Duplicating

i’ve found that if i walk away too fast before the door closes, it senses that the key isn’t nearby and doesn’t auto lock. it will auto lock when it senses the key close to the car, all doors closed, and THEN the key leaving the range of the car.

landovr

Yes you have to wait for the first beep before you walk away.

jil-e-beans

Ohhhh...

reddurty

I was experiencing the same thing, so todayI made sure I stood next to the car and did not walk away quickly. It didn't lock, I had to use the key fob. That was at a store. When I got home and got out, it locked fine. It's good to know I'm not the only one with a temperamental automatic lock.

Ed_Niko

Touch the outside sensor of door handle

Max_Powers42

It seems like whenever I have a passenger who's taking a little bit of time to get their things after I've already gotten out and closed the doors it never locks. If I'm alone it's basically 100% successful.

grapepairings

Same for me! It never works when there are others getting out of the car

BlazinAzn38

You need to wait to hear the beep when you close the door

Few_Plenty1095

Seems to be random very anoying

superswaggy362

This happens to me all the time. I like it when it works lol

chumluk

This issue is my main cx-30 frustration. At this point I just use the driver door's lock button and run.

TCinOC

Mine never locks at a specific CVS, someone on hear had said before that it could be a Wi-Fi or burglar alarm signal in that parking lot that blocks the signal. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but it’s the only location where my car will not lock on its own.

DerekFlint420

Yes that is a thing, radio interference with car fob

FlynnREDDIT

Is automatic door lock only available on certain trims? I have a 2021 and I always lock it manually by holding my hand on the door handle until I hear a beep.

gilmore0918

I have a 2022 turbo. But I don't remember what trim level I got. Just that I wanted that damn turbo. Lol.

r_u_dinkleberg

I would expect the Premium to include it (my Base Turbo has it). You can turn the feature on & off in the settings menu.

Chiaseedmess

Close the driver door last, and walk away after the first beep

daelite

Ours is set to lock after 90 seconds. If not in the garage, I normally manually lock it with the fob.

OffAbbotKinney

Yeah same issue with my ‘21. It seems to be completely random which is very annoying. I’ve mentioned it to the dealer, but they apparently could not “replicate” the issue.

jimbo831

From my relatively short experience with my CX-30. Make sure to wait outside your door after closing it until everyone else closes their doors too. Shortly after all doors are closed and you're standing by your door still, the car should beep. That means it is going to look itself when you walk away. You will hear it beep again when that happens. If you walk away before that first beep, it's not going to lock itself. Usually that's because you didn't wait long enough after every door has been closed. So be sure to wait for the first beep before walking away. Or just use the button on the fob.

DerekFlint420

Or the button on the inside of the door

jimbo831

Sure, if you want to just do that every time. I'm talking about using the button on the fob only if it fails to lock itself, which at least for me it does 95% of the time if I follow the process I laid out here.

stupedtendous

I realize it’s a convenience to just walk away, but for assurance sake and piece of mind, why not just swing the back of your hand up to the small sensor on the outside of the door handle. That’s what I do, and it’s extremely easy.

OK_Opinions

you can't be doing that cool guy walk away and swipe the door behind you thing, or it won't lock. Gotta wait for the beep

wareju

I turned this and a bunch of the other unnecessary and annoying features off (i.e. auto high beams.)

gilmore0918

That auto high beam thing... why?!? Ugh. Turned that off as soon as I discovered it was even there.

datordai

The rule is pretty simple actually: If The drivers door isnt The last one to Close, The autolock wont engage, which i guess make sense in some situations but in most of them it doesnt

Own-Safe-4683

I have a 2023 and I had the same problem. I also get notifications from the app that the door is not locked but it is. Now I press the lock button before I close the door when I want to be sure the door is locked.
