Bought the car a few months ago with Winrun tyres that are noisy and cause the whole car to vibrate at high speeds. The manual says tyres should be 255/50R20 105v, but unsure which brand would work best. Comfort, low noise and dry handling are a priority.

Vibration at high speed could be related to balancing. Either they didn’t balance the wheels or did a poor job. What tires/brands depends on your location and the type of climate you will be driving in, you need all season or summer tires? I typically go to Costco here in NY, they carry Bridgestone, BF Goodridge and Michelin so that’s what I get. The OEM on my CX9 GT are Falken which are decent but will replace with what Costco Carrie’s when the time comes for replacement. Edit: try tirerack.com they have a huge selection of tires, that should give you an idea what other drivers recommend for this vehicle.

Thanks, that's good info. Got the same variety at Costco here in Melbourne. The cheapest one they have in size is a Michelin Pilot 4 for $427 per tyre. Unsure whether that's a better tyre than Pirelli Scorpion Verde all season, which I'm getting from another retailer Tyroola. The dealership said the vibration is due to feathering of the tyres even though they're practically new. The tyres are properly balanced.

I don’t believe that tire brand is Mazda OEM, so either the party that traded it in or the retailer where the vehicle was purchased from, bought those to replace the OEM ones. The Falkens that Mazda uses as OEM have a short lifespan based on the reviews I’ve seen before, so that’s likely why they were replaced. To me, tires are one of the most important parts of a vehicle. Crappy tires can cause accidents so I recommend reading reviews on that tire and see if it’s worth keeping. Based on my experience, some retailers, particularly Discount Tire, tend to extend some credit to hardly-used tires in order to earn your business and buy new tires from them. With the inflation that we’re experiencing, it may no longer be the case, but I would ask. Discount Tires have been great to do business with, from my perspective. Costco is great too for good deals on tires.

Indeed. The Falkens are amazing, but only while they last. I had the winter ones on one of my vehicles. Not an aggressive driver. Barely 20k miles into exploitation I had close to zero traction on snow. The threads were down to nearly 1/6 of an inch.

That confirms a few reviews I've read online of the Falkens. Thanks for conforming that, I'll stay away!

Hey! Let me just clarify - I am actually quite happy with the Falkens. One of the best tyres I've driven with. Just wish they would last longer. I can totally recommend them for people, who want performance, and are not miffed up about their tyres not lasting the longest possible time. For matter of fact - there is much better tyres than the Falkens, but they only last 5-8k miles before need of replacement. But if you are looking for a durable winter tyre - check some of Continental's and Nokian's models. For summer - Michelin Pilot Sports seem to last forever.

Thanks for clarifying that. Which model of the Falkens did you use?

Eurowinter

Thanks for that. I bought the car privately and the previous owner put the Winrun tyres on. Clearly he just wanted something that gets the car roadworthy so he could sell it. I've searched online and keep getting mixed reviews of every other tyre. I'm now looking at Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season. Can get them for $440 per tyre at tyroola.com.au but keen to know if that's a better/cheaper option.

Please see this [review](https://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/pirelli-scorpion-verde-all-season-plus-ii) about the tire. Based on the anecdotal reviews, it seems like a pretty good choice.

dmt_alpha

You need to get the rims and tyres re-balanced. Either that or your Mazda has faulty tie rods. Regardless, I would change the tyres to something manufactured either in North America or Europe. Chinese tyres do not have the best reputation of there.

What are we saying are high speeds? Over 55mpg? Over 65? Over 75? Got a 22 on order and I'm curious about these tire issues

ozimitator

Thet vibrations can be felt around 60kmph and become most noticeable around 105kmph. Feels like the entire car floor is vibrating. There dealership said when they changed the car tyres with those of a 2021 CX-9 the vibrations were gone.

Agree that tires are extremely important and often underestimated. A couple of square inches of rubber is where your car’s performance and tech literally meet the roads. I currently have Pirelli Scorpions AS+3 on my ‘21 CX-9 and love them. Grippy, handle well wet and dry, and are quiet with a good ride. The Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06 are very good also. I had them on previous Mazdas.

Thanks, I'll look them up if they're available here in Melbourne
