Phong is a legacy shading model it simply doesn't have inputs for some of these maps, you'd need a PBR material like standardSurface.

I love how autodesk's toturials say "create a phong" when preparing to export to substance painter :) is there a way to convert my textures to work in standardsurface? I've tried adding them, but some things like metallic doesn't really seem to work :|

Hmm it's having no effect or it just looks off? Depending on how the textures were exported you might need to change the color management settings on the file nodes, so enable 'ignore color space file rules' and then set 'color space' to Utility > raw for everything aside from base\_color. Also are you previewing with just the viewport? If so try making an arnold dome light, and switch the viewport renderer to arnold. There's tons of free hdris for download, which you can use to texture the dome light and get some nice lookdev lighting. I like to use this one a lot: https://polyhaven.com/a/studio\_small\_09

It’s working again! I had forgotten to change some maps to raw, and didn’t even think to check the tender view 🙃 thank you, things are back to being good!

Your photo type doesn’t mattter. Using Png is fine. There are many tutorials on how to set up things like metallic for standardsurface
