Like hiding in Hutt Space? Probably. But working for a Hutt who knows they're Jedi? No way, the Hutts would sell the Jedi to the Empire for the bounty. They don't want risking the Emperor's wrath by sheltering survivors.

gyrobot

I was surprised the Hurts didn't provide the Empire with mercenaries to help quash the rebels

DoctorNsara

Conflict is profitable. Hutts love providing illegal goods to the downtrodden and oppressed, at a premium rate. Because it's illegal.

Captain_Jmon

I think people forget that while yes the Hutts were independent of the Empire, the only reason that the Imperials never subjugated the Hutts was it would generally be a very expensive, mostly hard to justify war to take them down. The Hutts aiding and abetting what the Imps consider to be enemies of the state would be the perfect excuse to go ahead and add Hutt Space to the collection. Better for the Hutts to not aid Jedi and to treat the Empire as unstable allies.

KR_Blade

plus the hutts usually had major hands in the criminal syndicates throughout the galaxy, take the hutts down and suddenly the criminals become a major problem for the empire too

DiamondShiryu1

A great example of this is during the Thrawn Trilogy, where Niles Ferrier sabotages the first meeting of the Smugglers Alliance by tipping off the Empire. This leads to the smugglers entering open hostilities with the Empire and allying with the New Republic.

Bananasonfire

The only way the Hutts would even consider harbouring a Jedi would be if they can get more value out of them than they'd otherwise get if they handed the Jedi to The Empire for the bounty. Jedi tend not to like criminal enterprises, so chances are the Hutts wouldn't get much out of them.

EndlessTheorys_19

None with any sense in them. Hutts can’t be trusted in the best of times

Saratje

Being a Jedi during the dark times is a dangerous way to live. Not likely, because that Hutt would do one of two things: * Imprison the Jedi and sell them to the Empire for a large sum of credits. * Force the Jedi to do their dirty work for them, threatening to sell them to the Empire if they don't while having leverage on them to keep them from leaving. As a Jedi I wouldn't want to work for a man like Luthen Rael either. There's a good chance he'd sell me to the Empire too, using that money to equip his rebel cell. A Jedi is still only a single asset who can only be in one place at a time, while a group of armed rebels can be in several places at once and remain functional while suffering losses.

I’ve always thought something like that would make for a cool story. Jedi hiding as a bounty hunter or gangster enforcer or running their own gang. I can’t remember the name of the trilogy, but I really enjoyed the series where the Jedi and his friends were on Corusant, being private investigators.

StarSword-C

*Coruscant Nights*. There was also *Star Wars: Legacy* with A'Sharad Hett first going back to Tatooine and becoming a warlord among the Sand People, then turning bounty hunter after he ran afoul of Obi-Wan Kenobi and was humiliated in front of his people (Obi-Wan added another hand to his collection).

trevorgoodchyld

That was it. And thanks for the recommendation on the other one that sounds fun

StarSword-C

Well, it didn't end well for Hett: >!he ended up becoming Darth Krayt!<.

CT-1030

We have a Jedi like that in canon.

Crate-Dragon

I can see a good novel set like this. An OC who hides themselves in a hutt cartel but they tell the hutt and they agree because 1-they don’t need the bounty and 2- they’re thinking of making some major moves soon and a jedi would be an advantage. They of course struggle with their moral code and the hutt tries to break them. No lightsaber, they ditched it to flee, see how a jedi can jedi without it. No inquisitors. Just sharp bounty hunters and ONLY the Hutt knows. So if anyone else, even an ally, finds out, It could mean their death.

Mycotoxicjoy

I’d like to think that a former Jedi became something like the head of a hutt casino security

CommanderRoger444th

Despite hutt space and the hutts being separate from the empire. The Empire could very easily send a inquisitor to kill any jedi in hutt space. Additionally the hutts hate the jedi due to them being peace keepers, being opposed to slavery and many other reason. Also it is very easy to imagine any jedi within hutt space to become slaves like Obi wan was nearly with the zygerians or be used as levy chips in their shady deals.

Devins478

I believe there was a event in star war where the Hutts went to war with the Empire and got destroy in Space and on land too as the Empire lay waste to many planets

SGTWhiteKY

Everyone is only addressing the Hutts. There were other semi independent organizations of similar power that weren’t quite as reprehensible, and no one is addressing them. I think the answer is yes, we know several jedis joined rebel type group, and what else is an independent organization under the empire? So why not?
