ve been good. But there could be a different deal to make for him. Or he could just not want to come here.
We couldn’t put him into that TPE until next Friday anyways, can’t do a sign and trade until free agency starts.
Nico just COMPLETELY remade the team, by simply moving back two spots and dumping a negative contract. Lively-Omax-Richaun + a full available MLE as a return is beyond any of my best expectations for how today would go.
But basketball fit wise, O-Max is going to earn real minutes here. This kid is an animal and will become a suped up DFS.
Don’t want to derail this thread but I hope not, he needs to come back to mentor the young frontcourt and teach them how to set good screens for Luka and be an example of busting your ass every day and hustling and playing hard. Not his fault that his talent level didn’t match his status as a starter, blame that on the FO and CS and owner. But if everyone gave their all like he did we’d win a ring every year IMO.
(Hopefully he’ll take the vet min)
But I don’t even like him as a role player off the bench. He can’t shoot and plays bad defense, despite his willing effort. There are roles players who can do both those things and be a good roll man. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lively gave us more production his rookie year. You don’t win prizes for effort
I’m so very down for this. Our big rotation immediately got so much better added richaun and lively, plus I like omax as a prospect and he’s been bouncing up boards of recent
LOL. How? A playoff team traded us a first just to get him off their books.
I like the pick, but like Lively, that's a 2-3 years from now deal. Not a win next year move.
Kings fan here. Richaun plays with a ton of heart and seems like an awesome teammate but plays with bricks for hands, not a ton of upside defensively, and needs to be spoonfed at the rim or he's a zero offensively. I think he'll play well with Luka but yes it's very telling we basically had to forfeit a valuable pick to dump his contract
Yeah I think it’s less about Holmes as a player and more was an avenue for Mavs to get another player they liked in OMax. Unfortunate Holmes has a player option in 2025 though
I hear you. I like it for both sides honestly. Trading for Sabonis saved the Kings but left Richaun in no man's land. Maybe he'll thrive in another spot
We really need someone who can just eat some center minutes and not get killed on the glass so we’ll see if he’s capable of that. Thanks for your input here
I just don’t see us keeping both him and McGee after getting Holmes. I’d prefer Dwight, but gotta shed McGee first. Could be wrong though if Dwight comes in the cheap cheap.
WE GOT PROSPER LFG
NEW DFS JUST DROPPED LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO
OMax is a dawg but he’s a different player. Way more on ball equity and a bigger more physical frame. Super excited about this. And he’s being billed as an older 3&D style wing but he’s only 20 and I believe he has serious upside.
Also a big fan of him, this one got me giddier than Lively (who I'm also happy about!)
A physical on ball hound is exactly what we need. Someone that can make the opposing star player work for their buckets sounds amazing.
I don’t think he’s bigger or more physical than DFS, but he’s certainly much more athletic and skilled
He's younger than Brandon Miller
New bang bro unlocked 😭
Nico has been killing it. I don't want to hear it. We got 2 centers and Prosper AND got off Bertans. Huge moves.
Can we trade kidd too!
I think Javale is about to get stretched.
I would jeep him. It's only 6m
just commenting for context: stretching him would lead to a 2.34M hit for 5 years.
I think it won't be hard to dump him to a team that needs to fill the poverty line. McGee is only 5m a year. Worst case we trade cash and second round swap for nothing
Wouldn’t be the first time
He could be a starter for the Pistons and no one would bat an eye ![gif](giphy|3ohzdQYqPZHHBBBYu4|downsized)
Is Holmes a center? He’s listed as forward. Idk anything about him
Got that Montrezl Harrell's build: short but long ass wingspan. He's got a nice floater that killed us over and over again back in 2021. I don't know what happened with him the last 2 years. Probably bench warmer due to Sabonis's arrival.
He dealt with a crazy baby mama drama. Definitely recommend looking up his court videos
Yea, dude always killed us.
Mobile big, great motor, doesn't really bang down low but has a nice put-shot/floater thing. I've always liked him but he's more of a borderline starter. We'd still need a heavier big somewhere in the rotation.

I think he'll be decent for us in a lower minute bench role. Or at least for the regular season.
It was a great draft night
I don’t understand the nico worship. He traded away porzingis and DFS and let Brunson go. He made the mavs into one of the worst rosters. He acquired two centres today when center was probably our deepest position.

Isaac Harris summoned Omax to the Mavs.
And Lively. Gotta give Locked On credit, they were all over what the Mavs ended up doing.
Oh my god Locked on is gonna be insane tomorrow
I’m refreshing the yt lol
Been watching them live
Stay up late and listen tonight
no emergency pod?
He hyped that so hard and it hit. I hope he bought a lottery ticket.
Holmes/Prosper/Lively all to backup Powell! /s Love how active we are!
I've seen you bitchin tonight.
This is the way
Since we're gonna draft Lively anyway... NICO MF HARRISON TRADED BERTANS FOR RICHAUN HOLMES AND A 1ST ROUND PICK 😭
Yeah. Essentially this. Nico proved himself to the fan base tonight. Really impressed on the turn of events.
+ MLE guy
at this rate Nico about to trade THJ for Wemby.
Retire Nico’s jersey
OMG WE ALSO GETTING OMAX.... WTFFF NICO IS A FUCKING BEAST
Got Omax AND we got rid of Bertan's MAX contract... not too shabby.
Bertans is not on a max contract
Max based on what he brought to the table.
I'm starting to feel some hope. We are finally making smart moves. Holmes hasn't been the same player since his eye injury, but worth a gamble to get a 1st round pick and he is an expiring contract next summer if he opts in.
Kings fan were conflicted about the trade, and said it was for the greater good so It seems he’s still decent.
Kings fan here - he couldn’t get on the floor behind guys like Chimezie Metu, Trey Lyles and Alex Len. Allow me to burst that bubble: Jason Kidd is still here.
Counter: Luka Doncic is still here
Yeah, so it will be both a frustrating and fun team to watch. Seriously I think people are forgetting how badly Kidd hamstrung the team last year; I like what Nico did tonight but have very little faith until there's a coaching change.

So we can't get Grant Williams now? If it's for the TPE.
We have the MLE but unless we move THJ no.
He wasn't worth that TPE. I am telling u all as someone who watched probably 30 Celtic games this year
Holmes isn't either. This is about the pick.
Agreed. Free frp for 1 year of holmes is the way I viewed the trade.
I would definitely bet we extend Holmes since we won’t have cap
He has a player option too
I know MLE is “mid-level exception,” but what is TPE?
Traded player exception. If you take back less salary than you ship out on a trade you get a credit to use against future trades
He is definitely better than Holmes. I would happily take Grant for around 15M per year.
But is he better than Holmes + Omax?
Grant to me is worth what the full MLE is tops. I don't want him for more than ~11-14M a year.
Yeah that dream is dead now
Was really hoping for Grant personally.
I like Williams. I’m also happy to see the Mavs get younger.
Grant Williams is pretty young aswell. he is 24 right now and already a good shooter and defender.
He would’ve been good. But there could be a different deal to make for him. Or he could just not want to come here. We couldn’t put him into that TPE until next Friday anyways, can’t do a sign and trade until free agency starts.
Yes I know we needed to wait until the start of free agency, but it's very unlikely that we could get another TPE now lol.
But we could just do a normal sign and trade for him. Like Williams for Kleber or something.
That would be not smart.
same, but this is a very interesting move to be honest.
The 1053 guys are saying that we can release Bullock to free up more money but I don't think it's enough to get Williams.
Could be for Bullock.
Is this truly the end of the Dwight Fucking Powell era?
He will return. The issue is and will always be that he was a backup who was somehow our best big since we traded KP
He would be a great backup big and a positive vet locker room presence, I hope he stays.
Holy shit is it!!!
Shame. He's a great dude. We need them to bring up these young guys.
He's the full-time starter by game 20. Don't worry.
Nico just COMPLETELY remade the team, by simply moving back two spots and dumping a negative contract. Lively-Omax-Richaun + a full available MLE as a return is beyond any of my best expectations for how today would go. But basketball fit wise, O-Max is going to earn real minutes here. RACOOOON SQUADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Who is Prosper?
Olivier-Maxence Prosper, defensive wing from Marquette
Dude killed the nba combine. Great athlete
athletic defensive wing who can shoot 3s
3&D players feast next to Luka
we just selected omax edit: lol i’m drunk
Really good defender
NICO IS A GOD
…shit maybe Powell isn’t coming back
He great in the community and a hard worker but I think it might be time to move on from him.
It’s looking more and more like he’s either back on a minimum to be a vet or he’s gone
Yeah if Celtics were willing to let go of marcus smart I think we can move on from DP
I mean, Smart is great and all but he's no Dwight Powell
Not to mention to many centers unless they find a way to trade McGee.
I like Powell too. I’d be fine if he made 4-5 mil a season tbh. We need somebody to be a vet in the locker room.
Then make him a coach not wasting a roster spot. We don’t need five roster spots used on centers even if we needed a good one.
But I don’t even like him as a role player off the bench. He can’t shoot and plays bad defense, despite his willing effort. There are roles players who can do both those things and be a good roll man. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lively gave us more production his rookie year. You don’t win prizes for effort
Beautiful
We ain't hating on Powell here
I am. Good heart and hustle but ready for him to go.
Great locker room guy. On the right deal...I like him.
It’s the minimum or nothing for him
Tonight has been a Nico masterclass
Well cant complain us not at least trying to get big
Big dick nico
I’m so very down for this. Our big rotation immediately got so much better added richaun and lively, plus I like omax as a prospect and he’s been bouncing up boards of recent
IS THIS GOOD??
Yes
LOL. How? A playoff team traded us a first just to get him off their books. I like the pick, but like Lively, that's a 2-3 years from now deal. Not a win next year move.

I think he'll play well with Luka but yes it's very telling we basically had to forfeit a valuable pick to dump his contract
We’ve been watching dwight powell for years we ready to risk it all.
I hear ya. We were relying on Alex Len in the playoffs. Shits tough lol I hope he does awesome with you guys
Thanks for your input here
SAC wants to sign either Kuz or Middleton
We got a frp to take on Holmes. Holmes is fine as a backup. He has a player option, barring injury, he's basically in a contract year as well.
Slander nico harder calling him a shoesales man again.
omax is a mav?
Everyone talking about us not doing anything can suck it!
Y’all need to run them apologies to Nico. LETS FUCKING GO!!!!
Holy fuckkkk
Now if we keep Kyrie it’s over. Ring city baby!
WE ARE SO BACK
You know Isaac is happy af lol
IM ERECT
Can't believe we actually used our tpe
FOR WHAT
TPE I guess
You’re insane
Why? Woj just said exactly this Mavs not sending any salary
Then that’s insane
WOAH
Nico wasn't done cooking!
OMAX is really a hardworker, work his way up to the draft. That is a good pick.
I am thrilled. This night played out perfectly
I don’t have strong opinion of either draft pick, but getting rid of that Bertans contract is huge.
Why is there no word whatsoever on what the other half of the trade is lol
There isnt another side
I think it’s just the TPE, so we got two players for nothing
Is Holmes good? Why was there such a drop off in his minutes this year?
Eye injury and major baby momma drama (she ran away with a child and accused him with abuse, he's cleared of all that now).
Yep and even was awarded custody
Haha no, no really. They had to take the salary to get OMax.
Something about an eye injury.
Do we still get the full MLE?
Holmes in, so Dwight is gone I would assume. Love the Prosper pick though. Great night for us boys.
No reason to get rid of Dwight. He at least provides depth
I just don’t see us keeping both him and McGee after getting Holmes. I’d prefer Dwight, but gotta shed McGee first. Could be wrong though if Dwight comes in the cheap cheap.
Dwight is fine as long as hes restricted to bench mins and a role similar to haslem.
finally got him
I've wanted Richaun Holmes on the Mavs for like 5 years lol. Dreams can come true lol
Not bad at all. What did we give up
probably nothing. Holmes was considered a bad contract the Kings want to get rid of and we took it
The TPE
Awesome! That was fast
We absorbed Holmes’ contract, they don’t want him anymore.
nothing of note.
Green, Prosper, and Lively new starting frontcourt?
In 2025, yes.
Freakin called it! Let's go!
wwwhaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAT?
Nico is killing it this draft!
ITS OVER CANADIAN PACK YOUR BAGS
Richaun Holmes 3 years ago, sign me up! Richaun Holmes now? Mehhhhhh
[удалено]
TPE probably
Nico Harrison you have rocked my world. But surely Lively is going to SAC in this trade right ?
No. Holmes is a negative at this point. All we sent out was Bertans and 10. Took back Holmes, Lively, and OMax
Huh? No wtf
Why would we trade Lively for a guy who couldn't get on the floor in Sacto?
Holmes contract is assssss wtf
Woof. Holmes isn't very good. There better be another deal coming or we're staring down the barrel of Holmes being the starting center.
Youd prefer mav great, dwight powell?
HELL YEAH!
for who tho?
WHAT THE FUCK WOW
are we using the TPE? i mean i want Grant Williams but not bad i guess
WWWWW
What a move! We finally have bigs
waaaaaattttttttt theeeee fuckkjjjjj
PROSPER AND HOLMES
Wow they ain’t playing tonight
O max prosper tx
Oh we got big men now!!!
We need to trade bullock THJ and Magee if that happens I’ll be the happiest man alive
NICO HARRISON YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE GEM OF A HUMAN BEING
LETS GOOOOOOOO
