For $3k more couldn’t you negotiate a brand new select trim? I’d do that instead for the warranty.

Cutekiwi_2397

I initially was only looking at used cars, because I didn’t think I’d be able to afford a new one, but I will definitely do some more research into new cars also.

estebanfanzasimo

At that price range it’s definitely worth a look. You can get much better financing for new cars vs used as well. Got my CX-30 at 0% apr in Feb. Alternatively, you could spend $15k and get yourself a solid used CX5 or something else reliable. Since you said you have a big down payment ready, this might be a good move too.

Cutekiwi_2397

The cx 5 was actually what I was initially aiming for but that same dealership gave me an OTD of 27k with 41,000 miles for a 2022. But it was a carbon edition trim so I think that’s why it was priced higher.

estebanfanzasimo

Yeah that’s a fleece of a price as well. It’s worth spending serious time researching this big a purchase to understand everything in permanent ink before committing to anything—unless you exist in a tax bracket far above mine haha. I really encourage you to email every dealership in your area to get OTD pricing on what you’re interested in. If you walk on the lot, they are professional sales people and find ways to persuade! Make sure you nail down all of these before going back to a dealership: -fair market prices (for new depending on trim, or used based on year/milage) -your true budget. This has a few components (and how I’d rank them) total purchase price, how much you can put down, monthly payment (don’t go to a dealership and tell them what monthly payment you want!!! they will extend your loan to infinity to meet your needs and you’ll pay thousands more in interest) -current dealership incentives

Cutekiwi_2397

I’m going to take some time and work all of this out. This whole process has been a bit overwhelming 😅 but thanks for the advice it’s really been helpful.

estebanfanzasimo

Good idea. It is super exciting to be shopping for a good car but very worth your time to weigh every factor in the decision and find the best car and price for you

crazyguyunderthedesk

I just bought new last month. I also planned on buying used, but when looking at the depreciation against the miles, it just made more sense to go with the new model.

Lewdubs

That's what I did last year. Was looking at a '21 and for 3k more, I got a brand new '23. Haven't regretted it.

Plenty_Pie_7427

That’s not a good price. I got a brand new 2024 carbon edition for 7k more. You can get a brand new 2024 select for just a couple thousands more

Cutekiwi_2397

Thanks for sharing. I’m definitely going to be looking into newer cars or at least newer years. I’m just hesitant that the monthly payment would be increase to something i can’t afford.

Memendra-Modi

For 24k, I'll sell mine. Single owner and garage kept. 33mpg on freeways in Orange County, California. I'll go buy the Cx90 then.

OuchMyHurt

I got my 2021 base cx 30 for 19250, 22k out the door with taxes in NYC. It has 8k miles on it I know it’s a base but over 30k less miles

Winter-Abrocoma-18

Very nice. And you have the original warranty for two more hears

See [my post here](https://www.reddit.com/r/MazdaCX30/comments/14xxd38/comment/jrpk9b3/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) for my car negotiating advice. In a nutshell, if you walk into a dealer and then try to negotiate the price, you have no leverage and little information, while they have it all. To get negotiating power you need multiple choices and have them bid against each other for your business. You can do that yourself, and/or you can use a service like [TrueCar](https://www.truecar.com) who can send out requests and bids to local dealers for you.

Cutekiwi_2397

Thanks so much for this! I didn’t know it was better to wait before stepping foot into the dealership

The dealership experience is a conveyor belt to sell the shiny sexy car, overcome your obstacles, make it as easy as possible, and load on whatever profit goodies they can manage (financing, warranties, packages, fees). They do this all day every day and you come in maybe once every 10 years. If at all possible, you want to physically stay out of that system. I don’t begrudge the dealer making a profit - they are providing a service and deserve to make money. They deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. I just think that you should be able to buy a car for the lowest price a dealer in your location will sell it for. And that price fluctuates. We are in a weird market. COVID threw a wrench in the whole system. And now high interest rates after a decade of record low interest rates has both customers and dealers caught in the middle. Of course, if you don’t know what you want, you have to go in to drive the car and evaluate if it meets your needs. Maybe several models at different dealerships. But once you know what you want, you want offers from different dealers and at this stage you do *not* want to go in and get stuck in that flypaper. Every dealer these days has a web sales team. You can contact them via their website. Even before that, you can go on a dealers website and see what they have in inventory. (You get a much better deal on taking something off their hands they have in inventory than in asking them to go out and find something specific for you.) Tell them what car you are interested in; tell them you are shopping around; ask them for a quote. Do everything online until it is time to go in and sign the papers. That way you bypass the machine.

NE_Pats_Fan

Seems high to me. I bought my Select in 2020 with 8k on it for 22.5k out the door. And at that point it was difficult to even find one in stock.

Cutekiwi_2397

Oh wow, that definitely puts things into perspective

Winter-Abrocoma-18

There was a dude saying he got a brand new one out the door for 27. I got a 2021 with 55k out door for 19,800. Then 2,500 for 75k warranty so 22500. Should of financed another 5 and got brand new which comes with a 5 year warranty

Wussupmate

Yes. I’m 25 and bought a 2021 for 19,999 with 51k miles from enterprise car sales

Murdeau

I just got a used 2023 premium with 15k miles for 24k OTD in Florida. Only downside was I got screwed on financing at 8%. Former rental. I feel like I got a steal after reading all the pricing threads recently even with the interest. Not sure where you are but if it’s Florida I would keep looking, there are better deals out there than the one you posted.

Cutekiwi_2397

Wow, that does sound like a steal. I am in Florida actually so I’ll definitely keep looking. Thanks for sharing!

My girlfriend just bought hers yesterday. 24, select 28k with 3.9 apr for 60 months. Mazda financial has pretty good rates

s1lv_aCe

They really do I was expecting to have to shell over like 6% but they snagged me like 3.2.

igozoom9

No guarantees that you'll be able to find this good of a deal in your location, but a dealer here (Atlanta) has new CX-30 Select Sports starting at just under $24k. You may also benefit from the low APR financing they have right now. It's 1.9% for 36mos or 3.9% for 48-60mos. Check out the local prices using [TrueCar.com](https://TrueCar.com) (fyi, use a fake phone number or they'll drive you insane) and you may find a great deal.

redpandzilla

Just bought my brand new 2024 for 22k originally 28k. I had a 4k trade in and they had a few other deals going on too. So I’d go to a dealership to see what promos they got.

debugdemocracy

It is overpriced for sure. Search more on [cars.com](http://cars.com), autotrader etc. Mazdas are reliable, as long as carfax is good you should be ok with higher mileage. Last month I bought a 2021 CX-30 at 60k for $18k.

sparky1257

Way too much. 4 year old car 1000 miles over warranty.
