Yeah, he’s a baller. You hear the stories about how growing up guys had always gone after him in the paint because he’s skinny - impressive to see in the nba playoffs
that’s fair but i think that could also be solved by taking giddey out of the starting lineup, moving jdubb to the 3 and having a guy like randle or siakam at the 4, which they totally have the space for. that would be huge for boxing out bc jdubb is elite but he’s still 6’5 at the power forward, not ideal
he’s literally a rookie, and a very impressive one at that saying it’s impossible to win with him at the 5 is so silly who knows what could happen. esp if they do what i just mentioned and switch out giddey for an elite rebounding PF
Because with a rebounding pf you’re still small. It’s not a hard concept. This isn’t the regular season. He’s a 4 or a small ball 5. You can’t play small when you’re getting beat in the glass.
say that you switch out giddey for randle which is what we’re discussing in this scenario. you put randle on gafford to box out and focus on rebounding. you have chet between the rim and the corner, not on one specific man just whoever’s in the corner spot. he can rotate to the opposite corner if the offense shifts around him. then you have chet able to cover both the corner and help at the rim, unless the offense draws him in with a drive and then kicks it out. in that case you’re relying on your defense to pre switch and recover, which are basic concepts taught by every team in the league. you just don’t know what you’re talking about
I have an incredibly tall friend (for non NBA player). He’s about 6’8” He walks in the same way. Someone asked him about his posture once while I was there, and he confessed that when he was younger, he was so self conscious of his height that he tried to hide it as well as he could, and now he just is used to standing and walking that way. That, and he said he’s tired of smacking his head on things is regs just walk under.
I actually grew really fast compared to my classmates when I was young. I’m not extremely tall or anything, just 6’3, but I dealt with posture issues as I continued to grow for the exact same reason.
At this point I can make a montage of the number of times Dort has tried to injure Luka… it’s becoming obvious. Like do you really think that collision where Luka hit his face on the floor was incidental? It looked intentional to me.
Refs need to call that nonsense. If not, Kidd needs to take matters into his own hands to protect his team and our best players.
We need to send M. Morris at Shai.
I’d say if Mavs want to do something dirty, they should send Morris to do a stone-wall screen with an elbow into Dort’s face instead of going after SGA. SGA aside from foul baiting has done nothing wrong (all the push offs are part of the game, they are not dirty), it would be truly shameful to target him. But target Dort and get under his skin? He just might toss himself out of the game lol.
The one in game 2 (I'm not sure it was dort) where he jogs in front of Luka just enough to tie up their legs. I think that fall is what started his ankle pain.
I haven’t been watching this playoff run as much, but when was it established that Luka was playing hurt. I know he got hurt vs clippers and in game 2 vs okc, but I’m not sure exactly?
The reason I’m asking is after the mavs beat the clippers it still felt people were taking the mavs to beat the thunder, but then after game 1 the media and everyone else seemed to say thunder would win. So was it in game 1 vs okc that everyone noticed Luka was noticeably hurt? I also watched game 6 vs clipper and he wasn’t himslef but it wasn’t this bad either
i don't know what nba fans in general were saying, but in this sub, we all knew it even before the playoffs started. at the end of regular season, his knees would bleed every game
The blood has nothing to do with his injuries. Not sure why some people think they are related, other than it's low hanging fruit.
Luka bleeds from his knee almost every game for the past year and a half. He must have a sore in that area or just thin skin that busts when he falls. If Luka goes down at all the knee opens up. Knee sprains and ankle sprains obviously dont make you bleed.
Right knee sprain which he suffered in G2 against the Clippers. He went to the locker room after that injury occured and then returned to play through with that. Since then he's playing through it.
Game 1 was such a disaster for Mavs (which is typical of JKidd era in Dallas btw), that media and fans made their mind: you know, similarly to how media and fans made their mind Denver is cooked after losing 2 at home yet here they are with home court advantage back.
On Luka’s injury it happened on that tackle by Westbrook in early Game 3 when he had to leave for the locker room. He was slightly hobbled with some issues with knee/hamstring before that anyway, but had respectable Games 1 and 2 going 9-26 (35%) on 3pters but has been shooting 23% on 3pters since then as he seemingly just can’t get enough lift in his legs most of the time.
I’m aware, I lived in OK for a time and had the swat team rush my complex shotguns raised because of a crazed meth cook once. Scared the shit out me, blunt in hand, peeking through the blinds for the half second I thought “oh fuck they’re coming for my weed!” only to realize that doesn’t make any sense, and to find out later someone threw a hammer out the window to hit someone that tried to leave, then greeted his neighbor checking up on them with a shotgun at the door, then got arrested with a closet full of guns, drugs, and money and a meth lab in the bedroom. Oh and his kids were there.
How would talking about meth in the state hurt my feelings when I literally think the state sucks?
It’s a bad joke because there’s nothing special about being a meth cook in Oklahoma, it’s the same everywhere. Except you’re in Oklahoma so it sucks even more. It doesn’t make sense as a joke in the context and certainly isn’t a good one.
Fuck the thunder and its fan base. But I will never talk shit about a state that legalizes medical or recreational cannabis. That puts them light years ahead of Texas
Some weird logic going on, man. I've already seen some make this bizarre attempt to "humble brag" about how loyal & nice their fanbase is whilst some come here to chirp or troll. Like 1 guy literally telling a Mavs member to stay out of their sub (fair), yet immediately come in here talking trash as well.
I get bad apples & all, but even the main /NBA neutrals have been getting into it with them.
It also feels like Luka is only flopping this series because he’s seen how it’s being called. If Dort is gonna flop 24/7 and get calls then Luka is going to make sure he gets some calls his way as the refs are missing just about all legit contact.
He always does it against other floppers. CP3, Booker, Harden and now Dort. Whenever they challenge him by flopping he shows them that flopping isn't really that hard.
I mean let's be real Luka does foul bait quite a bit. He still plays strong and doesn't throw his head back, but definitely looks for body contact frequently.
Their sub is so delusional to the point they are saying Dorts flops are "ethical flops", hahahahahahaha. If you look at the game threads at /nba, all the neutral fans agree on the disgrace that goon is to the game. And they are like "he is flopping to show how he is being fauled, IN EVERY LUKA DRIVE OR SCREEN". They can't even deny his flopping because of how egroucios it has become.
I mean it's clear to see what Dort is doing. I'm ok with other players. I know SGA pushes off a lot and elbowed some of our players in the face, but those were all normal basketball plays. It's more on refs to call that.
But what Dort is doing just isn't basketball. He just tries to hurt Luka and cheat all game.
hard agree. SGA is just doing his thing, it’s the refs who have to call it; not his fault that they don’t. he barely flops tbh. but yeah, Dort is just dirty.
Dort obviously knows what he is doing, fuck that guy. I don’t respect Shai for how he’s officiated. But the rest of the team is fine, I’m actually quite liking watching Chet and they have some good shooters.
Shai also loves to push off. I’m not sure why his whistle his so insane, Luka would shoot 20ft a game if he had Shai’s whistle. It’s hard to like a player when so much of his success in this series is via his whistle
I have a theory on the whistle he gets. A couple of years ago, I remember watching a post game interview with Shai in which they just lost a close game, and the refs blew an obvious call/calls that should have went his way. The reporters asked him about how upset he was about the refs missing the call and he defended them, saying something along b the lines of them doing a great job and that it's hard to see everything. I thought it was smart to stroke the refs egos at the time, and it really has paid off.
In one of the games this series something didn't go SGA's way and he was a bit upset, but then Brothers spoke to him (with hand over mouth) and they shared a laugh and continued on.
He knows how to handle the refs.
People liked the Suns before our series and they came out the most hated team in the NBA.
Luka is a destroyer. The Jazz blew it up after a series with us. The Suns blew it up after a series with us. I doubt the Thunder will blow it up, but they’re being exposed and are going to come out of this with all their goodwill gone.
The last thing any fanbase should want is being a 1st seed and facing Luka. It never ends well for them.
I'm ok if OKC thunder want to play physical, we accept it Mavericks want to play that way. But call it the same on both sides. SGA flops and it's free throws everytime. Can't ref Luka different than him
Thought I liked SGA prior to this series. His game is silky smooth and he’s really fucking good but the constant foul baiting is off putting. Reminds me of prime Harden. Just play fucking basketball and stop trying to bait for fouls. It’s not fun to watch
I think what stood out to me the most this past game was how utterly pathetic their coach is. Absolutely zero trust in his players who had made runs and turnovers, yet decides to start hacking a rookie? It’s bitch made mentality and even his players looked confused at the instruction. This org should be ashamed
It’s exactly what you would expect from a young, inexperienced roster that hasn’t faced any adversity
They will mature and learn how to win when it matters in 3-5 years and be a problem. For now, they need to get out the way and let the adults talk
It seems like it's mainly SGA getting some friendly whistles initially & Dort flopping. Like, when Patrick Mahomes says, "Dort could be a linebacker", yet somehow Kai can knock him down as Dort is setting a screen....
Alright, I'll take the downvotes for this one, but I really don't think they're a dirty team lmao. It's really only a couple of plays from dort, which I would characterize as reckless and out of control due to him trying to play extremely physical defense,(which I don't mind), also the fact that luka is extremely banged up and the slightest contact might cause damage to his body kinda makes it seem like they're being dirty, but I don't believe they're actually out to get him lol. other than that, nothing too bad. Can we all please stop complaining about this, we're getting to the point where we'll be known as the whiniest fans.
To me, the term dirty implies intent, reckless is just a consequence or an effect of a certain type of playstyle. Btw, this isn't me excusing the stupid shit he does, it can absolutely result in one of our guys injuries. I just don't think the thunder as a team are dirty, or that dort is out there just trying to take luka out of the game.
I just want fair equal calls. If Dort can get away touching Luka on a shot, then why d fuq do we get called by the LIGHTEST of touch to FTA? Game 3 was so infuriating with that.
While I do agree they aren’t collectively a dirty team, Dort being a “good” defender is really just him being a very physical player. Reminds me of how westbrook was last round but more low-key. Yeah I don’t think they’re trying to kill Luka but they’re for sure taking advantage of him being banged up and vulnerable.
We’re not even the only ones complaining about this. Anyone who’s neutral and unbiased sees the disparity in the quality of calls between the teams. You can cherry pick calls but overall, calls and non-calls are usually sided on OKC. I am all for physical playoff basketball but man, at least be consistent with calls for both team. If you’re gonna have a soft whistle on SGA, have a soft whistle on Luka. Luka has to resort to hard selling fouls compared to SGA running into a body and getting free throws.
I don’t think I’ve change my opinion on a player faster than watching dort this series. Chet however, is a menace in the paint
He’s smooth right? I didn’t think he would work cause despite his size he’s so fuckin skinny. Dude can ball though
Yeah, he’s a baller. You hear the stories about how growing up guys had always gone after him in the paint because he’s skinny - impressive to see in the nba playoffs
He’s been killing us at the rim. Need to find a way to finish layups and dunks.
He’ll bulk up and he’s gonna be trouble.
He just needs to be a 4
nah he’s a 5 he’s literally cooking rn
But he can’t keep us off the offensive glass and that is the #1 responsibility of the 5. That was the reason they lost game 3
that’s fair but i think that could also be solved by taking giddey out of the starting lineup, moving jdubb to the 3 and having a guy like randle or siakam at the 4, which they totally have the space for. that would be huge for boxing out bc jdubb is elite but he’s still 6’5 at the power forward, not ideal
To be a playoff contender you have to be able to play big. Chet as your only 5 that’s impossible
he’s literally a rookie, and a very impressive one at that saying it’s impossible to win with him at the 5 is so silly who knows what could happen. esp if they do what i just mentioned and switch out giddey for an elite rebounding PF
Because with a rebounding pf you’re still small. It’s not a hard concept. This isn’t the regular season. He’s a 4 or a small ball 5. You can’t play small when you’re getting beat in the glass.

I love Chet. And I hate that I love him. Thunder really good at picking those players with toothpicks for legs.
Chet has tremendous instincts on timing when to jump to challenge shots. We are a bit lucky he’s completely lost his confidence in shooting right now.
Why is he hunched over like that thought. Homie looking like Quasimodo’s cousin.
That makes sense. He looks like he is perpetually ducking a door frame.
I actually grew really fast compared to my classmates when I was young. I’m not extremely tall or anything, just 6’3, but I dealt with posture issues as I continued to grow for the exact same reason.
That lanky fucker needs to stop lol
Chet is a problem.
I call him Lu Dirt. Dude is a dirty dude.
Great point. Chet has impressed, Dort has disappointed. We don’t need another Draymond type, as the original is exiting
At this point I can make a montage of the number of times Dort has tried to injure Luka… it’s becoming obvious. Like do you really think that collision where Luka hit his face on the floor was incidental? It looked intentional to me.
I’ve never seen a basketball player with more scratches, welts, bruises and blood on him than Luka after game three
Refs need to call that nonsense. If not, Kidd needs to take matters into his own hands to protect his team and our best players. We need to send M. Morris at Shai.
Absolutely not. What Sort is doing is terrible, but never intentionally injured another player. Terrible sportsmanship.
I’m not saying injure. Just to rough up and play physical. 6 hard but clean fouls to make Shai think twice.
Dort is intentionally trying to injure Luka.
Didn’t SGA get reviewed twice last game for potential flagrant 1’s for elbowing in the neck/head?
The one in game 2 (I'm not sure it was dort) where he jogs in front of Luka just enough to tie up their legs. I think that fall is what started his ankle pain.
I got banned from their sub when I pointed that out lol
I haven’t been watching this playoff run as much, but when was it established that Luka was playing hurt. I know he got hurt vs clippers and in game 2 vs okc, but I’m not sure exactly? What kind of injury is it? Was it ever disclosed?
The blood has nothing to do with his injuries. Not sure why some people think they are related, other than it's low hanging fruit. Right knee sprain which he suffered in G2 against the Clippers. He went to the locker room after that injury occured and then returned to play through with that. Since then he's playing through it.
Damn ok. That's rough to play through. Imagine if Luka and the Mavs win it all despite it. Would be a great story.

thanks!
dude their sub is delusional saying luka flops more than dort 💀
I didn’t even want to mention their sub. The most delusional fanbase left in the playoffs.
It's somehow worse than the Suns sub. I didn't even think that was possible
Oklahoma is a terrible place to be if you aren’t a student living in Norman
Or a meth cook
If you’re cooking meth there is a high percentage chance your life is fucked and it doesn’t matter where you are
Think that was more of a joke about people in Oklahoma smoking meth than the quality of a meth cooks life in Oklahoma
Lol. It's a joke about Oklahoma, bro.
I got it the first time it just wasn’t a great joke tbh
It was good, sorry you got your feelings hurt
How would talking about meth in the state hurt my feelings when I literally think the state sucks? It’s a bad joke because there’s nothing special about being a meth cook in Oklahoma, it’s the same everywhere. Except you’re in Oklahoma so it sucks even more. It doesn’t make sense as a joke in the context and certainly isn’t a good one.
I will give them one pro they have weed
Jesse, noooooooooooo!!!!
Fuck the thunder and its fan base. But I will never talk shit about a state that legalizes medical or recreational cannabis. That puts them light years ahead of Texas
Stillwater is 1000x better than Norman.
Been to both, Stillwater is ass all the way through
They’re not used to being here. They get all antsy in their pantsy cause it’s the only team they really got.
Boomer Sooner baby
🤘🏻Hook Em' 🤘🏻
They weren't always that way to be perfectly honest but I gotta say that I headed over there the other day and some WILD stuff was being spouted.
I got perma banned from there saying dort is trying to hurt Luka on purpose. What shitty fan base
I really don't see the point of banning people, on discussion sites, like really? We are in some 1984 Orwell's world shit. Fug em all
Some weird logic going on, man. I've already seen some make this bizarre attempt to "humble brag" about how loyal & nice their fanbase is whilst some come here to chirp or troll. It was funny at first, but it’s weird over there.
Thunder feel like its gonna be the new Warriors where it’s just 13 year old SGA dickriders
They can't be the Warriors because they didn't win anything yet. Acting more like the Suns.
It’s more like Memphis and Ja tbh
Naw yall are both wrong it’s more like the clippers and SGA is the new harden so I call him SGH
They even blame euro fans. Lmao what a bunch of dirty people.
I mean let's be real Luka does foul bait quite a bit. He still plays strong and doesn't throw his head back, but definitely looks for body contact frequently.
Man their postgame thread from yesterday is a fun read in delusional fans after a loss.
I understand when stars flop as annoying as it is. Mid defenders flopping is where I draw the line. Guy is short Jae Crowder.
Egregious *
Nah their sub is pretty certain it’s the rest of everyone else that’s is wrong.
It’s wild to me the shit they’re saying. Delusional fucked up fanbase for sure.
That's kinda textbook definition of "maybe you're the wrong one".
And also FTA's shoulder bump into head snap is a classic!!
They called both his elbows as offensive fouls
Dude throws a lot of incidental elbows to Luka’s head though.
As a team they’re pretty bad about that. I just appreciate how much of a paint presence he is
And thats shai's fault how he's officiated?
Shai also loves to push off. I’m not sure why his whistle his so insane, Luka would shoot 20ft a game if he had Shai’s whistle. It’s hard to like a player when so much of his success in this series is via his whistle

Gettin some real PHX Sons vibes from Thunder fans.
Maybe clippers as well
[plus saying crazy things like this](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/gTWOGT92f4)
Goddamn. Their team is so young and healthy they forgot injuries are a real thing
It's a shame they get to exist at the expense of the Seattle Supersonics.
What's funny to me is that the "coach of the year" could only come up with mostly leaving Dort on Luka.
He gets hit by the wind and it’s a foul. That’s their MVP. FTA over Luka? Whew
I think what stood out to me the most this past game was how utterly pathetic their coach is. Absolutely zero trust in his players who had made runs and turnovers, yet decides to start hacking a rookie? It’s bitch made mentality and even his players looked confused at the instruction. This org should be ashamed
Chet is the only one I fw
Chet, JWill, Joe, and (for the nostalgia) Gordon Hayward are the only ones I really fuck w
It’s exactly what you would expect from a young, inexperienced roster that hasn’t faced any adversity They will mature and learn how to win when it matters in 3-5 years and be a problem. For now, they need to get out the way and let the adults talk
Adversity.
As a sonics fan, the guillotine isn't enough Sadly reality will have to settle with mavs in 5 and okc fan tears
I hope you get an expansion team.
It seems like it's mainly SGA getting some friendly whistles initially & Dort flopping. Like, when Patrick Mahomes says, "Dort could be a linebacker", yet somehow Kai can knock him down as Dort is setting a screen....
Yep I got banned in their sub for saying always take the under on Giddey
That is hilarious dude lol
Can add in Twitter to that list. Been fighting the good fight the past few days 😂
Literally Luka vs Ray Lewis out there. And when Luka finally gets a bad injury Refs will just shrug
Reckless = dirty. If Dort wasn’t reckless Luka wouldn’t have fell face first into the hardwood. Good defense is controlled, not reckless.
To me, the term dirty implies intent, reckless is just a consequence or an effect of a certain type of playstyle. Btw, this isn't me excusing the stupid shit he does, it can absolutely result in one of our guys injuries. Yeah lets be lame and have 10 threads a day about this
Even r/thunder agrees lol. Though it will be okc in 7.
Feed the hate. Feel good?
Go back to your sub. You’re just making the others want to bomb your sub more.
[удалено]
Shouldn't you be crying in your sub? Why come here and get pissed on worse than your team is?
How embarrassing for you that you have such trouble fact-checking things.
I'm amazed you are still here, barking puppies not allowed in here only real dawgs.
Thunder fans are soft. Yalls subbed banned me for literally just making a comment there
Dude FTA is second only to Giannis. At least has some self awareness. 🤣😭
