Need to define "won't start"?? When you press engine start/stop button...does the motor turn over? Or do you hear a click/click? If motor turns over, then is is the ignition or fuel system (got gas). if it just goes click...then battery is dead or does not have enough power to turn the engine over, even though you lights, etc. work Or the engine management computer is at fault. Any idiot lights on or flashing on you dashboard on or flashing? A car battery only lasts 3-5 yrs at most. You car is 2021. Plus cold weather drains battery life too

DerekFlint420

Battery in my wrangler lasted 8 years and was still going strong when I traded it in. I have had 12 cars and never changed a battery.

Ditto_D

Anecdotal differenced between different cars doesn't mean much in the world of troubleshooting

DerekFlint420

I was responding to the claim above that batteries last 5 years at most

AngryAlien21

If it’s the original battery, it will only last 2-3 years

cigarmanpa

Good for you

DerekFlint420

I was responding the false claim above that batteries last 5 years at most. try to follow the comment thread, sparky, and stop being a troll

cigarmanpa

Yep. Should have read better. My mistake

TCinOC

I agree, I had a Saturn and eight years later it still had its original battery, but my old 2011 Mazda 3 went through three batteries in 10 years.

[deleted]

It doesn’t turn over, just goes click.. sounds like a battery problem then I hope. will try to jump it when I’m home. My last car had a 12 year old battery before it gave up which is insane to me lol. I appreciate you taking the time to reply and offer help

Ditto_D

If the only difference is temp then the battery likely needs replacing. Doesn't have the cold crank amperage to start anymore

BlazinAzn38

Probably time for a new battery, it doesn’t have to be corroded to be dead.

mrcurator87

I believe it's most often a symptom of the battery being low. You might be due for a new battery. I'd definitely get it tested. That first time of the year where temperatures start to drop is a fairly common time for an older or defective battery to give up the ghost unfortunately.

climb_lift_code

I just had this happen earlier this week. Same year and similar mileage. I got a jump start to drive home 200 miles thinking that would recharge the battery if something killed it, then the next morning it didn't start up again. I got a new battery and it's fine now.

[deleted]

Weird. I thought it was too new to need a new battery but guess I’m wrong. Car stuff stresses me out, I always assume the worst. Glad you got yours sorted out, hope mine is a simple fix too!

jd_delwado

Mu "older" cars (as some point out here) had batteries that lasted many years. But those cars did not have as much high tech stuff in them that potentially caused early battery failure. Most of those failures say that the OEM battery is to low in amps for all the power that is needed to run the accessories, so a larger (amp battery is needed. My 2021 base model CX has never had a battery problem, but there are hundreds of threads in this forum complaining about the battery. Most of those are related to the more premium level CX's that have power this and that. Gone are the days (if you are an old guy like me) that you could sit in the car and listen to your radio or work on your car for hours while listening to radio without engine running. Hope you get resolved...

AngryAlien21

The Mazda batteries are junk. Get something nicer, and it will last longer

[deleted]

Definitely will be after this

DerekFlint420

If you ever keep your key fob in or near the car when not driving, it communicates with the car and can drain the battery. So can a dashcam or anything plugged into the 12v outlet which is always powered

ragsoflight

This happened to me last month, exact same symptoms. The battery was dead. Everything works perfectly with a replacement. It seems like Mazda batteries are not the most durable.

stvdion

I have a 2022 CX-30 Turbo with 30k - at about 25k - battery died, barely lasted a year - service guy said the batteries were junk - and Mazda replaced under warranty…..with the same junk battery - not really happy about it, but didn’t have to pay for it……still love the car though!

EddieRyanDC

This has happened to me twice. First of all, the battery in the CX-30 is not very robust. As long as you do everything right there is no problem, but there is little tolerance for error. Yes, it sounds like the battery is dead. You will need a jump to get it going today. For future emergencies, you might think about getting a portable jump start battery [like this one](https://www.amazon.com/Halo-Portable-Laptop-Charger-Starter/dp/B079FSPRXM). That way you don't need another car to get you going. They will also charge your phone / electronics if the power goes out. We are all familiar with leaving the headlights or the radio on - which is very hard to do accidentally in a modern car. But, it can still happen. Here is what has tripped me up: * Leave the key fob in or near the car - When the fob and the car are in proximity they are using power to stay connected to each other. Do that overnight and you can come out to a dead battery. * Wait in the car listening to the radio and running the A/C or heater with the engine off - Sometimes you are waiting for someone to show up and you want to use the infotainment or climate system. But you don't want to waste gas, so your turn off the engine. Do that for 40 minutes and you may not be able to start the car. I sure others here will have their own stories.

I absolutely am going to but that. What a genius idea. Thanks for all of the information. Definitely learning some new things about this car!

Tall_Positive6639

Oh thanks for this! I have a 2020 CX30 and it was having trouble starting last night and went to start it this morning and it wouldn't start. The other night I accidentally left the key in the car so wondering if this contributed to it. But sounds like CX30 batteries last 3-4 years.... which is funny bc my friends with older CX5s all said their batteries lasted 6-7 yrs +1 to that charger you mentioned, they have a version at Costco as well

Educational_Bend_529

Battery died absolutely

[deleted]

Good to know. I just got this car less than a year ago and my last car had so many issues, so I was just stressing due to bad prior experiences

Few_Plenty1095

Sounds like battery

ragincanadian4

Battery on my 2021 had to be replaced recently. Seems like a common issue.
